Report came out noting how target and walmart are disappointed that toy sales around Christmas were down this past year. Not sure but I'd think if they were both a little more capable of actually putting product on the shelves rather than letting them sit empty for weeks to months they may see a turnaround in those numbers.

If they were better at stocking and I’m not just talking wwe figures maybe they would get more sales.

Oh, good. Another thread where we can collectively overestimate just how integral WWE figures are to these retailers' departmental bottom lines.
This was an industry wide outcome.

I mean literally walked into stores multiple times and their shelves were bare! Hard to sell toys that you don’t have!

Well how can they go up when they don't even have anything?

Except people here are talking about Mattel WWE figures not being stocked and saying thats the reason for why Walmart and Target's toy sales are down.

Yeah, having just done a birthday and Christmas back to back for a five year old, I'm gonna go ahead and say that that's definitely not the case. I'll even double back to this board and say that for months, people have been claiming that "it's so easy to go into these stores and find full sets of x or y non-WWE figures" in their ongoing rail, so there's definitely some narrative shaping going on here.

Its all just a big conspiracy theory...
According to some people on this site, every store has been stocked year round and people who say they aren't are just complainers.

Ok well to clarify this post meant ALL TOYS not just WWE. I can think of many things I've searched for never to be found or only found once across 8 different stores

Are you telling me NO ONE wanted any of those millions of discounted BTS dolls? What a world.

It's not isolated to WWE. The issue isn't just a lack of stock, but failure to clear dead stock. Marvel Legends pegs are still clogged up with Ant Man and Wasp figures that came out in early 2018, while only a couple stores in my area received any of the recent Avengers waves. Star Wars Black pegs are overstuffed with minor characters from Solo and Rogue One, which released in 2016. Meanwhile a brand new film was releasing, and once the special release day shippers sold through there counts were too high to trigger a re-stock.
The big box stores have over-automated everything. Figures that nobody is going to buy at their price point sit and sit for years, filling pegs that could have new, in-demand product. We saw the same thing with E36 in the WWE line, which created a massive backup that lasted almost a full year.
Just because there are toys on the shelf does not mean that there is product that the consumer wants to buy. And in a pretty strong economy, the stores have nobody to blame but themselves.

My Walmart has many ML Grey Gargoyle and Tombstone figures on the shelves. Even the DCMV BVS Jesse Eisenberg figure is still there, only marked down once to $20. The Marvel Legends section in Atlantic Canada has probably 3 pegs devoted to new ones. The rest are clogged with the Spdr, Kingpin and Hydroman series leftovers that are never going to move.

Yeah....idk maybe stock your shelves and people will buy your stuff. I remember Toys R us having 3-5 sets of elites on the shelf at a time. All this one 1-2 sets at a time nonsense is what is KILLING their toy sales. If there is stuff to buy, people will buy it.

If every company in the world just built their entire business model around catering to what I want, they would all be experiencing record-breaking profits.

I spent stupid money throughout November and December at Target...almost all of it in the toy section, and none of it on WWE branded product, or even the action figure category, for that matter.
