I think CM Punk will eventually wrestle again.
Honestly, most about what he hated about WWE has already changed.
His issues were that he felt disrespected, over-worked, under-valued, and essentially what he wanted most was time off to rest and heal, and he wasn't given that.
In 2012-2014, really the only people getting that special treatment was Brock, and Rock.
Now, people like Charlotte, Randy Orton, Finn Balor, and others are given time off to just "refresh", "take breaks", "vacations/honeymoons", heal from various injuries and sicknesses.
I think WWE would pay Punk very well to work a less than full time schedule, give him more than enough time to explore his other interests (both personal and professional).
Not to mock his catchphrase that he wants to "change the culture", but the culture in WWE really already has changed and it has been changing for years. Maybe he was the catalyst behind it all and his walking out for NOT getting what he wanted is the reason why talent IS getting what they want now.
And honestly, CM Punk in his absence from WWE has grown even more popular and more desired that I think WWE probably would give him the WrestleMania main event this time around.
5 years ago when Punk wanted things and was told no and then they went and gave them to Brock instead and the explanation was "well, Brock is special".....I would argue that Punk is in that category now. They had somebody like Seth Rollins beat Brock twice clean....I could see Punk beating Brock for the WWE Title at WrestleMania.

Years ago, we would have said the same thing about him working on a WWE show. Here we are. Just gotta let this thing play out. The bottom line is that at least he's back in the game. That's a good place to start. If he wasn't open to the idea, why would he want to waste his time being on a show about WWE? I'm sure he could have gotten paid as much or MORE to do something else. HE CHOSE to audition for a WWE show. HE CHOSE to accept a job on a WWE show. Essentially, HE CHOSE WWE! Even if his current employment is directly through FOX, it's still associated with WWE. And why take a job talking about WWE? Why not get a job on FOX talking about UFC? The Blackhawks? The Cubs? Why not audition for shows on other networks covering comics, TV shows/movies he likes (like he did with the Talking Dead). CM Punk has appeared on a WWE show for the first time in over 5 years. This is a good first step.

Dude can't even hit a good looking GTS anymore. Punk in ring return will be one of those things we think we desperately want... Until we get it.

This is a good first step. Could he have done any of those other things, though? I'm a Punk fan, I can't believe the heat he gets for speaking his mind about the way WWE screwed him (loyalists be damned, why does he have any reason to lie whatsoever?) but I have a feeling he has tried to push on acting, comic opportunities, etc etc and he's just having a harder time making the jump to get a substantial amount of money. It's nuclear what Rock has done, it's almost even more impressive what Batista has done, but could Punk really do the same? I'm honestly hoping for his success as someone also suffering from wrestling burnout but I just don't know if I see the level of depth there that he tends to talk about when he says he's 'busy'. But obviously I don't know him personally. Either way I think it's a valid question, but I'm happy that most wrestling fans are ok with opening their arms to him.

So glad he refused Khan's offer. I watched about 20 minutes of Raw this Monday. Terrible show after a good showing last week. If Punk returns to WWE TV, I won't even waste the 20 minutes. I feel like its inevitable now, especially with Wrestlemania season looming. I really hope I'm wrong. Wondered when you'd pipe up...

Honestly days later I still find this mindblowing. I always thought Punk would eventually be back, everyone always come back as long as there is money to be made. But I didn't think we'd see him until his Hall of Fame induction. So this is just huge! And the fact that he seems so genuinely happy about it and nervous to do a good job in the behind the scenes video is just really cool to me.
I honestly thought we'd see an AJ Lee return long before Punk, but now that Punk is back, I'm sure it won't be too long before AJ returns as well.
I really hope he returns to WWE TV in some role. Honestly, I don't even need him wrestling (though obviously wouldn't say no).

He'll be back in the ring within the next year or so and possibly at Wrestlemania. To much money to be had and as others have stated WWE has changed a lot in nearly the 6 years that he's been gone.Surely he won't wrestle full time or anything like that but I strongly believe in the next year or so he'll be doing commentary on Smackdown or RAW and wrestle from time to time.
I just wonder what route they'll go for his 1st match back ? a blood feud with Triple H with all of their real life issues ? Dream match up against Seth Rollins(yes we saw Punk mix it up with the Shield back in last 2013 but this would be totally different) or someone totally fresh like Adam Cole,Ciampa,Gargano,Corbin..ect ?

Don't like Punk. Never have. Never will. That said, the shot of adrenaline he's bound to inject into the WWE, even if it's just backstage on Fox's payroll, should be great.

Only way I'll watch the backstage crap is he actually gets to say what he thinks and feels. Like most of the story lines are complete crap, certain wrestlers have no business being top of the card, and that he knows how it feels to be a fan favorite and a big merch seller and get treated like crap.

Yes, should be interesting if he really speaks his mind about the current story lines or tows the company line.

Speaking from just a Youtube vantage point, I was surprised to see him doing a lot of media for his recent movie. It was just out of nowhere seemingly. I've become numb to any sort of non-wrestling legend talking head on WWE TV, but it's cool to have back in the fold.

I have a gut feeling that tonight he will make it fully understandable that he will not ever be back as a wrestler in any way. Hope I'm wrong, but it's just the feeling that I get.

I think a lot of people are missing the fact that this is strictly a deal with Fox. In no way is he affiliated with WWE, other than appearing on a show that covers their product. He's an analyst, he doesn't have to please anybody but Fox.
I hope he addresses both McMahon and Kahn as it relates to his future tonight, but I expect him to stay out of the ring. He would have taken the bag of money the Kahn's offered if he truly wanted to wrestle. I doubt WWE is going to offer him a better schedule and money.

Whether their desires are to see him wrestle again or blast him as another "Never Vincer" that came crawling back on their knees, him being signed by FOX Sports and not by WWE doesn't suit the narrative they want to talk about.

Anyone else just get the feeling that he’ll be filming a WWE network documentary now ahead of his return at Survivor Series?
