The 1970's has been labeled as the decade of the director and the subject of this thread has, on several occasions, been called the greatest director of the 70's. He directed four films in the 70's and all four were critically acclaimed, lauded with award after award, all of them nominated for Best Picture a the Academy Awards. But then the 80's happened. So wrestlingfigs....what is your favorite Coppola film of the 80's?

My favorite of his 80’s films is Rumble Fish. It’s deeply personal, and its black-and-white visuals and percussive score are haunting.

Just to put my two cents into this, my favorite of his work from the 80's is Rumble Fish. People ask what happened to Coppola after the 70's a lot of people point to Apocalypse Now driving him crazy, the death of his son in an accident, and filing for bankruptcy all point towards his downfall. Rumble Fish was probably his most ambitious film of the 80's and tried to introduce film techniques to a younger audience that may not be accustomed to some of the stuff that was in it. He was trying to open a younger generations eyes to say "this is what film can be" with Rumble Fish. It's gotta be hard that every movie you make people expect The Godfather level quality. But then again Coppola is probably sitting in a really comfortable chair reading a book and drinking wine, with no cares in the world right now.
