Well folks after witnessing the stupidity of Sunday night and a DQ in an effin HIAC match I had to go back and watch some of the brilliant encounters we have had within the walls of the cell.
I've done a poll but it only brings us up to the 1st PG Cell which was Undertaker vs Edge @ Summerslam 2008. select your top 5...if its something else? put it in the other bracket....
but for me the matches have been weak as f*ck since blood was banned. my top 5?
1)HBK vs Undertaker...1st & best.
2)Brock vs Undertaker.....man the drama. Brock accidentally busting UT open hardway….the cast on UTs arm....just the entire thing.
3) 6 Man HIAC....man it was all over the place but it was FUN. Plus watching it I didn't expect Angle to retain at all...LOL.
4) HHH vs Cactus....wasn't too sure about HHH in this match but between this & RR 2000? He really effin bossed it.
5) Batista vs HHH.....HHH did trojan work here and to me this is Batistas best match ever....it really is. HIAC vs UT was good too...BUT this was better.
your own thoughts?

It wasn’t a DQ it was a ref stoppage for a wrestler’s well being. But that’s neither here or there.
But my favorite was Triple H vs Cactus (actually just watched it again last week)

I always liked HHH vs Taker at WM, so much drama with HBK as the ref.

The one with Undertaker and Brock Lesnar looked like a real fight. My favorite HITC match is Mankind and Undertaker. It was great when Terry Funk got involved in the match.

Cool topic,
My first place goes to Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker. This match was a freaking masterpiece from the story leading up to it, the match itself and the debut of Kane. I really think that from bell to bell this match could be the best performance from both of these guys.
Second place would be Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar I loved the American Badass and he really made Brock seem like a monster in this match.
Third place was the 6 man Hell in a Cell. It was completely over booked and over the top, but man I ate this up when I watched it live. Never in a million years did I think Angle was walking out of this with the title.

We've discussed HIAC 97 at length but I completely agree with you about the other 2 choices as well. Taker did a great job over putting Brock over.....He was carrying a legit injury going in and weathered that hardway busting open so well. By the end of the match Brock looked absolutely legitimate as the top guy in WWE. He's standing atop the cell with UTs blood smeared on his chest and UT is lying in the ring quite literally in a puddle of his own blood. I was amazed watching this on 02. The 6 man......again the same as yourself. I thought they were building to Austin vs HHH @ WM17.....and I thought this is where HHH would have won the belt. I reckoned he would have maybe beaten UT @ RR & Rock @ NWO....before his feud with Austin was kicked off again then for WM17. Other than that I thought maybe Rock would win...by getting it back from Angle. Turns out I was right there...just at the wrong event. But no way did I think Kurt was retaining....thought it was the perfect to get the belt off him but keep him strong.

I went with HBK vs. Undertaker as my top pick. I legit just watched that PPV on Sunday and forgot just how great that match was.
For the rest I went with...
Foley vs. Taker at KOTR as my second. Just based on the craziness and excitement of the two big falls.
For third I went with Triple H vs. Jericho. That match was pretty brutal in a physical violence standpoint.
Fourth I went with Kevin Nash vs. Triple H. I thought that match was really good, and told a story.
And last but not least, I went with Lesnar vs. Undertaker. I remember how bloody Taker was in that. Lesnar climbing on top of the cell at the end of the PPV to show that he was the winner was a cool PPV ending.

It's funny, I don't have a great recollection of most of the more recent Hell in a Cell matches. I was lucky to be in attendance at Wrestlemania 28 for the "End of an Era" match between Undertaker/HHH which was a blast. Other than that, the only three that immediately come to mind are pretty notable. The 6-man HIAC from Armageddon 2000 was lots of fun as was the No Way Out encounter between HHH/Cactus Jack. Of course, Undertaker/Mankind from King of the Ring 1998 is a classic and probably the most famous of all the Hell in a Cell matches over the years.
However, my favorite is definitely the original from Badd Blood 1997. That match told a great story, was crazy without going overboard and concluded with the memorable debut of Kane. I know most people have the recent PPV on their mind because of the silly ending. It just makes you think about the origin of the match concept itself. The cell was created to make sure there was no escape and that there would be an undisputed winner. HBK had no way to escape. Watching him try to get away from Undertaker made that match even more entertaining with the constant "cat and mouse" game. It was a violent match that featured blood along with a few crazy spots like when they ascended the cage and HBK went crashing through the announcer's table.
It was extremely well-paced and, again, told a tremendous story which seems to be their biggest issue these days regarding the overexposure of high-profile gimmick matches.

Hard to cut it down to just five matches but I would go with,
Shawn Michaels Vs. The Undertaker-Bad Blood '97 Mankind Vs. The Undertaker-King of the Ring '98 Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker-WWE Title-No Mercy '02 Batista Vs. Triple H-World Title-Vengeance '05 Becky Lynch Vs. Sasha Banks-RAW Women's Title-Hell in the Cell '19
I know most will be shocked at my last pick but really felt that both women delivered and had the main roster match of the year.Bonus credit to them for thinking up multiple new weapons spots for a match that been around for 20 years or so and one that's done about 40 times.

Glad to see some love for Batista vs HHH @ Vengeance 2005.
That was the first 1 on 1 HIAC match HHH lost....it was a big deal & crucial for Batista. Just showed how good HHH was when he was interested in getting someone over. When he wasn't? you had MUCH different results....LOL
