McFarlane Toy's Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty: "Solid Snake"
Price: 9.99(Plus Tax)
Purchased From: GameStop, several years ago
[glow=black,2,300]Solid Snake[/glow]
"Legends are fiction, kid. Someone tells it, someone else remembers, everyone passes it on."
Size: 6 3/8" Tall
Accessories: Beretta 92F pistol with hip holster, Famas G2 assault rifle with M203 grenade launcher, attached sling and bipod, various attached ammo pouches and flexible headband. Package comes with left leg of Metal Gear Ray
Packaging: Cardboard backed blisted pack
Paint Application/Sculpt: This figure was released in 2001, when McFarlane actually made interesting action figures outside of Sportspicks. It remains one of my favorite figures in my collection to this day. While the paint application isn't flawless, the colorization on the sneaking suit is fantastic. The one downfall is the beard, which looks a little sloppy in person. Other than that, this is in my opinion, the definitive Solid Snake action figure. One of my favorite features is the holster for the pistol on Snake's right hip. It makes storing accessories a lot easier ~ 9/10
Accessories: Here is an area where I feel McFarlane could have provided more. The Metal Gear game series was all about accessories. While he does come with two guns, there were other little things that TMP could have thrown in to make it a little more exciting, perhaps a cardboard box? Perhaps a scope/binoculars? A couple of grenades? I feel TMP did a better job accessorizing their Metal Gear Solid, original Solid Snake, eventhough overall it is an inferior action figure ~ 7/10
Articulation: Shockingly, for a McFarlane Action Figure, Snake features 19 points of articulation. Despite the heavy articulation, the upper body could have used a little work. The shoulders should have been ball-jointed, so should the neck. While it may have taken a bit away from the appearance, the posability/interactivity would have been great enough for it to be acceptable ~ 6/10
Overall: I am glad I picked these figures up when I first saw them, as they are very hard to come by right now(especially the major characters.) Despite being a little on the old side, released in 2001, this figure stands out in my collection as one of my favorites, along with the rest of the series(which may eventually appear on this feature.) I would recommend purchasing him for any Metal Gear Solid fan, but I don't know if the prices he currently sells for is worth it to a casual fan. I almost regret not buying the first Metal Gear Solid series when I had a chance, as those are harder to accquire than these~ 8.7/10(not an average)
