Looking into the mechanics of my unreleased WWF Hasbro growing chest Hulk Hogan prototype. It appears if you move his arms upwards — twisting the metal pins on his shoulders, the part on his chest will come out (hence the look of ‘Hulking Up’ or the effect of the growing chest)...not sure how the mechanic looks with the rubber torso in place but this is pretty sweet!

I remember when that got unearthed for the first time in recent years. Didn't see closeups of the mechanics though. What an odd piece. I probably would have gotten it as a kid though, had it been released! Cool pickup.

Pretty odd, but cool piece of WWF Figure history to own.

I love seeing that they were experimenting with things like this; can’t see it having made a good figure, but I love that they tried it.
Wonder if they had other concepts like this that didn’t make it into the line. If so then I hope we get to find-out more at some point.
Thanks for sharing!

wow - i wonder if this concept was done around the same time as that chest beating warrior one that i have seen photos of.
it's quite fun to speculate what hasbros intentions were with these....regardless it's a piece of history and our childhood!

Here’s a mock up I own from Hasbro of series 8 Hitman, they were considering giving him a clothesline style action but decided to stick with the original mould just a different paint job. I use to have the series 8 Lex Mock Up also with the half painted head on Warrior 2 torso.

Yes dude that’s a cool piece, I use to have that in my collection, has a cool pull cord on back and you didn't sell that to me because? lol do you happen to know any of the background on it? looking at both these prototypes....it looks like hasbro was experimenting with a new line? or, i'm not sure about the timeline....but they did the hogan and warrior 12" talking figures. maybe those were in place of these two possible prototypes because they couldn't get it right? hogan and warrior were the two top guys at the time...so it would make sense that they were experimenting w/ their characters. or maybe the talking figures had nothing to do w/ these prototypes and were going to be released anyways. anyways, don't mind me...i'm just having some fun speculating while i relax on a Friday night.

I ended up retreading it to a friend who sold it on to another collector who I know , it’s in the uk 🇬🇧, from what I read when it was first surfaced by Hasbromaniac, it was going to be part of a possible new line and they were floating around the ideas of a Conan style line, others speculated that it was going to be a shaking ropes Warrior figure, it’s been around many collections, it’s a cool piece, I’m not sure 🤔 if it had anything to do with the talking ones, maybe message Ron Rudat he’s quite good at talking, I’ve had brief chats with him on Facebook many years ago for some confirmation on items. It’s definitely a funny 😁 creation it was the warrior 2 head screwed into a Demolition Smash torso with Duggan 1 legs painted over with black, the arms I’m not sure 🤔 there from, people said Conan figures?, plus the cord on back which moves the arms, it also had writing/notes ✍️ on the arm.

Ron Rudat...i know the name. i actually saw a youtube video where some guy interviewed him which looked like to be in his house. he was asking him about a lot of the rare hasbros - didn't hear him ask about any of these particular prototypes. wonder if he might remember these...maybe worth shooting him a message. i'll think about it. it is a funny creation. the mix & match of pieces is a head scratcher but also hilarious lol if you don't mind me asking....how did you even come across this piece?

Yeah dude he may know some information, he did at one point own and sell a lot of Hasbro Pre Production work back in the day, was how a lot of these things ended up in the general public’s collections, I’m sure he was around in contact with all the other few who were working on the production sketches and moulds, concepts at that time. I think an old collector sold up years ago and another collector bought certain prototypes from him and then that collector sold up and the next collector I picked it up from, first time I saw it was around 2008 and that was the background back then on the item, there’s a collector in here called Hasbromaniac who might be able to tell you how he acquired before he had it. I’ve had fair amount of these things over the years dude, I’ve got a few friends who also do or did collect the rarer pieces so it’s usually through one another we find these pieces, just mail me if you need any info or help sometime if your interested in these things, I’m pretty much retired but happy to help.
