I respect everyone's opinions in here & Cena is in that elite club....but he isn't near the level of stardom that Hogan & Austin had. Sorry but he hasn't. Both guys were also universally adored by the crowd in their heyday.
John never had 100% crowd support from late 2005 onwards.

There isn’t anyone let alone 10. The streak should have remained intact until he retired. It made WrestleMania that much more of a spectacle.

1: Shawn Michaels 2: Edge 3: Bray Wyatt 4:Randy Orton 5: Kane 6: John Cena 7: Sting 8: Aleister Black 9: Triple H 10: CM Punk
However, I don't think the streak should've ever ended

No one. The streak should not have ended. So the undertaker rides off into the sunset without putting anyone over? Being in the ring with Taker at WrestleMania automatically puts you over. Look at Bret vs Austin for example, Bret won the match, but Austin was put over

Even if we absolutely had to have Brock vs Taker; why not have Taker beat Brock and that's why Brock goes on his rampage?

Yup....you could have had UT NARROWLY beat Brock and have Lesnar crow about how he was lucky and is too chickencrapfor a rematch....build it like crazy. I will always stand by the fact that the same could have been done for Ryback when he faced Punk in the Cell. Ryback shouldn't have beaten him..no way no how....but they could have made him look like a million $$ losing. Neither Punk nor Vince were interested in help create another star.

A lot of promotions have a hard time protecting stars. Having Paul come out and say Taker's too much of a b*tch to accept a SummerSlam rematch would be awesome, and Brock could beat him there where Taker faces Sting at Mania 31 after

I was not a fan of the streak. I didn't enjoy the built-in, no effort story they started running with at WrestleMania 21. I don't think Taker needed to do it to put anyone over. There's been chatter through years of people alleged to be in talks to do it. I've heard names like Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, and others to do it. Imagine if they used it to try to put a younger guy over. I bet it would have been squandered and forgotten like a 2010 WHC reign. If someone had to do it, Lesnar is the right call. But there was no real need to break it. I used to hope it'd be broken so Taker could retire. Then it was, and, well...

No one! They pissed away the streak for 3 minutes of shock value that followed. Brock Lesnar looked no stronger for doing it. For me the streak was one of the last good things left in wrestling and they took a big dump on it for nothing!
However, knowing that the streak was going to be pissed away anyway, Randy Orton gets my vote to end it back in 2005. Out of all the people he has faced at wrestlemania, Orton(at this point in his career) makes the most sense. The "romantic" choice is of course Kane.

I always thought Kane, since he's ''the blood and flesh''. Plus in the 2010 rivalry, he had ''grown stronger''. So this may have worked.
If Edge broke it, as a mark i'd be jumping up and down. It would be weird seeing where Edge would go from that point. Not good idea. Bray Wyatt or Cena would of been good options.

If anyone, it should have been someone who could have TRULY benefitted from ending the streak. All these names being thrown around were already established stars, basically. Lesnar was the wrong choice in my book, as he was already a big name, and has mainstream crossover appeal. I do realize this is a Classic thread, but Taker is still obviously willing to put his gear on and work, even if he's slowed down a lot.
And I'm not saying have some no name end it. But looking at some guys with no direction; a good example would be someone like Drew Mcyntire. It would put him on the map in wrestling history forever. Lesnar's win was shocking, and I'm sure Mark Calloway had given his blessing on Lesnar winning. I just feel Lesnar, and a lot of the other guys mentioned in this thread didn't need to end the streak.

Bruiser Brody could have done it if he was around. I'm sure you can ask Mark Calaway about that.
