Anybody catching it this weekend? I absolutely love the book, the mini series was one of my favorites growing up, and I loved Chapter 1... no brainer opening night for me. My Mini bullet points review: - Adrian Mellon scene... WOW, that was tough to watch. - VERY LONG, though it didn't quite feel it, until the last act. It dragged a bit and could've lost maybe 15-20 around act 3. - Speaking OF, that final Pennywise form.... I don't know what I was expecting, but that was a bit of a let down. THE CAST... HOLY HELL, I was in awe of how perfectly cast the adult versions were. Down to little mannerisms and facial movements the kids had... everybody was excellent. Let's talk if you've seen It, or plan on it this weekend!

Slightly nervous to go see this. I just rewatched Chapter 1 which I liked less (and I was never jazzed about in the first place) but I feel the need to just get it over with. Not great when seeing a movie feels like a chore that needs to be accomplished but we'll see. Can't overlook a cast like that.

I'll admit, if you are a fan of the novel, there a quite a few liberties taken that novel purists will NOT like. After the initial high of the experience wore off last night, I found myself wondering how certain things would've played out in the movie if they stuck closer to source material. Let me know what you think!

Let me know what you think! Cool. Good to know! I actually am normally the opposite of a novel purist and if it means getting a better-than-good film (especially horror film) out of taking liberties I'm all for it. Jaws and Shining are both probably the best examples of this because they're vastly superior to the books they're based on. With this I just generally feel like the first movie got swallowed up in the 'fidgety jumpscare' world of today's horror and didn't really provide anything of value. Still not sure why I don't connect with Pennywise's look because it seems like everyone else does but it just doesn't do much for me. With that whining aside I am primed to see what Chapter 2 has to offer.

Can I just say that I love that the board room scene includes two Ben Hanscoms?
My only issue with the movie was that I’m not a huge fan of CGI in horror movies. I’m a practical effects kind of guy. But it finished the story off really well and I personally love what they did to Richie’s character.

Definitely the best comedy of 2019 so far.

I thought it was mostly really great. The adult cast is amazing. That being said, the token ritual and that entire section of the film really dragged for me. The characters get redundant depth building. It kind of poorly over exposes Pennywise too in the process. It was just adding too much depth to characters we were already invested in by that point of the movie imo. It's almost like the script under estimates the natural chemistry of the cast.
We got some cool moments. Paul Bunyan, and Stephen King selling Bill Silver, and the Bob Gray scene was fantastic. There was real emotion for me when Eddie is gone and when Stan is reading the letter, which was an absolutely awesome flip. The bad ending book jokes were hilarious. Thought the Mellon scene was spectacular, and I thought they even did a nice job attempting to mirror the sewer scene with the bleachers.
I thought the final form was better than the 90s version, personally. It felt far more formidable as a monster. I wouldn't have minded some egg squishing, though. I didn't care for the cgi in the restaurant scene, but that is because the creature design wasn't very good imo. Cutting the Audra stuff out was the right move and made the ending better for me. So yeah, I don't expect to want to rewatch this one the way you can with the first one but I'll definitely buy it.

I was reading the book for the first time recently but fell off. So I thought the opening scene was a cool nod at the source material.

Thought chapter 1 was better, but part 2 was ok....didn’t like the whole ritual thing
