...WWE analyst?
I doubt they'd let him do it since WWE and AEW are rivals, and FOX and TNT probably are too...but imagine. Obviously if he worked for WWE he couldn't show up on AEW television, but just working for FOX MIGHT be something different; what if FOX looked at having an AEW guy as their WWE analyst as something that would bring up ratings? On the other hand, they may ask WWE for permission and certainly in that case they wouldn't get it.
But imagine...what if?...

Lex Luger once showed up on RAW and Nitro on the same night, as did Vince and Shane-O-Mac years later.
I guess anything is possible....

After Luger did it and Rude did it a few years later, WWE started using more guaranteed contracts with non compete clauses specifically to avoid that. When Vince and Shane were both on RAW and Nitro, WWE officially owned WCW by the time the show was on air.

I think Punk is fine where he is. There is no need for him to be in-ring with anyone anymore.

if punk somehow took a contract from aew in his current role, i think wwe would force Fox to relieve him of his duties as there is no way wwe and fox don't have contractual stipulations and that would be a type of obstruction.

What if Stone Cold Steve Austin started his own promotion and all wrestlers were allowed to be in it and it also had all the characters from Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat and everyone watching got a million dollars and free chicken?

What if I was married to Margot Robbie?

I mean, I guess it could happen.
Punk not wanting to wrestle in any capacity might be a bit of a set back though.

Forget being an active wrestler. He can jump right into a WWE management position AND keep his Backstage correspondent gig!

Punk doesn’t want to wrestle. He wants over $15 mil to even consider stepping in the ring again. There’s too much baggage for him to go back to WWE and it seems like a burnt a bridge with AEW.
He wants a big bag to do as little as possible. He doesn’t want to wrestle. Let it go.

Fox is sinking $205m a year into the Smackdown deal. The Backstage show, while a Fox property, is an expansion of that deal geared toward driving interest in their multi-million dollar product. In what fold of reality would it behoove them to send one of their featured analysts - one of the single most talked about talents in the industry - to work for their multi-million dollar partner's competition?

Won't happen.
The show is still under the WWE Banner, they approved him to be on the show in the first place. So if he showed up in the Elite Zone, they'd likely just cut him off. Since he'd still work for FOX, they'd probably just stick him on some MMA talk show.

He appeared on the nitro debut show on the 4th Sept and raw was preempted that night? Rude did but not luger

Well maybe Fox aren’t obsessed with money like Vince. Maybe they understand that the real currency of the wrestling business is Reddit upvotes. Knowing Vince, he’d just block the move anyway because he hates the fans. Good thing AEW has the momentum now.

Punk turned down AEW many times. Even Punk knows he couldn't hang with the little children.

Honestly, I don't think CM Punk is going to wrestle again. If he does though, I'd like to see him bury the hatchet with WWE
