The reason I ask is that I've been collecting figures on/off over the years [recently getting out again late last year], and the thing that always "puts me off" after a certain amount of time, is my age. I'm personally 32 this year, and after seeing various WWE figures and now the AEW ones, I keep wanting to get back into it - yet when is a person "too old" to collect?
I know I'm not the oldest here by a mile, and I know of others 10+ years my senior who collect all sorts of things, let alone action figures, but I also know the "stigma" that comes with "oh man you're 30 and still collect/play with toys?".
Anyways, how old are we all? Why do you collect? Are you a "for show"/MOC guy or gal only or do you play/have a figure fed?
Edit to add:
I've been collecting since I was 5? First figure was the Galoob WCW Sting in orange/peach tights, and I had some other WCW Galoobs + Hasbro's. Got properly into collecting once the WCW toybiz line came out, and then moved onto Jakks Ruthless/Classics later down the road. Always had figure feds, and like others below, even when I didn't have wrestling figures, I'd make my other action figures wrestle each other as well.
Also had a collection of TNA Toybiz and later TNA Jakks figures also. Since the Mattel took the license I've had collections of basics and elites up until this year, where I've sold up. Over the years I bought and sold figures so many times, especially now I'm married/have a daughter.

I'm 34. I don't play with my figures, but I like them as a display piece, and I've always preferred figurine type items as showcases for my interests.

I'm 39. I'll never be to old to collect. That's at least how I feel now anyway.

35. Started like this.
I've been a lurker because wrestling figures always fascinated me. Aside from Power Rangers and TNMT hey were my favorite toys as a kid growing up. Even when I didn't have wrestling figures (but those 12 inch GI Joe Street Fighter figures) I'd make my figures wrestle.
Eventually I saw on this site the Sting Defining Moment figure and really liked it. Around that same time or some time after the Daniel Bryan elite from his WM 30 victory came out as did the Paige elite figure. As luck would have it, both Daniel Bryan and Paige were doing an autograph signing and meet and greet at Florida Supercon that year. I then decided that since my divorce was final and I would be getting my own place, it'd be cool to have a few pieces signed by my favorite wrestlers (not yet fully realizing that Florida does get a lot of conventions, and that wrestlers are often at these things. I honestly thought comic cons were strictly comic related).
So, after trying to figure out what to get signed, I figured since my TRU had an over abundance of both figures, I'd do that since I saw someone (Luis?) with a massive collection of signed figures. Thought they looked cool and could be displayed better than 8x10s.
5 years later, still collecting. Ralized it took up a bunch more space than anticipated. Sold the ones I couldn't get signed or that I had dupes of, and have decided in addition to what I have kept, to now only collect the elites of Styles, Lynch, and Bliss and all figures Sting.
TL:DR - I decided late in life and after my divorce to start collecting because I noticed two wrestlers I was a fan of were signing autographs in my area. It was opening Pandora's Box.

I’m 41. I started collecting when my son was old enough to play with toys. We used to watch the wwe network archives together and I bought him elite flashbacks. He doesn’t care about them anymore, but we have a pretty cool representation for the era we know. And from time to time when a first time character is made that we are missing from the period I still feel the need to fill that hole. Ive got a lot of moc figures also that I’ll eventually probably sell off as long as the loose versions we own aren’t too beat up.
Also I buy all Macho man elites to keep moc. For me.

27. I stopped collecting wrestling figures once Jakks lost the license but I wasn’t really happy with the WWE product itself at the time to collect Mattel’s and I was in a relationship so my interests lay somewhere else lol. Since then I’ve only brought E22 Rock and SH Figuarts Goku’s for display purposes only.

26. My dad was always into wrestling, he got me into it. I got wwf figures and the raw is war ring for my 7th birthday and the rest is history...never stopped collecting. Got heavily into jakks and then stopped watching wwe around 2009. Lost interest in their product and moved onto indies. Kinda stopped collecting figures at this point. Not sure what spawned me to start collecting mattel wwe figs but around 2014 I started to overhaul and trade out my jakks collection for wwe elites. I am now totally caught up with figure collecting. Got heavily into indies for about 5 years, then kinda just backed out. Last january when I seen the first AEW jericho interview I was curious to what this company was going to do. In october I sat down to watch my first wrestling show on TV in over a decade! Was overly surprised and got hooked. Haven't missed an episode yet. Wednesdays are now my favorite day of the week because of it.
I guess I never grew up since my 7th birthday, I play with my figures and do full shows like I used to as a kid. Sometimes it's cool just to put them on display with entrance gear or belts too. My decision making is really weird when it comes to choosing who I am going to buy. Sometimes i've never heard of the figure I'm buying, if they have a cool attire or look/have been in the indies that i've watched I'll buy them for my figure feds. I also collect attitude era & ruthless aggression era wwe figures as that was the era I grew up with and fondly remember. I also have collected the essential legends for nostalgic purposes.

39 Collected the Jakks Classics line and gave up when that finished. Sold off collection abut got the bug again just over two years ago. Grown collection to over 350+ already.
Love collecting and love WWE.
All for display not for playing with.

25. I used to collect Jakks growing up, then didn't continue with Mattel. In 2011, I saw E10 Kane and was blown away by how good it was - I bought it, and it snowballed from there. I've pic fedded over the years, and just never really got out of the habit of buying them.

31. I started with Hasbro's in the early 90's but fell out of interest with wrestling all together up until late '99 or early 2000 in the peak of the attitude era. I picked up a few toybiz wcw figures, and titantron jakks figures. Again fell out of interest with wrestling somewhere around 2002 right up until last year when my 7 year old Son started watching WWE and AEW. I picked up a few loose mattel figures off eBay, built him a ring, and now some 40 or so figures later he has a pretty stacked figure fed! All looseys, all pretty knackered, scuffed, and with certain bits missing (I'm looking at you Strowmanns ponytail!) But fuelling his imagination. And a great bonding thing for me and him

30.
Didn’t start collecting till the spring of 2015, when I saw HOF Warrior at Target, then I got DM Hogan off Amazon, and with eBay/toy shows played catch-up over the next three years.

32.
Collecting out of habit. I've been collecting figures since the Hasbro days. It's the only way of life I know. My collection is on display. I also use parts over and over to make new figures out of the scraps for fun. It's my hobby.

38. Loved toys as a kid. Action figures were my favorite type of toys. When I was a senior in High School, I saw the Toybiz WCW figures at our local store and grabbed most of the first wave just to have and sit in my room. Did this for a handful of things until around 2006 and started hardcore into Marvel Legends and Classic Superstars. Both of those gave way to other toy lines.
Now, I mostly collect Sting, AJ Styles, and WCW stuff, but will buy current guys that I really enjoy. I've got NJPW and Lucha Bros pre-ordered and will do so with AEW the moment they're available.

31. My parents started buying me Hasbros when I was 2 years old and had discovered wrestling (1990). I continued to collect those until 1996 when Jakks released the BCA. Glad that my parents were nice enough to buy me a figure pretty much every time we went to the store. Kept collecting through TTL, but stopped when the Ruthless Aggression figures came out. I was 14 at the time and thought my friends would make fun of me for collecting figures still. Stupid, I know. The entire time that I wasn't collecting though, I still checked out the figures each time I was at WalMart or Target.
But a few years ago, my daughter got super into wrestling and with that came figures. I started buying her favorite wrestlers. Then a couple of mine. And then sometime in 2018, I dove back in to collecting again. Missed out on some awesome figures, but I've built a decent collection now.

41. I have been practicing McMahonism since I was 10, right after WrestleMania V. I loved WWE, but that love changed when the WWE Network debuted. However, my obsession with Gold and Leather will never fade away.

I am 19 years old, born in 00. I started watching on May 30th 2008, my late older brother got me into it. I was given some wrestling figures when I was younger; it was a Edge (Wearing Red rated r superstar pants with those silver boots, I don't think he ever wore that attire) and Kurt Angle from his ECW run). I started collecting right after, I go a Edge/Mr. Kennedy set, HBK/Cena Wm 23, Edge/Foley WM 22 set as some of my very first. I was nut for collecting and didn't start to slow down until 2014. I stopped watching wrestling weekly after Summer Slam 2014. I didn't like the product, and everything going on in it since WrestleMania 24. I do look back and find lots of good little parts and gems. I would watch the Manias and I always knew who was like WWE Champion. I maybe bought like 1-4 figures a year between 2015-2018. This is also when my life started to change. I got a social life outside of the internet. And it was key years of High School and what not. And I was well to busy being teenager. I didn't start getting interested again until late 2017. I still don't watch Raw or SmackDown weekly, I only watch the PPV's every month. With collecting I went through phase of I shouldn't be doing this and it don't feel right, but good pale mentioned people like collecting and adding to they're cars. So why can't we collect, and I actually haven't felt bad day since he said that.

35 - I started collecting again when I found-out that the Retros were coming-out; that brought me back as I am a Hasbro fanboy. That was the only thing that could’ve brought me back to WWE figures collecting.
I now have a few Elites and the first two sets of Ultimates, but I’m pretty much “on hiatus” as long as the Retros are - the Elites are amazing, but they’re not my “guys”.
