Looks like he's permanent on the announce team. Very anti-climatic for his wrestling career. Well, at least he'll have longevity at this point if he sticks with it.

It's not permanent. Its until his thumb injury heals. Just read that WWE like him in the role but feel he's too valuable as an in ring talent to be staying behind the desk

So bizarre how much their careers align. A much-hyped in-ring technician outside the "Universe", finally appears but achieves very little on the main shows. Hindered by injuries and unsupportive booking. Finds themselves behind the announce desk and thrives. And must I say, suited announcer Joe: get on it MattelDesignTeam!

It's just till he's cleared to return to the ring. But he is a natural on commentary, and probably has a spot waiting for when he does stop wrestling.

It's just him showing how awesome he is at this whole professional wrestling thing. It's probably gonna come out in a few months that he books NXT too.

Sure he will be back in the ring soon but he has became very injury prone, retirement might be sooner than we think, hope not but at least he has this to fall back on.

I want nothing more than Joe back in the ring, but considering how good he's been commentating I would love it to be a future role for him when he finally does retire.

Tazz was useless, and WWE realised that about a month in, at which point he became a comedy hardcore wrestler. Joe has been around the top of the card for most of his run. He’s main evented PPVs, he’s feuded with Brock Lesnar, he’s beaten every member of the Shield, he destroyed Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania.

i mean, the reality is that i don't think a single joe outing outside his nxt run has even glimpsed his tna bouts in his prime, but yeah. he is 40 now and not 20.

Well TNA literally try to turn him into tazz when he joined the main event Mafia...
(Seriously. Watch his first match after he joined the mafia. He's literally doing Taz signature stance while waiting for his opponent.)

Who said it was permanent?
It's just until his hand heals, then he's back in the ring.

I don't know why people were thinking he was done in the ring. This is basically like when Punk was injured, and so they had him on commentary, prior to him getting involved with Nexus. It's a way to keep their presence on TV, so they're not forgotten.

He needs to stay on commentary where he's badly need and could be a lot bigger of a help then as and in ring talent.Just in terms of pecking order on RAW & Smackdown Joe is clearly behind Brock,Reigns,Rollins,Wyatt,Bryan,Styles,Strowman,Owens...ect so his shot at being a world champion and main eventer are pretty slim plus has a history of injuries in recent years that are mounting up.

He’s a much better commentator than Tazz was his first few weeks. I’m sure he’ll wrestle again soon, but even if he never does, he’s already got another career

There are some similarities, but joe has recieved 10x the amount of opportunity that Tazz had. Hes been booked infinitely better than Tazz. Main evented Summer Slam for the WWE belt, main evented a PPV with Brock, NXT Champ, US Champ. Tazz had what, a tag title reign and a few hardcore titles and was consistently in the mid card for most of his run. Their WWE stints are uncomparable in terms of booking.

Wasn't Tazz getting such good reactions that Triple H decided to give him a rub but much like everyone else that faced Tri they didn't do anything with that rub? Y'know because they lost.
