I just opened a Playmates ST:TNG Troi figure with this. Funny, I didn't realize it was a thing outside of the softer plastic. But she was hella greasy. It seriously grossed me out.
I have a Data figure coming soon. I'm opening him with gloves on and putting him straight in the figbath.

Most of my CS figures were greasy/sticky when i took them down to store away. I wiped them down with baby wipes and it took alot of scrubbing but seemed to work. The one thing i did notice on certain figures the rubber jackets, vests, coats, whatever that had this gunk on it kind of melted into the plastic of the figure. For example my announcer Jesse Ventura if you pull away the open jacket theres like a little flatten spot on one of his pecs from where the jacket stuck too. I know it doesnt matter since I'll never be taking that jacket off but it still sucks to know the figure is damaged under there and like him i have quite a few more red LOD is another where the shoulder pads melted/got stuck on the chest and left a flat mark.

Eww. Add two more Star Trek figures to this list.
I hate this it's so gross and it bothers my OCD. I keep forgetting to wear gloves and the tactile displeasure is bleah. It's weird because I have yet to experience this with any of my CS figures.
Thankfully, they've all come clean with Figbaths but I still haven't fixed that Buffy figure I believe rotted. That one isn't greasy, it's tacky. Total chemical breakdown. So very gross.

It is definitely not the lack of air, as some jackets of my loose figures oxidated as well.
