RVD was created as the inaugural champion in June 2006 for his victory, however RVD's world came crashing down. RVD lost the title, and soon lost the respect of ECW comrades. RVD felt everyone was out to get him, and he had to make statement. RVD took targets at anyone he can. And when his best friend in Sabu became 1# contender it was bound to be a issue. Sabu and RVD's tensions exploded over this issue, and who's going to lead ECW. With much of the lockeroom siding with Sabu. These two faced in Hardcore Match at Summer Slam 2006. With Sabu taking the victory.
Sabu was the new ECW Champion, and he was promising to take things to new heights but maintain what ECW was. Sabu would clash with Paul Heyman with his treatment of RVD after his defeat, and come to the aide of his former friend and make peace. However, The Big Show a outsider became 1# contender. Big Show was nothing more then that that. He awarded the shot by Mr.McMahon in his services in the DX rivalry. Show was taking out ECW stars left and right and he was coming for Sabu. No Mercy 2006 was SmackDown/ECW joint show. With Big Show taking the ECW Championship with Show and Heyman taking up old alliances from the past.
Big Show was destroying anything he can say, when he was confronted with Kurt Angle. Kurt Angle rechristened himself in the land of Extreme. And was embracing his new home and creating hybrid culture for many WWE draftees. However, Show would call Angle on this and and question what gotten into Angle. Angle would continue to want to challenge Show, but Show kept putting it off wanting to face on staple WWE event with Show defeating Angle at Survivor Series, and Angle's contracting expiring the next night.
Big Show wrecked up name, but many in ECW grew unhappy with Paul Heyman and Show's carnage fest. And the names added up for the first ECW event December to Dismember. Big Show, Cm Punk, RVD, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and The Sandman all locked inside the first every Extreme elimination chamber. The Rookie Cm Punk managed to eliminate Show in 3 minutes, and Punk the rookie birthed by fire in Extreme fought his way to winning the ECW Championship.
Cm Punk reign was hitting hard and loud with Punk knocking off Show at Royal Rumble 2007 in a Loser Leaves ECW Match. Punk was then facing off against RVD in the 2nd ECW event, Anarchy Rulz a week after No Way Out 2007. RVD was reclaiming what he had lost and was fighting back to the title. And he was trying to reclaim his image. Punk wasn't giving and both soon reverted to lack of respect to eachother when they faced in Barbed Wire Ring match. With Punk retaining the gold. WrestleMania 23 came around with Punk facing off against Sabu. Sabu saw Punk as disrespectful to the old order of ECW and WWE made. While Punk was made on ECW and he represented a true new era in ECW. Punk and Sabu faced off in Falls Count Anywhere match that tore threw ford field with Punk winning.
Punk was then seen by the Sandman trying to make image of the young champ and his straight edge lifestyle. Bashing him with beer and pouring beer on him. Punk and Sandman fought at Backlash with Punk making Sandman tap out in under 6 minutes. Punk continued his reign gaining Elijah Burke as ally as he helped him defeat Dreamer and Sandman at Judgment Day. However, Burke was inspired by Punk's fight to the old breed. Burke saw it as war against the old while Punk saw it as matter of respect. With the two facing at ECW One Night Stand 2007 in Ladder match with the two new stars fighting to establish what is new ECW. With Punk winning.
Punk's reign was caught to a end when Johnny Nitro answered open challenge to Punk, stealing the title. Over the next few months Nitro would knock Punk off time and time again trying to regain the title. Nitro finally rid himself of Punk. Nitro was arrorgant and wasn't afraid to mock ECW. And just saw any brand as opportunity. Nitro however would face off against Eddie Guerrero who's rekindled his marriage with Vickie Guerrero after finally over coming his feud with Marcus Corvon. Guerrero was ready and he took Punk out of contention and defeated Morrison at Unforgiven.
Eddie Guerrero ran with the gold knocking off Sabu, with Sabu seeing Eddie as sellout. And Guerrero being the first to embrace his WWE, WCW, and ECW working. Eddie continued to reign knocking off Morrison, Sabu, Miz, and Punk in 5 man Elimination match at Cyber Sunday 2007. Guerrero also started cross promotional feud with Edge after war of words on social media, and Edge insulting Vickie the new SmackDown GM. Eddie defeated Edge in traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series Elimination match. However, it was soon found out Vickie was cheating on him with Edge. And Edge had manipulated his way to the top. With Edge winning the World Title in 4 way with Eddie, Batista, and Taker at Armageddon 2007.
Chavo Guerrero took Eddie's side, until he was one of the goons on Edge's side. Betraying his uncle for it being always the Eddie Guerrero show and never about Chavo. Chavo saw this as his time to shine. With help from Edge he won the ECW title 2 weeks before the Royal Rumble. Chavo ran with the ECW Championship until ECW after No Way Out 2008. Chavo would stack the odds with his goons and Vickie. But, would face Chris Beniot. Chavo had Beniot assaulted before, but Eddie would run through the crowd causing distraction allowing Beniot to win with Crossface on Chavo in under 8 seconds.
Beniot would soon feud with Sabu going into WrestleMania 24, retaining the title. Then starting program with Cm Punk. With Punk back in the title hunt and Beniot seeing Punk as less then as just kid. The two would get heated. With Punk holding the briefcase as scare tatic to Beniot. Beniot would win at Backlash, end in Draw at Judgment Day and the two would team up at ECW One Night Stand 2008 to defeat Miz and Morrison. It came to Night of Champions 2008 with Punk winning. Punk would have to vacate the title as he was drafted to Raw 6 days prior and would win the World Title the next night.
The title was free and tournament to Great American Bash 2008 was held with Dreamer chasing the title he never had. His hopes were crushed by Sabu. Sabu would have his second run with the gold, beating Dreamer in singles or multi man matches. However, Sabu was defeated by Rookie upstart Jack Swagger At Survivor Series in Steel Cage. Dreamer felt he finally was on track to get win. Dreamer spent months chasing Swagger to Mania.
Dreamer finally defeated Swagger at WrestleMania 25 in Hardcore match to gain his first ECW Championship. Dreamer would defend the title against any all comers. That's all I got tbh.
