Does this movie mention Gotham, Batman, etc. at all? Going back to the pre-Joker '19 world, I was trying to think of the last villain stand-alone DC movie, and this one came to mind. But she's a hero in this, right? Trying to get as much information as possible; I've always heard that it's a terrible, terrible film.

It mentions Gotham but not Batman, I'm pretty sure.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with anything DC comics related except the name Catwoman.
It is not based in Gotham, the character she plays was never in the comics, and they basically gave her The Crow's animal-resurrection-for-revenge origin because, hell, why not?
The movie is terrible, laughable, and best forgotten.

No connection to the comics whatsoever and easily DCs worst movie. Considering they made Supergirl, Batman & Robin & Superman 3 & 4? That's quite a f*ckin statement.
This was a "passion project" for Halle Berry. She used her Box office muscle from the X-Men movies to get this done....She had a heavy hand in producing it and the creative aspect....costume included. Then when it bombed and stunk up the planet to the point of near evacuation? She stood back and blamed everyone else for it.

Batman & Robin is better than Catwoman….again an incredible statement. That really is saying something. Both are terrible but like I stated earlier, at least it has redeemable qualities. Folks forget that in the 90s when you played a comic book villain you essentially played it as Jack Nicholson playing the Joker. Really it wasn't until X-Men in 2000 when villains went the more serious route.

Catwoman is probably my third favorite DC character but I never watched this movie. I remember the first pictures getting released of the outfit and I was out.
And none of the Batman films from 89-97 are perfect but they all have there pros.

Not sure why I remember this movie so well. Probably because it's that bad that I can't believe it exists. Being a huge Bat-Fan I asked my mom to take me to the theatre to see it back in 2004...in hindsight the memories seem more like PTSD. Anyways, there's ONE reference in this terrible movie that relates to Batman Returns. Halle Barry is talking to Francis Conroy's insane cat-lady character (she moved way up in the Batman spinoff pantheon with Joker) where at one point they show a bunch of photos of previous "cat" women on the floor. One of the photos is of Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman.
...Also, kind of crazy that this movie came out only one year before Batman Begins.

It was really tough for me to stay to the end with this movie. Not only the horrible costume and the bad cgi that looked like a video game cut scene when she's jumping around buildings,( Sure, Raimi's Spider-Man had that too but I at least was enjoying that movie so it's okay. lol ) but it also felt like a Sex And The City movie half the time. Very gal pal, girls swooning over a hunky detective in a leather jacket etc. Thankfully they have yet another chance to get it right with the new Zoe Kravitz version in The Batman.

Anne Hathaway did well as the character in DKR IMHO. Sure it was a stripped down version of her like everything in the Nolan movies but I felt she went over well.
Burtons supernatural version of the character was also very enjoyable for me.

Comfortably Catwoman. At least Shaqs Steel movie had a passing resemblance to the character & story buddy. I think I have figures from that someplace....LOL

And honestly I wish I had done the same with the Steel movie. lol
