I know I am in the minority here, but I would be very disappointed if these were just like Mattels! I see this as a completely different toy line so I would like it to be different.

What big risk? They used existing tooling, and had very recognizable names in the first series. Jakks came out with much riskier lines while they had the WWF/E license. That’s ridiculous. Of course Mattel would have made flashback/Legends figures. Jakks took more risks than Jakks? This is all very confusing. Good thing you’re here to explain the facts to us. I think he means Jakks took more risks than the Classics line. I’m guessing he means stuff like the different scales etc.

I think he means Jakks took more risks than the Classics line. I’m guessing he means stuff like the different scales etc. Yeah, I assumed that's what he meant. That said, I think Jeremy deserves a ton of credit for proving a Legends focused line was viable because it had never been done before. Especially since he was signing these guys on an individual basis. I don't think Jakks did anything particularly risky prior to that point other than just evolve and change with the times. BCAs were a tech jump from Hasbros, TTL a tech jump from BCAs, and R3 followed suit. I think Jakks was progressing as tooling advanced and RA is where they landed. Jeremy took guys who had been off of TV, most of them for years and plenty of them obscure, and said, "this is what collectors/consumers want." And he wasn't wrong. I personally agree with the idea that I don't think Mattel would be making Flashback characters they way they have for the past decade if Jeremy didn't succeed at it first. I guess regardless of opinions on that matter, to the bigger point, I'm glad Jeremy is with Jazwares because I think he poured a ton of passion into that CS line and it was great for its time. So I expect him to bring a similar passion to the AEW figures, as well.

So I expect him to bring a similar passion to the AEW figures, as well. Completely agree. Jakks put out a Legends series in 97 or 98 that were basically statues with limited articulation, and I remember them being on clearance at KB for ages. You have to remember that WWE/F spent a ton of time and energy pushing their young, cool product and making legends seem like washed up has-beens during the Attitude Era as past stars jumped to WCW. Heck, during his feud with DX Sgt. Slaughter was came off as old as dirt when the guy had been world champ 6 years earlier. WWE didn't put the same emphasis on retired stars that they do today, and I don't think it was a given that the line would be a success. If that line fails, I don't think we see the same Mattel product we have today. Assuming the line gets off the ground successfully for the first few series, I'm interested to see what new ideas they might be able to introduce.

I hope for something completely new and original, but also something that's utterly derivative and consistent with everything we've seen before.

I’ve been out of commission with the flu all week so forgive me for being late and skipping over most of the discussion at first to just say this is awesome, and I’m pleasantly surprised.

I understand both sides of the argument but if they’re not in scale (or relatively close to it) I’ll probably end up passing on the line. I don’t mind if the articulation is different, but I like the idea of posing WWE, NJPW, the upcoming Lucha Bros and hopefully the AEW line with each other without it looking too odd.
Plus it’s fun for kids so they can have WWE vs AEW characters in dream marches we’ll probably never get. While they were different I loved having WWE vs WCW characters when I was a kid. It’d be a shame if you couldn’t play with the AEW figures with any other wrestling figure line.
I’m just saying I want to have Orange Cassidy vs Undertaker matches

It didn’t work. How was what I wrote hard to understand? Maximum Sweat, R3 and Ripped and Ruthless were risks taken by Jakks. New tooling, from what we’ve been told, is the main cost of figures, was all used with those lines. Signing very recognizable names, with little to no new tooling involved, was not a risk. Not to mention, half of the names in series 1 were still with the WWE full time. As far as the AEW figures, I’m very excited for them. I’m not counting on them being in scale with Mattel, but I really hope Jazwares strongly considers it. Considering we already have Mattel, plus what Super7 and Boss Fight Studios is giving us, AEW would be an incredible addition.

I’m in the same boat. I think I’d prefer smaller scale figures, and something more stylised, like the Jazwares Street Fighter figures. But I’m excited to see what they do either way.

I'd love having figures that could blend in with my mattel and tna marvel collection and that's what I'm hoping for, but at the same time a 3 1/4 line would be awesome. Imagine all the playsets they could make that would be perfect with the smaller size, like a Jericho cruise arena set that floats

I don't mind if it's a different articulation style I just would like it to be near to the Mattel scale.
I would also like a 3 1/4 as a side line to the main line.

I'm impressed with the Fortnite 6 inch figures. Hoping for something like them.

I feel like their best bet is to be in scale with Mattel figures.

Did some research on the Jazwares Fortnite stuff and this is what their 6", $15-$20 retail figures look like. If they put that level of quality into the AEW figures, we're going to be set.
