The Hickenbottom Report
Mike Hickenbottom here with the latest breaking news from the WFWF.
Anybody who saw the last WFWF show knows there was major trouble stirring in the title pictures as International Champion Frank Lynn did not get what he wanted in the form of a title match with Drakz, who successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against #1 contender Tugarin Zmey later in the night. Frank was not happy resulting in Lila Sleater and Kris Kash ending up out cold as Frank Lynn and his manager Daphne Velasquez apparently walked out on the WFWF.
Despite successfully retaining his title, Drakz has apparently not changed his own ultimatum that he will retire if and when he loses a match.
To say the sh*t hit the fan is putting it lightly. With the future of both the World and International titles in doubt, tempers flared at WFWF headquarters. Insider sources have told me that Lila Sleater and Kris Kash met several times over the next few days in closed door meetings that had a lot of shouting and quite possibly some furniture breaking. The end result of these "heated discussions" came to light when the WFWF issued a rather lengthy press release. The TL;DR version can be summed up as follows:
My interpretation of all this is best said in three simple words: "We f***ed up."
What this means for you and me, the wrestling fans, is that at Survival of the Fittest we get to see a highly anticipated match up featuring the undeniably best wrestler of the last generation against arguably the best wrestler of the current generation. Frank Lynn has come a long way from his tag match against Drakz and Joshua Dean that saw him dropped through electrical equipment, handcuffed to the ring post, and beaten into unconsciousness with a steel chair by Drakz. He was in way over his head three years ago. It's a different story now as he is riding an almost two year run as International Champion, has beaten his demons in the ring and is ready to take take the next step; to become as he puts it the new constant of the WFWF. Only problem is that the old constant of the WFWF stands in his way and no matter how little interest Drakz seems to show in continuing his wrestling career, once he gets in the ring his instincts kick in and he wins.
Will Frank Lynn fall like Brennan, Shannon, Kyzer, and Zmey OR will he be the one to finally bring to an end to the greatest career in the history of this business? Only time will tell but I for one wouldn't bet against the Lethal Weapon. I wouldn't bet against Drakz either though. Flip a coin.
That's all for now but stay tuned for more updates as the WFWF builds up to their next big PPV, Survival of the Fittest!

"Our current World Heavyweight Champion can't wait to retire and our current International Champion just gave us the proverbial middle finger. Appearances aside, Frank Lynn never actually said 'I quit' so technically he is still under contract with the WFWF - a contract that has a clause protecting him from any punitive action in response to how Lila Sleater and Kris Kash were treated at the last show.
The WFWF has come to the decision that it is best for business to give Frank what he wants. We are asking both Frank Lynn and Drakz to come to the next show to sign a contract for a match at Survival of the Fittest for the World Heavyweight Championship. Should Frank not show up, we will take that as his official resignation but we sincerely hope he will show up to sign the contract and we will have our main event for Survival of the Fittest."
My interpretation of all this is best said in three simple words: "We f***ed up."
