I would love for someone with more time on their hands to dig into this to see where else this has happened, but this seems like it can't be a coincidence:
1) Bludgeon Brothers get injured. Luke Harper wants out. Doesn't get it. Somehow, his partner gets pushed as a huge threat in tag and singles action.
2) Boss and Hug lose titles. Get taken off TV for unconfirmed reasons. Rumor was Sasha was really displeased and was complaining. Bayley gets a huge push.
3) Awesome Truth. Truth gets busted for drugs. Miz is pushed (Although not to a WWE or World Championship) (may not be the best example)
Why does it seem that if you're in a faction/tag team, if you're partner acts up, they push the other? I could understand both tag team members suffering together, or the one in good standing getting wins but no real push, but it seems like WWE punishes the squeaky wheel by pushing the friend/teammate.
Any other instances of this happening? Is this how it works in WWE?

I don't know if Bayley got a "huge" push. She was never a low carder and the Boss 'N' Hug Connection was two single stars slumming it to me.
I think it's probably a case of now having a new person on their own and finding something for them to do.
There are other factors to consider too. Such as The Rockers. Janetty's drug issues and Michaels spreading rumors about Jannetty aside, Marty has been quoted to say he was always just trying to make a living as opposed to Shawn. Marty was fine tagging or jobbing and didn't have much ambition for a singles run.

What I was looking at was factions/teams that ended up splitting because of backstage issues, with the offender getting punished by watching his/her partner get pushed.

I think it's more of a form of punishment

I think it's more of a form of punishment I have thought they push the other friend/partner/faction member to punish the offender in a passive aggressive manner. Sort of a "See? This is what you could have had" situation. I just wonder if those elevated would have been pushed but for the punishment.
