I think he used to be excited about AEW because it was a new line, and had potential to be a top seller for Jazwares. Now the newness has worn off ... and I'd bet that AEW is not their top seller at all. So he puts his energy into other things (like, his actual job ... not tweeting about AEW). Maybe they could hire a kid fresh out of college to run Jazwares social and hype AEW. We would all appreciate it for sure. But they aren't Mattel, with a dedicated WWE team. I think we should be thankful we get any info at all about AEW from them.
That said, I look forward to seeing something new at this panel! ...they do have a dedicated team to AEW, though. What do you think Magic does? He was in charge of the UFC line, as well, but... Dedicated marketing team. I'm not talking about design.

Gaslighting is fun. It's the bully's favorite go to tactic. Anyway, to circle back around-- personally, I could see Hasbro picking up the license once Jazwares deal runs out. 2nd biggest promotion in the wrestling world? A no brainer for the biggest toy company in the world. Hasbro feels like a stretch to me. They already have so many established brands in similar spaces (Marvel, Star Wars, Transformers, GI Joe) that they don't really need AEW. And AEW itself is a brand that is headed towards uncertainty when their tv deal comes up. Even if there is a really good chancer they stay with Warner, how much do you bid for a brand that could drastically reduce its media footprint in the coming months? Once you get beyond Mattel/Hasbro, what are the options? McFarlane's style has never really been highly articulated, playable figures. And Todd's track record of half starts outshines Jeremy's (remember that McFarlane Harry Potter line?). Once you get past that, you're into Jakks territory.

I could see Jada Toys taking a shot I've been impressed with their new Street Fighter line. But do they have retail distribution with the big box stores? The only things I'm familiar with that were at mass retail were the metals figs (which I loved), but those were dropped years ago aside from some of the box-set multipacks. Could be a chance for them to elevate their profile.

Maybe their Street Fighter and Mega Man lines will be what pushes them through

Fun fact: Super7 was in contention for the license. They really wanted it. But you want to talk about slow output with Jazwares, imagine Super7 having it...

They'd have pre-orders for up to UR20 by now with a release date of 2024. S7 is the absolute worst for putting out pre-orders wayyyyyyyyyy too far in advance.

I finally bit the bullet and bought the Thunder Rosa U9 chase from Mercari. I already have both Brian Cage and Rosa's other figure in that series and managed to get them signed when I met Cage and Rosa last year so I'm hoping to meet Rosa again and get my chase signed. Also two of the nicest people I've met over the years, btw.
Speaking of Series 9, did they stop including the trading cards for Series 10 and beyond? It appears that's not a thing for recent figs.

Does anyone know how long Jazwares has the AEW license before they have to either renew their deal, or lose it?

Does anyone know how long Jazwares has the AEW license before they have to either renew their deal, or lose it? ngl……….. i hope it’s soon. It’s like they flop with EVERYTHING - Quality control is horrible. Staining, figures feeling flimsy, belts being horribly oversized - The time between reveals and releases being very long. UR12 was first shown in September and are just being available for pre order in March - A lot of poor scans - The insane amount of straight rereleases. It’s not even repaints it’s just them dropping the same figure again And this is just personal opinion. The figures just feel terrible. I feel like the difference in receiving and posing and playing with a WWE Elite and AEW figure is just staggering. Like I feel the one thing that WWE absolutely undisputedly beats AEW in is the figure department

I think it's smart marketing to include a belt with the figure that a kid could wear too. That's savings!
