Most wrestlers have different eras of their careers and it's hard to pick a definitive attire or gimmick for someone, so if you had a roster and wanted to include a performer's different gimmicks would/have you created a 'new' character so that they can both be on the same roster together, but as separate people? (Some like Papa Shango and Godfather are so different they are already done for us) For instance: Elite 32 and Elite 67 WCW Rey Mysterios I use as "Rey Jr" and the WWE ones are just "Mysterio". The Entrance Greats Kurt Angle with hair is simply "The Olympian". Long haired Chris Jerichos are "Y2J". Short haired Zigglers in those hot pant things are "The Show-off Nick Nemeth". Shawn Michaels in tights is "HBK". The Target NXT Rollins is Tyler Black. I headswapped him so he doesn't the blond streak, but my actual Rollins character does. I have a Doink the Clown (Flashback Elite) and "Evil Doink" (Elite 34). I have The Rock and Dwayne Johnson, with my bald figures being Dwayne. Since Legends Series Brian Pillman is so named, his Elite 47 figure is just "Flyin' Brian". If you remember the whole Sin Cara Negro storyline, I have Sin Cara Rouge & Sin Cara Azure that are separate characters to Sin Cara from Elite 44, who teams with Kalisto from Elite 42. I have some controversial ones with the Hart Foundation series 43 Elites known as "The Hitman" and "The Anvil", while singles Bret is just Bret Hart and likewise, the upcoming Jim Neidhart will be named just that too. Another one is trunks Randy Savage and in tights he's Macho Man.
Anyone else do this? Anyone think this is sacrilegious?

For playability I think it is a cool concept

Kind of. I have 2 main displays-2009 to Current and Legends. I have Demon Finn Balor in my Current display, so when I bought B98 Finn Balor, I had to put him in my Legends display as Prince Devitt.

You mean in a fig fed? Why would you have multiple versions of the same person on one show/roster?

You mean in a fig fed? Why would you have multiple versions of the same person on one show/roster? Yes. It's because some gimmicks/eras are too good to miss out on or just have a wrestler represent just one part of their career when they were equally relevant (or even not!). Plus, it really pads out a roster too and makes extra characters. I may not necessarily have them on the same rosters, but paths can cross in Royal Rumbles and other cross brand events, but some may end up on the same roster. Lord Tensai can be on the same roster as Sweet T, but since Sweet T is in the tag division with The Funkasaurus, it's not a noticable issue.

This reminds me of that old wrestlemania game on Nintendo where you could face the character you were playing as but the attires would be slightly different

I am having some difficulty figuring out where to draw the line between Dean Ambrose and Jon Moxley. What exactly would be the circumstances for him going by a different name? It's easy for, say, Hall and Nash to shed their gimmick names because of the overgimmickyness of Razor and Diesel. Why drop one proper name for another?

That one isn't really an issue for me since I would have Moxley be a short haired Ambrose & Mattel never made one. But if there was a clear difference between gimmicks it would be possible.

I remember my Hasbro Repo-Man competing in the same Rumble as Smash back in 1989, but this is not what you people are talking about, do you?

I usually re-name certain figures that I buy a better version of and make them jobbers like: Daniel Bryan's early non-bearded figure, non-bearded Nexus Justin Gabriel, Nexus spiky haired Darren Young, the 1st Mason Ryan figure, Skip Sheffield and Ministry Undertaker and Debut Kane (those 2 are not jobbers). I also popped some Jakks heads like Basham Bros, Tyson Tomko, Elijah Burke, Rico & Heidenrech, etc. and put them on extra Mattel bodies and made them jobbers also.

Kind of cheating but...
Back in 2009 i wanted a Kevin Nash figure, ended up getting the RSC Outsiders 2 pack for my birthday but didn't want to damage them, so i didn't use them often.
Instead i took the Deluxe 12 HBK, wrapped tape around the head for a bandanna, wrote 'Nash' on it and that became my Kevin Nash. In my mind, blonde hair, red pants and being Deluxe height was enough for me. Thing is, i used him the same time as HBK, which was whatever attire i used as a RA figure. I do recall playing a Rumble and having both in the ring ta the same time, so i guess we had HBK & HBKNash.

My godson Conor has Cody Rhodes in 3 separate personas.....
Stardust & Goldust are a team...a top team at that.
Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase Jr are a tag team: "Legacy"
Basic Blue/White Cody with a moustache is renamed "Clint Reynolds" because of the CR on his gear and paired with Blue/White Damien Sandow as a jobber team that takes pastings quite regular from new debuting teams LOL....
He knows he is getting the new Drew Elite for Christmas...so I see recently He has Drew McIntyre's basic from his original run renamed as "McCann" & is part of his British Invasion faction with Regal, Barrett, Finlay & Mason Ryan....they are also mostly jobbers. But the Finlay/Regal team competes quite highly in the tag scene as the "Hardliners"
Original basic Luke Gallows from the 2 pack with Punk has Bossmans balaclava on and is a mystery ally of HHHs "Regime" faction. He has interfered regularly in Regime matches & HHH/Steph deny they know who he is....dun dun dun....LOL

I send older versions of wrestlers from my collection to charity. I've a big collection but Ill freely admit to not having the imagination( or time) as much as Id love to to run a figure fed like Conor and his buddies do. Any more comments to make?

I have Stardust, the red elite is Cody Rhodes, the black Legacy elite is Cody Runnels and the elite with the mask is Dashing Cody. Bald Kane is.......Kane, the modern Kane is The Demon Kane, early masked Kane is Fake Kane and I have the elite Corporate Kane as Mayor Glenn Jacobs. Likewise, I have Undertaker as the up to date version, but there is also The Ministry Taker, The Underfaker (grey gloves Taker), who all have a loose association with each other and the Kanes, but the American Badass and Big Evil versions are separate entities entirely. Big Boss Man in the blue shirt is 'The Boss Man' Ray Traylor and the heel flak jacket version is Big Bad Man, which admittedly is a bit lame, I should maybe change it to Big Bastard since he was pretty nasty about Big Show's dead dad 😂
