I don't know if it's just me or if anyone else feels the same, but after watching tonight's TakeOver, I wasn't really invested in it as much I used to. I used to look forward to watching it weekly and the TakeOver's (I still watch the TakeOver's), but now it's kind of like... meh. I feel like ever since NXT went on live TV, their weekly shows and TakeOver's has been missing something. I don't know what it is and I can't quite put my fingers on. It just doesn't feel like the same NXT as it did before they went on live TV. TakeOver Portland and TakeOver WarGames III didn't really click to me like TakeOver Toronto or TakeOver 25 did IN MY OPINION, but again I still enjoyed watching it. Even NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff/Blackpool II and World's Collide was better than both Portland and WarGames III. Does anyone else feel the same or am I just not that interested anymore?

Pretty sure it’s just you, the show tonight and the weekly show has pretty much been getting universally praised here and other forums. The story telling has really been great, they seem to have a plan, and honestly a plan that isn’t always obvious. I’m incredibly invested weekly and find it amazing that for the past six years they have pretty much been able to constantly continue to be great despite the changeover of talent.

Oh yeah, no doubt about the stories. The stories are always great and they always seem to progress more and more. There are things that I still find very predictable to where I actually called it, but I guess maybe it really is just me. Like I said, I don't know what it is and I can't quite put my fingers on it. I feel the same thing with ROH, AEW, and NJPW. Maybe I might be getting tired and getting out of the world of professional wrestling. Maybe I just need to take a break from it and then come back to it. Thanks for replying!

I know personally, my friends and I who watched it tonight were kind of 'meh' to it. I am not sure if it was because it was on a Sunday night, and usually it'd air on a Saturday night and it was more exciting than the following day's PPV, or what. But I know none of us who watched it cared that much tonight. We were more excited for the episode 1 of the Ruthless Aggression documentary show.

I feel the same to be honest. Especially now they're doing Ciampa v Gargano AGAIN One thing I’ll say about Gargano is, last time the people weren’t really into booing him. This seems like a natural thing to do because a lot of fans def seem “over” Johnny gargano. Besides Undisputed Era and Finn they do need to find some top level heels. The face side is loaded with Ciampa, Dream, Riddle, Dunne, Keith Lee, Dijakovic, Kushida. You need top level heels.

True enough - I've never been the biggest Gargano fan, don't get me wrong - he's a great worker, but he just doesn't get me invested like I should.

I feel that a little bit, but that is because everything was overly predictable. No result shocked me in the slightest. It didn't help that I don't care one bit for Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Tegan Nox or Dakota Kai. If that is the women's division moving forward, lord pass me the fast forward button. Give me more of Dijakovic and the Hoss crew of Priest, Lee and such. Slap some Ohno in there too and make a pure Hoss division with the NA championship.

My interest in NXT decreased back when Finn, Joe, Shinsuke etc left around 2016. I still watch the TakeOvers but I haven't watched the weekly show in years.

TakeOver: Portland was a fine and middling TakeOver. The amount I'm seeing NXT fans calling it the early PPV of the year is ridiculous.

Honestly, I think NXT has been as good as it's ever been since it went live.
They could do with beefing up their tag division, but that's literally my only complaint.

I've enjoyed NXT a lot more the past 2 months. The first couple months going live were a bit iffy for me. Felt like they tried too hard to make every episode a takeover. It feels more like NXT again, and I'm really enjoying it. That being said, this takeover did not do it for me. Everything was really strong from a technical perspective, but felt sooooo predictable, and the only not super predictable spots (Gargano & Gonzolez) just took the wind out of the sails of the matches. (Well, the typical LOL UE interferes shtick really killed the match, Gargano just filled in the grave). Every match went exactly like you would have expected it to, plus a couple crappy screwjob finishes.
Tag division is definitely a joke right now. NXT UK has a significantly deeper tag division, and there is zero reason for that to be the case.
Overall though the week to week stuff has been great. Women's division continues to be the industry standard. Balor is starting to feel like the Prince again. Just get some real tag teams back, and don't try so damn hard with the takeover to keep topping itself.

Just takes time Nese and Kannelis have been teaming up on all the NXT house shows with matching gear

NXT is my least favorite show to watch every week. I'm not saying it's bad. It has logical booking, none of the matches are horrible or boring, but for me, I can't stand watching it. It is exhausting to watch NXT every week. On your weekly show you get 4-5 matches, all of which go 15-20 minutes with finisher kickouts and false-finishes galore. Takeovers are exhausting to watch! I am numb by the end of it. Kicking out of a finish means nothing to me by the end. I was so zoned out during Ciampa/Cole. Nothing surprised me, entertained me, shocked me, caught me of guard, made me interested. It was the same paint by number "good indie match" that all the other matches had. Which isn't to say those are bad matches by any means, it just becomes rough to watch when EVERY match is that way, Takeover and weekly TV wise! Dakota/Tegan was my favorite on Takeover just because it was different than the others! It's why I prefer Dynamite every week. Dynamite has some long matches, kickouts galore, the same kinda stuff but they also gave us the lashing segment, they give us an Inner Circle promo. They give us something so we can breathe! So a story can get developed outside of matches alone. I can't stand Dijakovic/Lee's matches. They all scream "TELL US WE HAD A GOOD MATCH!" Like they do a paint by numbers, beat for beat, same type of match. Big spot, big spot, big spot. This is the 3rd Dijakovic match where one person hits a big move from the top rope, then the person who got hit with it hits their finish right after and wins. Dijakovic has done that exact finish with Lee twice now and Killian Dane, I believe. Might have been Swerve. It's just boring to me. I don't like watching the same match every week, let alone every match on a single card! It's tiring! I like a building card more than anything. Kick off the show with a ten minute match and build from there where your more important matches get the time and the finish kickouts. NXT had a kickoff match between Swerve/Garza that had a finisher kickout! On kick-off! That's ridiculous to me! I do understand why people like it though. It is fast paced, in your face, never stopping. But for, once you watch it every week, you don't need to see it anymore. I can not watch the next month of NXT and still feel like I didn't miss anything new.

As someone who started watching NXT prior to it blowing up, nothing will ever recreate the feeling of those early years. It was like lightning in a bottle. That being said, I think they still put on a consistently great product since morphing into the super indy, and the extra hour of television is utilized very well. They needed it with the amount of talent under the umbrella now.
Takeover: Portland was great as usual. I do think they need to start putting some kind of breather match on the card, because going pedal to the metal with every match on the card can wear you out a bit as a viewer.

Everything happens in the ring. I'm not saying I want Lashley/Lana type stuff on NXT, but something to break up the monotony would be nice.

And the stuff they use to break up the matches, are just brawls with security breaking it up usually. I wish NXT had more ideas. It feels very "basic" idea wise.

It's definitely good and has its own niche carved out nicely but it's starting to run its course a bit with me. In theory I love the small and more intimate settings and stripped down production, but I think I'm just tired of it. Adam Cole really killed their whole style for me. More power to them, still have respect. Is no longer for me really anymore.

Decided to have a couple of people over for NXT Portland who aren't wrestling fans to kind of get an outsider idea of what the PPVs are like. And I do have to say they were DRAINED and tired by the end of the show. They thought the show was good overall but just very tiring to keep up with.
ANYWAYS, my personal opinion since I have been watching NXT since the beginning, this past week's PPV was awesome. But having it on a Sunday does make a huge difference for me. Saturdays were fun since it felt like the cool fun night out with friends kind of vibe. I usually have a big viewing party with food and beer for every TakeOver then gush about it all day on Sunday. I know it's going to be on a Saturday again for Mania but that is my mindset of the TakeOvers.
The TVs have been really great but the live weekly tapings have definitely shown a different booking style if that makes sense? Back when it was taped I felt like the week to week flow was a bit better then it does now. With the taped shows I would know what is happening for (sometimes)the next 2 episodes and it would get me excited. Now I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday(sometimes Wednesday) to know what is going to go on for the show that night.
Overall, I still love NXT and it is doing great. This is just a new chapter in their great(almost unbelievable) story.
