because they don't have a budget like the brands you mentioned. that's the logic, and no people don't hate change. people hate paying for something that isn't useful to most people who buy the premium figures. I take it your playing and posing your figures all day long? why would you wanna pay more when something wasn't even needed in terms of the jump from an elite to a "ultimate"? The NECA Ultimate Nightmare 1 Freddy is ostensibly the same as the regular NECA Nightmare 1 Freddy outside of the added accessories. The Mattel WWE Ultimates add accessories on top of more articulation and if you're someone who puts figures on the shelf, you probably pose most of them differently (like I do) so added articulation is not only needed, but appreciated. The double elbow joint and toe joints were both on the Toybiz TNA figures...a decade and a half ago. WWE's figures shouldn't lag THAT FAR BEHIND every other figure on the market and I don't get why people want them to. I'm willing to pay more for them because of the articulation and added accessories, Like, this isn't really even hard to figure out. If you'd rather the Defining Moments and Entrance Greats figures return, you're basically telling Mattel you'll pay $30 for figures that mostly could have been slotted into the regular Elite series instead of something that's actually more than a regular Elite and frankly, that's on you. Personally I love the DM line. I collect MOC and have no use for extra heads/hands/arms, so for me I’d rather have DM than UE. Maybe that doesn’t make sense, but just my preference.

No I'd argue that's perfectly reasonable. My issue is someone saying extra articulated "isn't needed" when most if not all of that same articulation is found on most (if not all) of the other major toy lines you see in stores and was seen on wrestling figures a decade and a half ago is ridiculous. More articulation is a good thing, but some people on here act like things need to stay the same they've always been and that's part of the reason why wrestling figures lag so far behind everything else. It's ridiculous.

If someone doesn’t want to pay extra for that stuff cause they don’t think it benefits them enough, then that’s 100% their prerogative. But that doesn’t mean ultimates aren’t needed or worth it in general. For loose collectors I think it’s great. Even as an MOC guy I originally contemplated opening whatever UE figs I wanted to get. Thus far I only have Finn and have not opened it, but never say never I guess.

Are the ultimate editon figures body part able to be put on mattel elite figures? Like UE triple H hands on an elite figure?

If the ultimate line dies it will be because if the upcoming brock lesnar that is going to rot any and everywhere it's stocked.

Speaking of ultimate edition, why haven’t we seen finished products of HBK and Brock? Ain’t they set to be shipped in about a month?

Unless they change to the normal elite torso I don’t plan to purchase one. The torsos look awful in my opinion.

The only one I bought was Warrior. They need to get that Flair out before this line dies.

Not sure how mattel messed that one up. Storm collectibles and some other lines have executed it. I hope mattel retools it at some point. They need to give us a ‘98 Sting with different styles of his face paint, retooled tall boots and trench coat.

Honestly we need a good Surfer Sting (the GAB 91 Sting is an okay figure but the attire sucks and I hate that jacket, a UE figure could have the swappable arms so you could pose him in the jacket) before we get another long haired Crow Sting.

First let me say the attire Sting wore at GAB ‘90 is hands down by far his greatest attire ever. Followed by BeachBlast ‘92 and Starrcade ‘90 round out the “Top 3” Sting attires.
They are $23 at Target right now. I thought about buying another Bret, but ultimately decided 3 was enough and to save the money for something else.

I hope it continues - my fav part of the Mattel line currently (have all 6 thus far). Only way I would support its end is if it was to be replaced by returning Defining Moments or Legends (at least 4 per wave).

I believe there is a huge market for Ultimates. People who like highly-articulated figures and loads of accessories for what can be considered an iconic if not definitive look for a character. I only own three but they're some of the best figures I own and stand out on a shelf as sort of an exclamation point. They're not perfect, there's minor issues for every figure, but as a whole I'm enjoying the line.
I had my doubts like everyone else, particularly about the torso joint, but they don't bother me and if they did, there's ways to hide them on almost every figure (Warrior's coat, Bret's jacket, Triple H's chainmail, soon HBK's vest), but I'm impressed. My biggest problem is price point as many of the added articulation are standard for most $20 lines and more premium lines like NECA's Ultimates have added detail on top of articulation and accessories making it worth the cost. Availability is also a factor as Walmart refuses to carry the line but Target welcomes it with open arms. Ringside and Amazon are viable options and where I've gotten mine but I digress.
I love the Ultimate Edition line and I look forward to what else is in store, just some decisions baffle me like adding Lesnar to the line when he wouldn't necessarily benefit from the added joints and he has such a basic attire with little in the way of accessories AFAIK

As noted I preordered two and I think the figure looks fantastic but his inclusion absolutely screams "he's a top talent we can do three different expressions for" which is basically the criteria for the line as described by Bill and AFA.

I havent picked up a single one, and dont really plan on it so far. I dislike the character selection, I wish we could have gotten at least ONE new name for this line. Such as?

@kyoken Actually, I’ll take that back as far as wanting the ‘98 Sting as a ultimate edition. I just want it as an elite. As we as the surfer Sting goes, the attires so far have been good in my opinion. It’s the bad selection of parts and ridiculous head sizes that make them look bad. Mattel needs to start using the Austin torso, Dolph Ziggler legs and give him a soft goods jacket even if it looks bad. I’d rather have something that looks similar to macho’s jacket than the weird looking rubber jacket. I really wish they could redo the bash at the beach attire or another one from that era. The head on that figure is way out of scale.
