At WrestleMania 14. Shawn Michaels left the WWF due to an injury, but did make some sporadic appearances despite in his drunk state from the Early 2000s until getting help and becoming a born-again christian, What if that happened early after Michaels's son was born and he could be cleared to return to the ring as early as 2002, and could have 12 good years in his career until retiring for good in 2012.
2000:
In Late 1999 on WWF.COM, Shawn Michaels announces that he cleaned up his act of no longer taking drugs and drinking cause of his son Cameron and that he found religion and that he married as well, he also announces that he was cleared to wrestle meaning that he would no longer be WWF Commissioner. Many think that Michaels's planned return to the ring would be at WrestleMania 16 maybe to confront Triple H, On January 15, 2000. He and his wife Rebecca welcome Cameron into the world. 7 days later, he gets on a plane and flies from Texas to New York where Madison Square Garden is hosting the Royal Rumble, Michaels is assumed to be interviewed by Michael Cole, Cole asks him who will win the Royal Rumble. Michaels says that it's going to be The Rock but says that he has a sneaky suspicion that someone will ruin it. The Rock enters the Rumble Match as it is just him, Big Show, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, The Outlaws, Cactus Jack and X-Pac. Yes, I have Cactus Jack in the Rumble Match because Triple H beat Mankind in a Street Fight and Foley returned as his alter ego in Cactus Jack. #30 arrives and it's Shawn Michaels but he doesn't show up. Then suddenly he appears from behind and nails The Rock with Sweet Chin Music. Michaels then grabs The Rock and tosses him over the top rope and Michaels begins to beat the hell out of The Rock eliminating himself. Cactus eventually wins the Royal Rumble by last eliminating The Big Show setting the stage between him and Triple H at WrestleMania for the title. The next night on RAW. Michaels appears on RAW and tells The Rock that the whole thing between him and The Rock had just begun. Michaels plays a replay of him costing The Rock the WWF Title on the first edition of SMACKDOWN and then plays another replay of costing him the Royal Rumble Match. Michaels says that he did that because he hates the spotlight being taken from his buddy Triple H and that The Rock is stealing it. Triple H enters the ring with Stephanie and hugs Shawn reuniting the original DX. Pac and The Outlaws still join. Michaels and Triple H then challenge Rock and Cactus to a Tag Team Match at No Way Out, with Cactus and Rock accepting. Michaels and The Game win the match with Michaels hitting Cactus with Sweet Chin Music in HBK's first match back. But the whole thing between him and The Rock ain't over. The Rock challenges Michaels to a match at Wrestlemania 16 to prove who the icon is in the World Wrestling Federation. Michaels goes as far as taunting The Rock by using his "Just Bring It" and also his catchphrases, Michaels takes on Kane in his first RAW Match on March 20, 2000 in which Michaels wins in his first RAW Match with help from X-Pac who is in a feud with Kane. The Rock shows up and fends off X-Pac but gets attacked by Michaels. Michaels busts The Rock open with a steel chair and hits an elbow drop on the announce table breaking the table in half. Michaels stands untop of The Rock doing the DX Suck it to him. The Rock takes SMACKDOWN and RAW off but returns on March 30, 2000 to have an epic confrontation with Shawn Michaels, and it is the mainevent segment. Their segment lasts 15 to 20 minutes with Michaels and The Rock both cutting a shoot promo on each other and it ends with Michaels and Rock exchanging blows but it has to be separated by officials and superstars. So this leads to the match of the ages, Michaels vs Rock. Rock and Shawn have a 25-30 minute match with Rock kicking out of a Sweet Chin Music and Michaels kicking out of The Rock Bottom and The People's Elbow, but it's Michaels that gets the win over The Rock in a clean finish by hitting the Sweet Chin Music. Rock is upset and demands a rematch with Shawn for Backlash in which Michaels says that he beat The Rock's ass once and he can beat his ass twice. The Rock would then cost Michaels a match with Chris Jericho who is now the challenger against Triple H for the title at Backlash. Rock vs Michaels happens for Backlash, it's similar to Wrestlemania. But in the end The Rock avenges his WrestleMania loss by evening the series, the two have one final match at Judgment Day to determine who the better man is, it's a 60-Minute Ironman Match and it main events the show, The Rock wins in a 6-5 fashion over Michaels. After the match, both men shake hands, and HBK is now a face for a bit. After Judgment Day, The Game and The Faction get upset at Shawn for losing to The Rock that they beat down Shawn, but Shawn gets saved by his former rival The Undertaker. Shawn is also kicked out of DX. Triple H is also still the WWF Champion and he will face The Undertaker and The Rock for the title in a 3-Way Dance at the King of The Ring. Michaels uses this as an opportunity to advance to the 2000 King of The Ring defeating The Big Show to advance. Shawn defeats Eddie Guerrero in the quarter-finals and gets through The Big Bossman in the semi-finals and it's just him and Angle who fight a good King of The Ring Final Match similar. Michaels almost gets the win by hitting Sweet Chin Music on Angle but the referee is down and that allows Triple H to interefere and attack Michaels hitting him with the pedigree and awards the victory to Angle. Angle wins the 2000 King of The Ring as HBK's dream of becoming WWF Champion again gets shattered. Michaels gets retaliation for costing The Game the title in his Triple Threat Match and gives The Rock the Championship. The Game and Michaels get into a war of words the next night. Michaels wants a match with Triple H at Fully Loaded. But The Game sends X-Pac and Road Dogg to attack Shawn until he's saved by The Dudley Boys leading to Commissioner Foley booking a 6-Man Tag Team Match between HBK and The Dudley Boys against DX. Michaels gets the win for his team hitting Road Dogg with Sweet Chin Music. The next night on RAW. Shawn is attacked by an unknown assiliant. The Game is concerned and wants to find out who it is, he then accuses every superstar on the entire roster on SMACKDOWN even his wife Stephanie. Stephanie responds by throwing his flowers that he gave Stephanie at her leading to marital problems between him and Stephanie. The next night on RAW. Michaels is live via satellite by request of Mick Foley. Michaels reveals who the attacker is and low and behold, it was Triple H leading to a match at Summerslam between the two with Triple H threatening to cripple Shawn and Shawn threatening to hurt Triple H. Stephanie pleads with Shawn not to hurt Triple H as they are going through a tough time together right now, but Shawn blatanly refuses and hits Stephanie with Sweet Chin Music 2 weeks before Summerslam leading to a match between him and Stephanie's brother Shane on SMACKDOWN. Michaels seems to have the upper hand against Shane and just mercifully beats him down until Triple H comes out to attack and bludgenes Shawn bloodying him up and hitting him with a sledgehammer. Michaels refuses to be carted away and continues the fight with Triple H in the backstage area. Mick Foley takes action and bars both men from RAW and SMACKDOWN on the go-home show before Summerslam. Michaels and Triple H's match at Summerslam is a No Disqualifaction, No Countout Match. Michaels still shows that he's still got it as he proves that he can still go. But The Game is out for blood and even cripples Michaels. Michaels desperately fights back and hits Sweet Chin Music but it's not enough to put The Game down. Stephanie shows up while Michaels attempts to hit The Game with a sledgehammer and begs him not to hurt her husband. Stephanie then suddenly in a desperate act slaps Michaels revealing that they didn't have marital problems to begin with and that allows The Game to viciously and mercifully beat down Shawn. He hits 3 pedigrees on Shawn but does not go for the cover. Shawn's wife Rebecca is watching this and jumps out of the crowd with a towel in hand as Triple H is ready to finish it off with the Sledgehammer Shot. Rebecca throws in the towel and the match ends. Stephanie then grabs Rebecca and locks in a sleeper hold telling Rebecca to watch what Triple H does to her husband. The Game then hits Michaels in his injured back with the Sledgehammer. Michaels is loaded to an ambulance after the match, but returns in October of 2000 looking to get revenge on Triple H. It's also at the same time, Stone Cold is back and wants to find out who ran him over with the car?. Foley reveals that Triple H was the mastermind that had someone ran down Stone Cold and Foley would book a match between The Game and Austin for Survivor Series in a No Disqualifaction Match. Austin has the match won, but as Triple H fights back and looks to take out Austin with a sledgehammer suddenly Shawn Michaels comes through the crowd and snatches the Sledgehammer away from Triple H. The two get into a face to face confrontation but then Michaels turns around and smashes Austin in the skull with the Sledgehammer proving that Michaels and Triple H were working together all along, and that the rivalry was just a setup. The next night on RAW. Michaels explains his actions and says that he stole The Rock's car and ran down Stone Cold Steve Austin because he wanted Austin to feel the same pain he felt 2 years ago when he was beat at Wrestlemania 14 with a bad back. Rikishi is not involved in the angle as he is still a face. Austin comes down to attack Michaels but Triple H saves Michaels from the attack and the two gang up on Austin. Austin demands to Foley that he take on both men in a Handicap Match at Armageddon, but Foley refuses without a partner. Austin looks high and low, but then The Rock volunteers to be Austin's partner because The Rock wants redemption for Michaels stealing The Rock's car at the 1999 Survivor Series. The Rock and Austin beat the reformed DX in a tag team match, but the feud is not over between Michaels, Austin and The Game leading into 2001.
2001:
Vince McMahon returns and still hates Austin's guts that he awards Michaels the #1 Contender for the WWF Title at the 2001 Royal Rumble because of his tremendous comeback last year. The WWF Title is held still by Kurt Angle. Angle claims that the last time he and Michaels were in the ring was when Angle beat him, Michaels says that it was all in the past and now that he's back with Triple H. Things are going to be different again. Michaels wins the WWF Title for the fourth time at the Royal Rumble by hitting Angle with Sweet Chin Music in a good match. Vince shows up to hug Shawn and awards him as the corporate Champion. Vince looks up to both Shawn and Triple H as father figures as Triple H is indeed the father-in-law of Vince McMahon cause he married his wife Stephanie. Austin eventually wins the 2001 Royal Rumble by last eliminating Kane. Michaels and The Game still continue to play head games on Austin. Michaels retains the WWF Title at No Way Out in a rematch over Angle while Triple H goes over Austin in the 3 stages of hell match. And the match between Michaels and Austin is set for WrestleMania 17. But the power goes to Triple H's head saying that since he beat Austin. He should be involved in the match, so it's a Triple Threat Match for the WWF Title. Michaels vs Triple H vs Austin. Michaels is of course upset and questions Triple H if he's with him or against him?. It all comes to a head on the go-home show of RAW with The Game not only hitting Austin with the pedigree, but also Michaels as well proving that he does not want a friendship in this match, he just wants the WWF Title. It's a Triple Threat between these 3 great competitors, we surprisingly don't get the Austin heel turn. Austin wins by hitting Triple H with the stunner and becomes the Champ for the fifth time. Michaels takes time off, but returns in time for the Invasion Angle in where Nash and Hall are trying to bring Triple H back home to the KLIQ to join WCW. But The Game flat out refuses and that allows Nash and Hall to beat him down setting up a match between Nash and Triple H for the 2001 Invasion. Triple H brings his surprise manager to help him against Nash and Hall, and it's his old buddy Shawn Michaels. The Game wins the match with help from Shawn, but it sets up an attack the next night with the NWO attacking Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Hogan of course has his own agenda as he challenges Austin for the WWF Title at Summerslam 2001. Of course Triple H & Shawn are upset and want a match with The Outsiders for the 2001 Summerslam. The matchup is a No Holds Barred Tag Team Match. The reformed DX and The Outsiders fight for 20 and 25 minutes, but Nash gets the win by hitting a jackknife powerbomb on the steel stairs on Shawn to get the victory. Also, Hall wins the Intercontinental Title over Edge in Canada due to intereference by Christian with Christian betraying Edge and joining the WCW team. Leads to Hall challenging Michaels for the Intercontinental Title again. Michaels accepts, but this time they do it in another match that helped made them famous, a ladder match. Nash and Triple H are in both combatants's corner. And it is a show-stealing match once again, Michaels captures his fourth Intercontinental Championship once more. But Michaels would drop the title the next night to Rob Van Dam cleanly. RVD has also joined the WCW Team. He made his debut in April of 2001 as part of the WWF. Michaels challenges RVD to a rematch for the title at No Mercy but comes up short with RVD retaining the title due to shenagians. Michaels is a part of the Winner Take All 2001 Survivor Series Elimination Match, he, Triple H, The Rock, The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin all team up to take on Goldberg, Ric Flair, Sting, Booker T and Diamond Dallas Page. Michaels eliminates Flair setting up a potential feud between him and Flair. But he's eliminated by Goldberg, in the end. Team WCW wins and Eric Bischoff now owns control of not only the WCW, But the WWF. All of the WWF Rebel against this, In Bischoff's first act. He sets up a match between Michaels and Flair at Starrcade. Flair and Michaels put on a good match, but in the end. Flair defeats Michaels of course with shenagians again.
2002:
Bischoff still keeps the Royal Rumble Match, but the tension between Michaels and Flair still continues. Bischoff decides that both men would enter the Rumble at #1 and #2 giving their past Royal Rumble histories together. Michaels and Flair of course start the Royal Rumble off with the two getting into a slugfest, but when the #22 entrant arrives. Michaels eliminates Flair, but Flair returns with a steel chair and hits Michaels in the face with it. Michaels is a bloody mess and that allows The Big Show who also returns to WCW to pick up the bones and eliminate The Heartbreak Kid. Michaels is upset, wants a match with Flair but Flair refuses. However Bischoff gives Michaels and Flair the opportunity to wrestle at Superbrawl. But Bischoff books WarGames, Flair and Michaels choose their partners. Michaels chooses The Brothers of Destruction, The Rock, Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin while Flair picks Goldberg, Sting, Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page and Hollywood Hogan who won the WWF Championship over Austin and Austin had to win his fourth Royal Rumble Match. The match ends in a pinfall with Michaels pinning Flair to get the victory. That leads to a match between the two at WrestleMania 18 in one of the greatest battles of all time, the Canadian Crowds is still hatred against Shawn Michaels that the fans chant for Flair to win. Michaels eventually wins by hitting a Sweet Chin Music on Flair. After, the WCW and WWF feud ends, but Bischoff stays because Bischoff is the RAW General Manager and Bischoff's competition for the SMACKDOWN General Manager is Vince's son Shane. Bischoff picks Shawn Michaels as the fifth pick on RAW is WAR. Bischoff also takes the World Heavyweight Title to RAW. The World Heavyweight Championship would be taken to RAW, Shawn would of course take more time off, a longer extended period of time off because of his religion. But returns at the 2002 Survivor Series in the first ever Elimination Chamber Match. Triple H is now a heel again and Shawn begins to question Triple H and his motives and also forming Evolution which leads to Evolution attacking Shawn. At the 2002 Survivor Series. Michaels captures the World Title over The Game in the Chamber as it is in real life. But The Game would win back the title at Armageddon.
2003:
Now that Triple H was World Champion again, Michaels wanted to win it back and the better way to do it was to be the second man to win the Royal Rumble for the third time. Michaels however gets confronted by the Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho who says that he idolized Shawn. Yes, The Intercontinental Title is not abolished in this booking. Jericho eliminates Shawn in the Royal Rumble Match. Shawn entered the Rumble at #19 eliminating Jamal, Test, Rikishi and Matt Hardy, but Jericho entered at #26 and eliminated him. Michaels is upset at Jericho costing him another shot at the World Title. At No Way Out, the two face off with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Jericho retains the title with intereference from Christian. Jericho gloats that he beat Shawn and wanted one more chance to beat him again to end his career at WrestleMania 19 with stipulations stating that if Michaels lost, his career would be over for good this time. Michaels accepts the match and the two put on a solid encounter similar to their WrestleMania 19 encounter with Michaels winning and keeping his career intact to become a five-time WWE Intercontinental Champion. Michaels would go on to have the belt for a long period of time, even his best friend Kevin Nash returns from injury to manage him similar to 10 years ago, but Nash turns on Michaels after Michaels successfully retains the Intercontinental Title at Bad Blood against the rookie Randy Orton. Nash says that he's sick of Shawn running around with the Intercontinental Title. A Title that he once had, Michaels and Nash fight at Summerslam for the Intercontinental Title with Michaels retaining the title and sending Nash out of the WWE for a while. Michaels would finally drop the Intercontinental Title on RAW against Christian on September 1, 2003. Michaels gets a rematch for the title against Christian at Unforgiven, but just as he's set on winning the Intercontinental Title for the sixth straight time. Randy Orton intereferes and hits the RKO on Michaels allowing Christian to retain the title. Michaels then feuds with Orton with Orton defeating him at No Mercy, I decided to keep the PPV interpromotional brands in the diary as well. Michaels still continues to feud with Orton even through Survivor Series with Orton last eliminating Michaels and ending the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin. After, Michaels wins a Battle Royal the night after Armageddon facing Triple H for the World Title on December 29, 2003. Michaels would end 2003 on a happy ending by capturing his second World Heavyweight Title and thus becoming a 6-time World Champion.
2004:
Michaels would successfully remain the World Champion by defeating Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match, The Rock returns to win the 2004 Royal Rumble and people assume that he will face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship because he was on SMACKDOWN. But instead jumps to RAW to challenge HBK for the World Title. At No Way Out, The Rock and Shawn do join forces and get along to defeat Evolution, but after the match. The Rock poses with the World Title and Michaels snatches the belt away from The Rock and raises it up only for The Rock to hit Michaels with the Rock Bottom. Michaels and Rock's personal feud goes way back to 2000 with Michaels returning and costing The Rock the Royal Rumble Match and also The Rock beat him twice, but now it's 2004 and The Rock is not the same kid anymore he was in 2000, Michaels and Rock have a go-home show contract signing with neither man laying a hand on each other nor flipping the table over. It's the Main Event at WrestleMania 20. Both Rock and Michaels tell McMahon that they need to main event the match, and it's a positive reaction to the fans as the two go 30-35 minutes with both men kicking out of their finishers. But in the end it's Michaels that hits The Rock with Sweet Chin Music and thus retains the World Title on the biggest stage of them all. After the Match, Michaels and Rock shake hands. Michaels's next challenger for the World Title at Backlash is against Randy Orton who defeated Michaels in a Handicap Match the night after WrestleMania. The legend killer had had Shawn's number before twice by defeating him, but at Backlash. Orton fails to take the World Title away from Shawn Michaels. Michaels is then challenged by the Unmasked Kane who has still gone crazy after losing his mask. Kane goes as far as attacking Shawn and thus questioning his religion, he also threatens to kidnap his wife, but Shawn saves his wife by hitting Kane with a led pipe and Sweet Chin Music. Kane and Shawn is booked for Bad Blood with the World Heavyweight Title on the line. Michaels does his best against the beast and is able to bring him down but Kane shockingly kicks out of the Sweet Chin Music. Kane then surprises Michaels by hitting him with the chokeslam and the Tombstone Piledriver and thus gives Kane his second World Title reign over HBK. After the Match, Kane is not satisfied that he grabs a steel chair and places it on the neck of the Heartbreak Kid and stomps on it leaving HBK to have permanent damage. Kane gloats on how he attacked Shawn Michaels and that now he is the real Heartbreak Kid that the ladies can love and appreciate. In October at Taboo Tuesday, Kane drops the title to a recently face turned Randy Orton after Michaels's music plays and then after. Michaels returns to hit Kane with Sweet Chin Music. Michaels demands a match at Survivor Series against Kane. Kane agrees, But it will be an Elimination Match. Michaels picks his teammates in Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy, The Big Show and Shelton Benjamin against the team of Kane's team consisting of Chavo Guerrero, Luther Reigns, Christian and Tyson Tomko. Michaels's team survives with Michaels, Show and Mysterio surviving. Michaels gets his redemption on Kane by defeating him at Armageddon in a Hell in A Cell Match.
2005:
Just as Michaels is contemplating on heading to the Royal Rumble Match, he receives a letter and it's a letter received from Bret Hart. Michaels of course is angry at this and cuts a shoot promo on the entire Montreal Screwjob and Bret Hart. Michaels says that he's not going to enter the Royal Rumble Match. But he wanted an open invitation from Bret Hart to return at the Royal Rumble to confront him face to face cause of what happened in 1997. Bret returns to the WWE at the Royal Rumble and confronts Shawn and Vince. Bret wants a match with not only Vince, but Shawn. Vince agrees to a match with Bret at WrestleMania 21 if Bret is victorious against Shawn in a match at No Way Out, Bret dressed in the pink and black gear gets in a good match against Shawn and gets his redemption by slapping on the sharpshooter making Shawn submit. After the match, Shawn tries to shake Bret's hand but still Bret does not trust Shawn. Vince drives a wedge between Bret & Shawn by appointing Shawn the guest referee for WrestleMania 21. Vince tries to get in the head of both Bret and Shawn. Shawn then begins to side with Vince but hesitates to hit Bret with a chair and that allows Vince to shove Shawn allowing all Superstars that Vince has paid come out to attack Bret Hart, hiring half of the midcard heel roster like Snitsky, Heidenreich, Luther Reigns, Maven, Simon Dean, Steven Richards, The Bashams and Viscera to all attack Bret and Shawn. But Shawn punches Vince in the face and helps Bret fight off the heels. Shawn hits Vince with Sweet Chin Music and that allows Bret to slap the sharpshooter on Vince to get his 8-yearly long redemption. Bret and Shawn hug and shake hands after the match. Vince is upset and suspends Shawn but in reality Shawn took another time off to heal. Shawn returns on May 16, 2005 and wants to find a tag team partner to win the World Tag Team Championship. Shawn wants Hulk Hogan to be his partner. Hogan accepts and both men are immediately jumped to a tag team right away, on May 30, 2005 on Memorial Day. Hogan and HBK defeat Regal and Tajiri to capture the World Tag Team Titles in the main event, the next week though they are attacked by Muhammad Hassan and Daivari who challenge them to a Tag Title Match at Vengeance with HBK accepting for the team. A Miscommunication between HBK and Hogan allow Daivari and Hassan to regain the Tag Team Belts with Hassan making HBK Submit to the Camel Clutch. After the Match, Shawn superkicks Hogan turning Shawn heel for the first time since 2001. Shawn goads Hogan into a match with him at Summerslam. Hogan refuses, Shawn then pushes the envelope further by trashing Hogan's locker room and harassing his then-wife Linda with Hogan finally having enough and accepting the match. Hogan and Shawn have the same encounter with Hogan winning turning Shawn back into a face in the process. In the fall, Team SMACKDOWN begin to invade Team RAW. And suddenly a feud begins to brew between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels with the two having backstage encounters with each other. It comes to a head at Survivor Series with Michaels eliminating Guerrero in the RAW vs SMACKDOWN Match leading to a future feud between them in 2006.
2006:
It is now 2006 and Michaels's goals are getting another championship run and another Royal Rumble win. Michaels is the odds on favorite to win it, but then Eddie Guerrero is entered in the match after he loses the World Title to Rey Mysterio. Michaels eliminates Eddie, but Eddie returns the favor by eliminating him. Eddie beats on Shawn and demands that Shawn face him at WrestleMania 22. Shawn repays the favor by costing Eddie the World Heavyweight Title at No Way Out and the match is set for WrestleMania 22 with Michaels and Eddie fighting one hell of a battle but in the end it's Michaels that gets the win by hitting Sweet Chin Music. Eddie demands a rematch, so he requests that he and Shawn face off again at Backlash, they fight again with Eddie winning thanks to intereference from The McMahons, but Eddie isn't satisfied with the win and wants one more match at Judgment Day, a Hell in A Cell Match. Michaels and Eddie fight in one of the best matches of the night 40-45 minutes with Eddie kicking out of the Sweet Chin Music twice and Shawn kicking out of the Frog Splash twice. But Eddie wins cleanly by hitting one final frog splash ending the rivalry once and for all. The McMahons continue to belittle and bully Shawn which leads to a DX Reunion tease. On June 12, 2006. Triple H and Shawn reunite again as D-Generation X. In their first official act back together, they win the Tag Team Titles as a team defeating The Spirit Squad at Vengeance. The old sophmore pranks continue with DX continuing to humilate and embarass The McMahons even further, at Summerslam. DX retain their titles against The McMahons and also at Unforgiven in a Hell in A Cell Match. But they drop the titles to Rated RKO at Cyber Sunday. At the end of 2006, Michaels wins a #1 Contender's Tournament to face John Cena for the WWE Championship at the 2007 Royal Rumble.
2007:
Michaels with a wave of momentum by his side challenges John Cena for the WWE Championship in his hometown at the Royal Rumble. The fans are of course anti-pro-Cena in Shawn's hometown. Shawn fights hard and even kicks out of 2 FU's and makes it to the ropes after an STFU. And many think that Michaels's dream of coming back on top is done but it's not as Michaels hits the superkick on Cena and thus captures the WWE Championship for the first time since 2001. Michaels is now a 5-time WWE Champion and also a 7-time World Champion. Michaels's friend Triple H wins the Royal Rumble meaning that DX would main event WrestleMania 23 with each other. Michaels is excited that he gets to face his friend Triple H and Triple H is too, there is clearly no tension between them although there is a little bit but both say they will not betray the other and promise to put on a good match for the title. Triple H and Michaels rock the show and tear it down with Michaels kicking out of the pedigree twice and The Game kicking out of Sweet Chin Music, but The Game returns to his throne and captures the WWE Championship once more defeating Shawn on the grandest stage of them all. After the match, Michaels thinks about hitting Triple H with the title but thinks better of it and hands the belt to Triple H. Although Michaels wants another shot at the title, he defeats Edge at Backlash proving that he wants another shot at the title. Triple H loses the title against Cena at Backlash and ends up injuring his quad leaving him out of action for four months at Summerslam. Michaels then tries to gain the WWE Title again against John Cena at Judgment Day and the two put on a good one-hour match with Cena retaining the WWE Title once more. The next night, Michaels is put out of action by Randy Orton. But he returns in the fall with Randy Orton now as Champion. Michaels begins to target Orton every which way he can, and at the 2007 Survivor Series, Michaels captures the WWE Title once again by defeating Orton making him the 6-time WWE Champion. And he successfully defends it in a rematch against Orton at Armageddon.
2008:
Now with Shawn as WWE Champion again, he faces off against John Morrison at the Royal Rumble, Morrison earned the right to win a Battle Royal and challenge Shawn for the WWE Championship. Morrison and Shawn are mirror images of the other, on the go-home show before The Rumble after Michaels beats Morrison's partner The Miz. Morrison surprises Michaels by hitting him with Sweet Chin Music, at the Royal Rumble. Morrison gives his all but it is not enough as Michaels retains against Morrison despite intereference from The Miz, at the Royal Rumble Match. Ric Flair enters the Rumble at #1 and wins it all by last eliminating John Cena after Cena had eliminated Triple H. So it's Flair and Shawn for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 24 with Flair's career on the line. Michaels does not have to defend the title as he teams with Flair to take on SMACKDOWN'S World Champion Edge and La Familia at No Way Out, Shawn and Flair win the match. The two have the same promos with Shawn threatening to put Flair out of the pasture. It's the same match at WrestleMania 24 and Michaels successfully retains the WWE Title against Flair, in Flair's retirement ceremony. Flair and Shawn shake hands and hug, meanwhile people like Chris Jericho and Batista both question the way Michaels retired Flair. At Backlash, Michaels successfully retains the WWE Title against The Big Show who won a #1 Contenders Match. But it's Jericho that wants to target the WWE Championship against Shawn. Jericho turns heel by attacking Michaels and challenging him to a match at Judgment Day with Michaels retaining the WWE Title over Jericho and also at Extreme Rules this time with Jericho capturing the title in a Steel Cage Match. At Night of Champions. Jericho and Michaels have their rematch for the title when CM Punk's music hits as he cashes in his Money in The Bank Briefcase making it a Triple Threat Match. Punk wins the title by pinning Shawn after hitting a GTS. Punk then shows some signs of a heel turn as well. At The Bash, he narrowly escapes a title defense defeating Jeff Hardy, Michaels wins a #1 Contenders Match over Jericho on the show and Michaels and Punk will face off for the WWE Title at Summerslam. Punk blasts Shawn for his religious beliefs and also his drinking and drug problems back in 1999 as Michaels wins a match against Mark Henry. Punk begins to attack Shawn and smothers him unconcsious. Punk then begins to grab a Jack Daniels and teases to drink it but instead forces Shawn to drink it. Shawn tries to fight him off but Punk ties him up in the ropes and instead of Punk forcing it in his mouth. Punk throws it in his face and that leads to Michaels sitting down with Jim Ross for Punk blatanly interefering with his addiction, Michaels says that he does not want to win the WWE Championship but instead he wants to hurt Punk. And of course Michaels's emotions gets the best of him at Summerslam after he kicks out of 2 GTS's. Shawn goes angry and beats up a referee. Michaels gets disqualified and attempts an elbow drop on the Spanish Announce Table, but then some men in masked come out to attack Shawn. Shawn desperately tries fighting them off but Punk hits him with a led pipe and then Punk instructs the guys to beat on Shawn some more. Punk takes off both their masks as they are revealed to be Festus who is bald and bearded and is out of his comatose state. Jesse who is now bald, Colt Cabana, Shad and JTG, Caylen Croft and Brian Kendrick. It is a 7 on 1 against Shawn, they then lock Shawn in the ropes. Shawn's wife Rebecca tries to save him, but Punk grabs Rebecca by the hair and tells Shawn to watch. Shawn desperately tries to break free, but can't. Punk hits the GTS on Rebecca, then suddenly Triple H comes out to make the save for his best friend but the damage is done. The night after Summerslam, Shawn goes on a rampage and attacks anyone in sight including the General Manager who is Shane McMahon. Shane has no choice but to suspend Shawn indefinitely. Shawn doesn't care and hits Shane with Sweet Chin Music. After this, Shawn files a lawsuit against Shane and the Straight Edge Society. Meanwhile, at Unforgiven. Triple H wants redemption for his best friend, The Game wants to kick Punk's ass and take his title. Punk and his goons take it far also to threaten Triple H's wife Stephanie McMahon if she even gets in their way. The Game is close to winning the title but due to the masked goons. Punk is able to retain the title, after. They begin to attack Triple H, but then Shawn's music plays as he comes out to attack Punk and the Straight Edge Society. The next night after Unforgiven. Shane is about to fire Shawn but then changes his mind with Shawn threatening Shane demanding his job back and to drop the lawsuit so he can face CM Punk for the title at No Mercy. Shane accepts and Shawn is reinstated. Shawn and Punk wrestle in two separate Beat The Clock Challenges. Punk defeats Rey Mysterio, and Shawn in a close one defeats The Samoan Bulldozer Umaga. Shawn then suggests a ladder match for the WWE Championship at No Mercy with Punk accepting. Shane's sister Stephanie bans the rest of the Straight Edge Society in the match leaving Punk and Shawn to wrestle to find out who the better man is. Punk is able to retain the WWE Championship in a 20-25 minute match by knocking Shawn off the ladder. Shawn is also a part of the RAW and SMACKDOWN Survivor Series Match with Shawn captaining Team RAW to victory and even getting into a confrontation with The Undertaker who was on Team SMACKDOWN.
2009:
with a new set of confidence and kicking off 2008 as the WWE Champion. Michaels enters the Royal Rumble Match hoping to win it for the third time, Michaels enters as the #17 entrant and cleans house on everyone and makes it to the elite eight with him, The Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Triple H, Kane and Legacy. Michaels shocks the world by eliminating The Undertaker, but The Undertaker's brother Kane sneaks up from behind Shawn and eliminates him. The Undertaker stares down Shawn with a disgusted look on his face. But Kane wants to get retribution for his brother so Kane challenges The Heartbreak Kid to a match at No Way Out to see who will face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25. Michaels wins against The Demon Kane and we get the match between Michaels & Undertaker, there is no changing this match at all nor the buildup leading to this match. The match remains as it is and just like in real life. Shawn takes time off but comes back in the fall of 2009 reformed with DX as they defeat Jerishow to regain the WWE Tag Team Titles at Survivor Series. Shawn still wants to prove that he wants one final match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26.
2010:
Shawn's obsession with The Undertaker leads to Triple H trying to talk Shawn out of it but Shawn refuses to listen and demands to challenge The Undertaker again. The Undertaker refuses, Shawn then declares that he was going to win the Royal Rumble Match and face The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title. Taker makes it by his brother Kane at the Royal Rumble. Shawn does eventually win the Royal Rumble for the third time as he entered as the #1 entrant similar to 1995 and then decides to head to SMACKDOWN to challenge Undertaker for the title at WrestleMania 26. DX eventually drop the belts to CM Punk and Luke Gallows. At Elimination Chamber, Undertaker still walks out the World Champion in the Chamber. Michaels is confident about breaking the streak, the career vs streak match does not happen. Just Shawn wants to prove that he wants to beat The Undertaker again. Just like Last Year, the two put on a tremendous match and just when Undertaker is set to tombstone Michaels. Michaels sneaks up from behind The Deadman and hits the Sweet Chin Music and hits it again and hits it one more time and pins Taker to finally end the undefeated streak and finally walks out of WrestleMania as the man not only to win the World Heavyweight Title but end The Undertaker's streak. Undertaker goes on a heel run and just attacks Shawn on the SMACKDOWN after WrestleMania as he is set to congratulate him, he strips off his Darkside Attire and returns to the Big Evil Attire claiming that Shawn made him this way and now Shawn has to pay, we do not see Undertaker return, just vignettes of his return as Big Evil. Undertaker finally returns at Money in The Bank attacking Shawn Michaels and choking him out with his biker chain allowing Undertaker's brother Kane to capture the World Heavyweight Title over Shawn. Taker is in a mad streak explaining that the fans always chose Shawn over him and that Shawn was no saint, he had to cheat to get the upper hand at WrestleMania 26. He exposes Shawn Michaels for being a cheater that he challenges him to a match at Summerslam. Michaels accepts and the two brawl with one another on the go-home show of Summerslam. Michaels and Taker's encounters are the same again, but the match ends at 15 minutes with Taker hitting Shawn with his signature biker chain and busting him up. Undertaker follows the attack up by tombstoning Shawn on the steel steps. Shawn is taken off TV but returns at Survivor Series to challenge The Undertaker one more time to a Hell in A Cell Match with The Deadman accepting. The two then agree to this being the end of an era. Undertaker eventually gets the win by hitting Michaels with the Last Ride, and after both men shake hands leaving Shawn's question in peril. Shawn walks out of the cell questioning himself if he was ready for the end?. Michaels takes time off in December.
2011:
After The Royal Rumble, Michaels returns and announces that after WrestleMania 27, he was going to retire and that he wanted to go out with one final match. Michaels's opponent turns out to be none other than his best buddy Triple H. The Game decides that he wants to wrestle Michaels for the final time. At Elimination Chamber, Triple H gets redemption on Sheamus for putting him out of action. After the Match, Michaels appears and hits Sheamus with Sweet Chin Music while teasing hitting Sweet Chin Music on the Game. Michaels goes on a "retirement tour match" wrestling others like Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and Cody Rhodes the matches happen on House Shows, RAW and SMACKDOWN until the final match between him and Triple H. The match is the main event. They fight for 40-45 minutes with both men hitting each other with their signature moves but both of them refuse to give up. Michaels finally hits Triple H with Sweet Chin Music and wins in his "retirement match". After the match, both men shake hands and hug in a WrestleMania moment with both men crying and then we see the rest of the Kliq like Kevin Nash, X-Pac, and Scott Hall all come out together as they reenact the 1996 moment from Madison Square Garden. As the commentators agree that it is the "Curtain Call" for Shawn Michaels. The Kliq all leave with Michaels waving his goodbyes to the fans in the ring. The next night on RAW. A Retirement Show is dedicated to Shawn Michaels, the storylines are put on hold giving superstars a chance to reflect their memories on Shawn Michaels. Michaels comes to the ring in his final segment and thanks the fans for his 12-year comeback and that he could not have done it without beating addiction and without having a child and without having his wife and even the lord by his side. Michaels thanks The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, CM Punk and others for wrestling him on his comeback. Michaels says that he enjoyed it all and he would love to do it again, but finally, he's at peace now and he's the happiest he has ever been and then finishes with "The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels has left the building"
Post-WWE:
After, Michaels makes post-WWE Appearances and is inducted into the 2012 Hall of Fame. He referees the end of an era match between The Undertaker and Triple H for Hell in A Cell at WrestleMania 28 with The Undertaker winning And other rare appearances including a DX Reunion in 2012 on RAW 1000 and also joining The Authority in 2013 leading to a feud with him and Daniel Bryan at Survivor Series with Shawn coming out of retirement one more time to teach Daniel a lesson. Daniel wins against Shawn cutting Shawn ties off with The Authority even though he and Triple H still remain buddies as he helps Triple H defeat Sting at WrestleMania 31. After, Michaels turns face and becomes the NXT trainer in 2017 and also the NXT General Manager in 2018 as well.
