No idea if this was ToyBiz or Jakks (or both), but

I agree with AJ; the 6-sided ring is what made TNA stand out. It went downhill when TNA switched to the squared circle...

To be fair, TNA started out with a 4-sided, then switched a couple years later.
I'll agree though, the "6-sided ring" years are the most memorable for me. I was lucky enough to go to a few live shows, and the 6-sided ring looked awesome live.
From what I remember, whenever Hogan came in, he wanted to go to the more "traditional" 4-sides. It definitely took away something that was unique to TNA(and,well, AAA in Mexico). Big mistake IMO

I always assumed the point was to draw those mma comparisons which were pretty undeniable and could only be a good thing.

I too loved the 6 sided TNA ring. I've been watching a lot of old TNA on Pluto TV (it's free and there's no log in) and I've been reminded that they were a solid organization for a while.

If you’ve ever bumped in a 6 sided ring, then you’d know why most of the talent wanted to switch to the standard style.
I agree that in doing that, it totally took away their uniqueness as far as presentation wise.... however, that’s absolutely NOT what killed TNA ratings wise.

Yea not many wrestlers train a a 6 sided ring. It’s a different animal. It made them stand out but for the wrestlers it was definitely a learning curve

6 sided ring required more steel and wood, causing less give and a more painful bump.
Looked awesome, but horrible in the long run for workers

Some of these Marvel TNA figures are more advanced than anything from Mattel WWE, even more than 12 years later.

Some of these Marvel TNA figures are more advanced than anything from Mattel WWE, even more than 12 years later. Yeah, it's kind of amazing to see how far behind the WWE stuff still lags behind wrestling figures from a decade plus ago. Was kind of hoping people would be more receptive of the Ultimate Edition figures and use them as the basis to argue for even more articulation from Mattel but given the reception on this board, it seems people don't like the added articulation which is really weird to me. |

I HATED that 6 sided ring. Only time I dug it was ultimate x or lethal lockdown.

The 6 sided ring was the TNA I grew up with, once they changed back to 4 it just lost a bit of its originality. I felt it went downhill after it, but maybe I just didn’t like the change. It didn’t feel right, if you get me.
But I do agree with what Jeff said about retailers stocking the TNA line, there’s no way it would have ever competed with WWE & Jakks at the point they were released as Jakks was pumping out RA sets, AD two packs, the Classic line was in its prime. It to me was doomed from the start. Not saying it didn’t do well but if you take the Jakks TNA line trying to compete with Mattel, it stood no chance.

Out of modern day things, I mostly collect Retros. However, a big part of that is that I HATE the look of the chest articulation piece. It ruins almost every figure for me (especially bigger guys). That is my only articulation issue. |
