I was talking to some lifelong wrestling fans today. I’m in a group chat with two of my friends. We have been watching WWE for 25 years.
One of the big things I’ve come to realize is that Vince McMahon realizes so heavily on nostalgia and attitude era performers that he can’t seem to get out of his own way and now this wrestlemania will once again be subject to the same problem it’s had for 10 years.
Wrestlemania is looking to have three matches that will have performers who are not even part time acts: Cena, Goldberg, Undertaker. Three valuable wrestlemania spots will be taken up by people who honestly aren’t really in the business anymore. It’s horrible booking. It has to be demoralizing to younger talent. As a viewer, I’m simply turned off.
I don’t really understand why Goldberg would need a championship in order to put eyes on the product.
I don’t really understand why the undertaker needed to come out and bury AJ in one minute.
I’m genuinely curious what you all think.

I bought my WrestleMania ticket expecting to see some of the big stars, and it’s nice to see they’re being booked. I don’t want to see the same card as Backlash and TLC.

Ha, no. The idea of WrestleMania, and everything that it encompasses (which, yes, includes talents past their prime) is the draw. WWE could wait 'til the day of to write the card, and they'd still fill the stadium.

I think there is a big difference between name recognition and quality programs.

In terms of making money, no. In terms of being a quality show, most likely.

Objectively, WrestleMania is not going to flop. It's going to turn stupid amounts of money for the company and continue its role as a license to print cash for years to come.

It won't flop because there will be matches that should be really good and are matches that people really want to see (Charlotte vs. Rhea, Edge vs. Orton, Becky vs. Baszler, etc.). However, the top of card will have guys that people are just tired of and don't want to see (Lesnar, Regins, Goldberg), and that will leave a bad taste in many fans' mouths.

For me, I don't think Mania can ever technically "flop." The spectacle of it all is always very fun for me!

Considering how tickets are presold before the plans are being laid, there is no chance it won't be profitable. I can't imagine enough fans will throw their money down the drain by no-showing based on abysmal booking. The mass media will always laud over the event itself and pay no heed to the finer details we fans scrutinize. Will some matches be roundly booed? Most assuredly so, but others will be cheered. In summation,
VINCE WINS LOL

Goldberg vs Reigns Cena vs Wyatt Taker vs AJ Lesnar vs Drew Edge vs Orton Flair vs Ripley Becky vs Baszler
Sounds like a HUGE star studded show to me. Cmon when was the last time a WM card had this much star power? No way it’s flopping.

I haven't enjoyed a wrestlemania from a wrestling and storyline standpoint in a while and I dont think that will change this year. Wrestlemania has become more of a holiday where friends come over, we drink beer and make fun of the stupid new wrestlers.

People talk about the star power and the huge draws these old timers are, but whats going to happen in the future? When these Legends can't go anymore the WWE are going to have to relay on their young stars to carry the program. I would rather watch a five star AJ Vs Rollins match over a Lesnar or Goldberg squash.
Take Mania 17 for an example, the main roster carried the show and didn't play second fiddle to Macho Man, Piper or Hogan.

It’s not like these guys have a lot of miles left...

We had my bachelor party at Mania last year and making jokes and getting buzzed was the better part of it haha.
