In the rundown industrial area in Nagoya, faint screams can be heard bellowing from an abandoned building. You get gutsy and adventurous and you decide to take a peek as to what is going on in the building. You open the door and are greeted by a dingy hallway with a wooden staircase leading up to a door. Light can be seen through the little glass window on the door. You creep up the stairs and slowly peek into the window.
What you see boggles your mind…
An average size guy in a neon orange mask is doing a neck bridge. But no.. it’s not an ordinary neck bridge, under his back there is a piece of plywood with barbed wire attached to it.
You get spooked and accidently fall into the door and create a loud noise. A very old man runs out of a side room and charges the door yelling in Japanese. He opens the door and pulls you in before you can even react.
“What are you doing here?” He asks in very broken english.
“I ugh.. Uh… Heard screaming.. I came here to check if there was an issue.” you respond.
“You spying on his training!?” The old man asks.
The man in the orange mask, gets up from his neck bridge and walks over to the door, and shoos the old man away.
“What do you want?” The masked man asks.
“I was saying that I was concerned… due to the screaming! But now I’m intrigued at what I seen…. Barbed Wire… really?” You respond.
The masked man laughs and motions for you to sit down on the bench. “You like the way I train? Do you know why I’m training?” he asks.
“I assume you are a wrestler by the mask.” you respond.
The masked man responds with a nod.
A few silent seconds go by and you speak up.
“So what is your wrestling name?” you ask.
The masked man looks at you with what you think is a quizzical look by his eyes.
“My wrestling name? I only have one name…. Mondo… POISON Mondo..” he responds.
“Poison? Why is your name Poison?” You ask.
“When I was brought into this world… I was brought in with a purpose and what purpose? Only I and my mentor knows. Most men or women don’t have a purpose, they live on the premise that they don’t mean anything and whatever happens, happens at random. Do you believe in that?”
He stares at me.
“Well I do think we are just a roll of the dice in this life. Whatever happens is random.” I respond.
He snarls and pushes me to the ground. “Give me twenty pushups.” He demands. I begin doing push ups, and he begins to talk.
“It was not a roll of the dice when I was born with a love of wrestling, and it was something I’ve wanted to do since I was a wee kid. Definitely not a god damn roll of the dice! I was brought in with a purpose… I WAS BROUGHT IN WITH A GODDAMN PURPOSE! I WAS BROUGHT IN TO BE THE NEW PLAGUE OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING. I WAS BROUGHT IN TO BE THE NEW PLAGUE…..OF WFWF.”
POISON Mondo calms down, and begins laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” you ask.
POISON Mondo looks down to me.
“Sorry…. Now you know my purpose in life.” he says with a giggle.
POISON Mondo winds up and delivers a vicious soccer kick to your face, and your life goes black.
