Over the past week it has been constantly mention that Fox and USA want their own rosters and even Michael mentioned on commentary that he works for Fox. So after watching the first part of the draft it now looks like the network executives are in charge of the shows and ever since Shane was fired the company is now left with no Authority figure.
If this is the case I'm not sure how I feel because authority figures have been part of professional wrestling for over 20 years and I can't help but feel that this current brand split is incomplete without two GM's in charge.

I know Heyman went on record recently and said that the authority figure was an antiquated idea in wrestling. I'm not sure if that is a sentiment the entire company shares, but you may be right in that the new "authority figure" are the networks themselves which could help push the brand split narrative further.

Hope to God so. lol I'll take it over the tired evil gm angle if it means the show wont revolve around the execs. But we still saw Stephanie of course so who knows.

If that's the case I can deff see them have a "network exec" like how Heyman had Cyrus back in the ECW on TNN days

The authority figures in wrestling have played out. And they've been played out for the last 15 years.

I'd take a bunch of idiots caked in Ultimate Warrior face paint that don't know what a suplex is over McMahon's any day.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure we’ve had a version of “The Network” in both WCW and TNA in the last 20 years. Wrestling’s been going long enough that there’s very little left to do for the first time.

Authority figures may have been around for over 20 years, but wrestling also did just fine without that for a long time. Like Jack Tunney used to be in charge but he really just showed up occasionally to make announcements. Fun fact is he didn’t even really work for WWF. He was a promoter that helped them out when they did shows in Canada.

"The Network" didn't work out too well for ECW on TNN in '99-'00

As long as the Executive Directors are in charge behind the scenes, on-air authority figures can disappear for a while. I would love to see Heyman and Bischoff on TV as the GMs, but I'd rather have them actually running things, than just playing a role.

The only way I want to see an authority figure on WWE television again is Jack Tunney style.
When he turned up on camera it made whatever it was he was discussing a huge deal because you'd only see him a couple of times a year.
Why should we need someone to pretend to make the matches as part of the show? Kayfabe-wise, that would mean every show that was advertised had no card until it started.
