They are dropping the "Womans" and now will just be call champions. Yay snowflakes!
There has been a push from some in WWE to make changes to the women’s titles.
On Tuesday’s episode of WWE Backstage, Becky Lynch spoke about her wish to have the women’s titles not have the “Women’s” distinction dropped from the name of the belt because she believes that history has already been made and it’s time to present everything as being equal.
Lynch said, “I think it’s now starting to hold us back where we are then going ‘oh, this is the women’s segment, this is the women’s thing.’ Why do we need that division? We need people, we need characters, we need people looking for the main event spot, not the top women’s spot, the top spot.”
PWInsider is reporting that WWE has made the decision to refer to the NXT Women’s Championship as simply the NXT Championship so the gender-specific designation has been removed for that title. Rhea Ripley is the current NXT Champion for the female roster.
I have heard that this is not the only change coming for the women’s titles. Prior to Lynch’s comments on WWE Backstage, there was already talk of renaming the women’s titles on Raw and SmackDown.
One idea that was pitched was to simply mirror the names of the men’s titles to have the Raw Women’s Championship renamed to the WWE Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship renamed to the WWE Universal Championship. Another idea that was pitched was to simply make the distinction between Men’s and Women’s titles, unlike now where the distinction is only made for the Women’s titles. So, for example, Brock Lesnar would be referred to as the Men’s WWE Champion and Lynch would be referred to as the Women’s WWE Champion.

This doesn't affect me in the slightest. But I'm sure some will make it out to be life or death.

This should be celebrated. Now all the lillyliver, ignorant jack*sses who claim women's empowerment is gender discrimination and men are being slighted for not being allowed in Women's divisions are that much closer to fulfillment.

For F**ks Sake.
If we're dropping these terms from the Titles and treating them all equal, then by all means Roman Reigns should be allowed to spear Bayley in half and take "The Championship". Just like Aleister Black should be allowed to kick Becky's head off and take "The Championship". Hell, if Becky, Charlotte etc... want "The Championship" then lay the challenge down to Brock Lesnar. Or if Sasha wants to feel relevant again, she can challenge The Fiend and his spooky powers for "The Championship" Can't wait for AOP to win the "Tag Team Championships"

Well then what the hell are they called, the RAW and SD Titles? I guess they could do that because the others are the WWE and Universal Titles.

So what will it be called?
It’s going to have to be able to be differentiated from the men’s championship names and be able to be recognizable for the women’s division.
They can’t have 2 WWE titles because nobody will get it.
My only thought is that they’ll just remove “women’s” from the name of the actual championship, but when talking about the titles, they’ll of course say “the women’s WWE championship”

Becky is also just talking out her ass. She’s making something become a problem that was never a problem to begin with.
They fought so hard to have it be the women’s championship instead of Diva’s but now that’s not good enough I guess.
Typical SJW crap

I think the whole thing is stupid and this type of crap can only happen in a female only promotion not a company that has both men and women.

If it can work in the UFC, it can work in the WWE.

If it can work in the UFC, it can work in the WWE. I would imagine that’s due to the weight classes being different and thus named differently whereas WWE has announced maybe the weights of three women in their 50 year history. Not to bicker, I’m just as confused over the problem as anyone else. Women should be separate, but equal. The issue with that is that this is one of the few instances in life where women literally can’t compete with men because there’s be no physical way they would survive or draw money. Women deserve equality and equity on the basis of being human and deserving just treatment, but this is not how that works.

Am I a fan of the idea? Not necessarily.
Am I going to get my undies in a bunch about it like others? Nah.

So when Johnny Gargano let's say for example, says, "I want to be NXT Champion again!" Does that mean he can face Rhea Ripley and beat her for the NXT Title?? I mean, it is the NXT Championship now. I say that all wrestlers can either gun for Cole or Ripley. All belts are fair game if they are both the NXT Championships now.
