Anthem (parent company of Impact Wrestling) has bought a majority stake in AXS TV (the channel that shows NJPW). www.mandatory.com/wrestlezone/news/1133441-anthem-partners-with-mark-cuban-acquires-majority-interest-in-axs-tvI know this is not the TNA/Impact board, but what I want to do here is pose some questions on how this could affect the industry, itself. Or at least NJPW. What will the relationship between Anthem-AXS and NJPW be? Will Anthem start pushing for NJPW/Impact crossovers? Its been heard through the grapevine that NJPW does not want to work with Impact unless they "change management" aka no longer run by Anthem. But now those same people are the controllers of NJPW's channel. From the NJPW side, I feel like they have proven themselves with the AXS show and could find themselves another network fairly easily. If that actually, eventually happens...
I Also have a feeling that if AEW is any what successful, NJPW will drop RoH and align with AEW, making all of these questions somewhat moot. It makes too much sense for New Japan... 1. NJPW is trying to grow in North America, get a bigger foothold. AEW already has had way more exposure than RoH has ever had. 2. Being on TNT, AEW would be able to give a way better platform to their wrestlers than the Sinclair stations and syndication could ever do when they were on RoH. 3. Aligning with AEW would give them back access to all of their previous big stars.

That is bad news for AXS that they Anthem has their hands on it. NJPW is huge on there, so I assume there are stockholders at play that might disagree with torpedoing that; I agree with you that NJPW would be fine elsewhere, and might I say finally let that channel rot once and for all....it got demolished when it went from HDnet to the much worse AXS. NJPW would be smart to team with AEW, but from the BTE stuff the 2 don't get along so well. Maybe NJPW should do a regional partnership and bring all of the asia wrestling companies together (cross promote all) and show off on tv to spotlight all the amazing talent, styles, and storytelling that most stateside are missing out on. Just my 2 cents.

I don't have much interest in seeing any kind of NJPW/TNA crossover stuff. Does AXS really have any say in what NJPW does? I figured they just have a deal to air the weekly shows and any live stuff they do in the US is worked out separately.

It won’t have too much of a effect other than Impact gets off of Pursuit. AXS is still in a lot less homes than Destination America and Pop TV.

2. Being on TNT, AEW would be able to give a way better platform to their wrestlers than the Sinclair stations and syndication could ever do when they were on ROH. Also keep in mind that Sinclair has bought all of the Fox Sports Net channels. So they now have a nationwide cable sports platform. ROH could possibly be seen on major nationwide cable also.

First I heard of that. It'd be cool if ROH, and only ROH, finds its way among my region's Braves/Predators/Hawks/United programming.
