Welcome to ROH... A diary created by The Shiniest Wizard.
Hey guys! I originally was in the middle of creating my NXT Diary, but that ran into some issues. While writing that diary it was documenting all the results that happened from my EWR game save. The only problem with that is that my creativity was quite limited. I wasn't able to really be as creative as I wanted to and in the end, that diary was more of a test drive for me. So now I am moving onto this one which will be my Ring of Honor save. I have MONTHS of TV lined up that just need to be documented so this 100% will be a long term thing. Hope you guys all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy making it! Let's take a look at the roster and championships that we will be working with going forward:

ROH TV - May 6, 2005 Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
An intro video showing the best highlight clips of ROH's past are presented on screen. Clips of The American Dragon, Austin Aries, Jay Lethal, CM Punk, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and many other current and former superstars are presented. Nigel McGuinness is seen backstage. He promotes that while he respects The American Dragon, there is no one like Nigel McGuinness. And tonight, he will show the American Dragon what will happen when he steps into the ring with a true Englishman. As the promo ends, it is faded into the image of a loud and excited crowd loudly slapping the barricades and yelling "R-O-H" at the tops of their lungs. Jimmy Bower and Lenny Leonard are your announce team.
Bower welcomes you to what will be the most exciting hour of Professional wrestling that you will see this week. Lenny agrees and asks what matches we have lined up for the viewing public. Tonight we will be seeing The Havana Pitbulls facing off against the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs in non-title action. Samoa Joe will be facing Jimmy Rave, CZW's Trent Acid will be facing off against Alex Shelley, Amazing Red and Low Ki in a Fatal 4 Way match. Also The American Dragon will be facing off against Nigel McGuinness in our Main Event!
But up next, Triple Threat action as Ace Steel, Jay Lethal and Matt Sydal all do battle! 1) Jay Lethal def. Ace Steel and Matt Sydal in a Triple Threat Match (8:04)Looking to make an impact tonight, Ace Steel and Matt Sydal strive to get a victory over the Ring of Honor Pure Champion Jay Lethal. The competitors all shake each other's hands respectively to show respect for one another. All three men go the distance in this battle with the crowd jumping out of their seats for every high flying maneuver nailed by Sydal, thunderous clothesline by Steel or quick superkick connected by Lethal. Steel provides a great deal of power moves to try and slow down the other two agile men in the contest. But in the end Jay Lethal is able to nail the Lethal Injection on Matt Sydal for the victory. He celebrates with his title as all three men once again shake each other's hands.
A hype video is shown following that match that highlights the brute strength of Samoa Joe. He is seen dropping AJ Styles hard onto the mat with Uranage slams and tapping out CM Punk with the Coquina Clutch.
The Havana Pitbulls talk backstage saying how tonight they will not only defeat the current tag team champions, but they will go on to take the titles from them. 2) Havana Pitbulls def. BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs (NON-TITLE) in a Tag Team Match (9:31)Jimmy and BJ put the boots to the contenders tonight. Commentary makes it a point to remind you that this is a non-title match. The tag team champions take control of a majority of the match, but with their ego getting in the way, Whitmer complains to the ref about a close count. Rocky Romero pulls him down for a roll-up victory. The Pitbulls slide out of the ring with smiles on their faces. Whitmer and Jacobs both argue with the referee saying that he screwed them over.
A hype video discussing the upcoming Fatal 4 Way is shown. The best highlights of all four men are shown.
A scene saying "earlier today" is shown with Jimmy Rave and Samoa Joe. Joe is walking into the building when Jimmy Rave stops him at the door of the arena. Rave tells Joe that he doesn't belong here and that he should just leave. While Joe doesn't say much, he states, "oh yeah?" before running his fist into Jimmy Rave's jaw laying him out. Joe enters the building as Rave is still trying to come to after that strong strike. 3) Low Ki def. Alex Shelley, Amazing Red & Trent Acid in a Fatal Four Way Match (7:41)All 4 men make their way to the ring as they shake each other's hands at the opening of the contest. Amazing Red immediately shows his athleticism when he nails Shelley with a pelee kick. Acid and Ki go back and forth with Ki landing the majority of his strikes. They do some arm locks that are reversed back and forth, they both try to do a dropkick but have the same idea. As the crowd is cheering for them Shelley makes his way back to the ring as he kicks Ki in the face and tries to do battle with Acid. Amazing Red nails them both with a double hurricanrana. Later on in the end, Ki is able to hit the Warrior's Way for the win on Trent Acid.
After his loss, Trent Acid is seen backstage with an ice pack on his neck as he is passed by Chris Hero. Hero stops and looks at Acid. He says, "Damn bud, couldn't get the job done tonight?" Acid quickly gets up and throws his ice pack. Hero continues on his bickering stating, "Hey hey relax, relax. All I'm saying is that if it was me in that match...the result would have been very different tonight." Acid smirks and says, "How about this, next week, put your money where your mouth is so we can see how good you really are." Acid walks away still holding his neck as Hero tries to stop him, he obviously does not want to have this match. vs 4) Samoa Joe def. Jimmy Rave (6:52)After what happened earlier today, Samoa Joe and Jimmy Rave do battle. Jimmy comes out to the ring holding his jaw as he is seen to be very angry. To start the match he is able to take out some of his frustration on Joe by connecting with some good kicks and clubs to the back of the head. He is able to back Joe into the rope until the ref pulls Rave off. Joe is visibly furious as he comes back with flying dropkicks, yakuza kicks and uranages that leaves Rave looking like a rag doll. In the end, Joe lifts Rave up in the corner for the Muscle Buster. He follows it up immediately with a Coquina Clutch for the victory when Rave passes out.
Samoa Joe celebrates in the ring as commentary shows a graphic for our upcoming main event. American Dragon vs Nigel McGuinness in one on one action!
Austin Aries is standing with the ROH World Title draped over his shoulder. He says that he is the epitome of Ring of Honor seeing as he brings HONOR to the World Title. He says that he will open the doors of ROH to anyone who wants to accept his open challenge in 2 weeks. vs 5) American Dragon def. Nigel McGuinness (19:52)
Before Dragon can even make it to the ring. Austin Aries comes out and pulls up a chair on the outside. He is dressed in a full piece suit with his sunglasses on. The crowd loudly sings Final Countdown for the American Dragon as he stares down Aries on the outside. Him and Nigel hesitantly shake each other's hand. They start the match off slow with technical wrestling. As the match progresses they pick up the pace a bit with the crowd split right down the middle for who they want to win. Aries is seen outside multiple times watching these two potential contenders with great interest. Dragon and Nigel both work on each other's limbs trying to break the other man down, it is almost like a contest for who has the best submission holds. At about the 15 minute mark when they are at their peak of the match, Nigel is sent to the outside of the ring. Aries stands and puts his hands up so the ref knows that he isn't touching him. Dragon goes for a dive onto Nigel on the outside but he moves Aries into the line of fire as he gets wiped out. Nigel and Dragon have beat red chests and bruises on their body. As this 20 minute time limit match almost reaches its end, Dragon hits Nigel with a thunderous headbutt that rocks Nigel, leading to a cattle mutilation for the win for Dragon. Following the match, Aries hits the ring and attacks Dragon as he is about to shake the hand of Nigel McGuinness. He beats down on Dragon as Nigel surprisingly lets it happen. But during the beating Samoa Joe comes out for the save for Dragon chasing off Austin Aries. He helps pick Dragon up as they have a stare down. Joe sticks his hand out for a sign of loyalty as Dragon hesitantly accepts as the crowd cheers for both men loudly. Jimmy Bower and Lenny Leonard sign us off saying next week we will be seeing Trent Acid vs Chris Hero, Jay Lethal will be in action once again, and what will come of the situation that just happened before us?

ROH TV - May 13, 2005 ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Chris Hero starts off the show talking on the phone. He is complaining that the ruling to make his match tonight was ridiculous. He promises to shut up Trent Acid and put him in his place. Hero hangs up the phone and looks at the camera man. He says, "You know it's rude to ease drop, get out of here!" His promo comes to a close as promo ends, the ROH faithful greet us with fists in the air and excited faces throughout the crowd. Jimmy Bower and Lenny Leonard are here once again as your announce team.
Bower says we have one of the most exciting hours of Professional wrestling for you all here tonight. A huge announcement is to be made tonight by ROH officials! As well as Homicide making his debut against the quick and agile Jack Evans in a battle of power vs speed. The ROH Pure Champion will face off against Chris Sabin in Non-Title action. Matt Sydal, Spanky and Sonjay Dutt all collide in a Triple Threat match. And finally for our Main Event, after Austin Aries and Nigel McGuinness brutally assaulted The American Dragon last week, he teams up with the man who saved him as he and Samoa Joe. How will they fare against the angry Englishman and the ROH World Champion?
But before that question is answered... Up next, after last week's dispute, Chris Hero put his money where his mouth is as he faces Trent Acid one on one!
vs 1) Trent Acid def. Chris Hero (8:28)Trent Acid comes out to loud cheers from the fans here tonight. As they stand in the ring the crowd is chanting "F*** You Hero!" to his complete joy. He goes to shake Trent's hand, but first he makes sure to spit in his own hand to be disrespectful. Acid is able to connect with a giant superkick for only a 2 count. The crowd thought he had the match won there. Both men go back and forth, Acid taking a majority of the abuse here. He finds a second wind after kicking out of a Rubik's Cube. The crowd is in disbelief and so is Hero. Hero's cockiness of not taking immediate advantage pays him big time as Acid is able to hit a big Yakuza Kick that leads into a definitive Acid drop for the win. Acid defeats Hero and defends his spot on the roster, Hero's simple mistake cost him.
Spanky is seen backstage eating when Prince Nana comes over and decides to give him a hard time. He calls him lazy, unreliable and a waste on the roster. Spanky is confused at first by this but looks back to his food and smiles, continuing to eat happily before his match tonight. Nana leaves in disgust.
2) Chris Sabin def. Jay Lethal (NON-TITLE) (8:51)We come back for some Non-Title singles action. Chris Sabin and Jay Lethal make their way out and both shake hands. Sabin and Lethal both try to figure each other out going for multiple lock ups and take downs. They go back and forth with arm drags. At one point, Sabin is outside as Lethal goes for a double axe handle, but Sabin kicks him in the face. Immediately after Sabin is able to go to the top rope and hit a senton onto Lethal who is in pain on the outside. The crowd is getting louder as the match progresses. Lethal attempts to go for a Lethal Injection but Sabin slips out and goes for a roll-up. Lethal kicks out out two barely, he connects with a kick to the gut and a running forearm to take Sabin down. Lethal goes high risk attempting an elbow drop, but it misses. Chris Sabin sees his opportunity and hits a Cradle Shock for the victory over the Pure Champion. Sabin celebrates with the crowd who is in shock with his victory. He stands Lethal up and shakes his hand. Lethal looks disappointed in this loss.
Following the match we see Homicide backstage. He says that tonight none of Jack Evans flips or tricks will match up to what he will do to him in that ring tonight. "This isn't a match homeboy, this is a street fight to me" says Homicide before he walks off throwing up an LA hand sign.
A video is shown of The Havana Pitbulls after their Non-Title victory last week. They are celebrating in the locker room by themselves as Whitmer and Jacobs come in and attack them. They lay them out and even smash a bottle over the head of Ricky Reyes before referees and security show up to separate them. 3) Spanky def. Matt Sydal & Sonjay Dutt in a Triple Threat Match (10:23)This match is probably the most high speed match that has been put on by far from ROH as of yet. All three men respect the Code of Honor and shake each other's hand. Spanky starts off hot hitting the ropes with Sydal, Sydal is able to cut him off with a big dropkick but as he turns around, Sonjay is perched on the top rope waiting for him. A majority of this match is handled between Sonjay and Sydal who only Spanky picking certain spots wisely. He is able to break up a Hindu Press from Sonjay onto Sydal. He tosses Sonjay out and hits a Sliced Bread onto Sydal for the victory.
Commentary says Spanky looked good tonight as they refresh everyone's mind that next week, Austin Aries is holding an open challenge for the ROH World Title. Who on the roster could possibly accept this daunting challenge next week? Could be Spanky or Trent Acid after big wins tonight?
vs 4) Homicide def. Jack Evans (7:58)Homicide and Evans both shake hands. This match lives up to it's hype of speed vs strength. Throughout the match, Evans uses his quickness and speed to outsmart Homicide's attacks. Every single move is turned into a acrobatic reversal for the first half of this match. It isn't until Evans gets too confident on the top rope where Homicide is able to hang him up. A big suplex down to the mat followed up with a Gringo Killer gets the win for Homicide.
Homicide plays to the crowd as they all cheer for him. A graphic is shown on the screen announcing that our main event coming up next!
We come back as Jimmy Bower makes the big announcement that on Saturday June 18th, LIVE from Boston Massachusetts, Ring of Honor will be holding their next big PPV event in partnership with R4 Video! The show will be titled "Respect is Earned" and the Ring of Honor Championship WILL BE DEFENDED in the Main Event. Also, BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs will be defending their ROH Tag Team Championships against The Havana Pitbulls! More matches will be announced in the coming weeks and tickets are available now for purchase! 5) Nigel McGuinness & Austin Aries def. American Dragon & Samoa Joe (16:04)
All four men stand in the ring as they are introduced to the crowd. Dragon and Joe receive loud cheers while Nigel and Aries receive a mixed reaction. Dragon and Nigel start the match off with no handshake. They begin to go for their holds but Nigel slaps Dragon in the face. Dragon and Nigel strike each other very hard once again as Aries tags himself in, Nigel is not happy. Aries charges at Dragon and is able to get him to force a tag to Joe, Aries tries to flee. When Joe is able to catch the faster Aries they continue to battle. This continues on for quite a bit until Joe gets the hot tag to Dragon who cleans house. He looks to be unstoppable but Aries is able to reverse his cattle mutilation into a roll-up for the victory. Following they match they continue to try and beat down on Joe and Bryan like last week. Then the lights cut out. MICK FOLEY shows up on the stage to the crowd becoming unglued! He charges down to the ring, knocks Nigel to the outside as Aries falls and tries to plead with him. Foley takes out his sock looking for the Mandible Claw but Aries just narrowly avoids him. Foley grabs the mic and says "I accept your challenge for next week Aries...HAVE A NICE DAY!" As the crowd goes insane for this announcement, Foley shakes hands with Joe and Dragon. Jimmy Bower and Lenny Leonard sign us off saying next week we will be seeing Nigel McGuinness vs Samoa Joe and many more matches including the main event of MICK FOLEY answering Austin Aries' open challenge for the ROH World Championship! Also, MORE matches will be announced for the Respect is Earned PPV!

Not too much to go over yet, it's setting up some decent exposition for the direction in which the promotion will take. We're seeing some stuff being set up for Respect is Earned, and you're slowly building key charactes in the undercard regions, namely Trent Acid and TNA stars such as Chris Sabin. I'm not so familiar about this particular era in Ring of Honor's history, but I suppose Mick Foley coming in for a one off can't hurt their exposure. I'm gonna guess they have the right financials to support Mick's pay-per-appearance? It's creative, I'm just hoping we don't drift too far from the realm of possibility here.

Yeah from around 2004-2005 Mick Foley actually did quite a bit with the company in real life. He was brought in as just that, a guy to enhance the newer talents and bring eyes to the company like Eddie Guerrero did on their first show. I always liked Foley's mix into the company and I wanted to implement that with my show. I can say(without big spoilers) that no long term deal has been set for Foley, but he will be with my storylines for a short period of time going forward. Thank you again!

Very interested to see what your vision 2005 ROH as a TV product turns out. But, I do have to ask: is CM Punk not in it because of his real-life signing with WWE around this time or is there another reason?
Also, I like that you've brought Hero in a year early. He should be great as that smarmy, consistent heel that works well anywhere on the card.

May do a one off with him, but in the meantime he's just in a sort of limbo for the time being.

Couple of things: - I'm not sure I like the idea of ROH having TV, especially in early 2005 because TNA was on the verge of losing their national TV deal. - I like that you ran Nigel/Danielson, but at that point in 2005 it really wouldn't have been a 20:00 TV main event. Nigel was still an undercard guy (and really would be for like another year after this) while Danielson was still in the upper third of the card. - Low Ki is not shaking hands in 2005. He had turned heel with the Rottweilers when he returned in 2004 and had been a gigantic dickhead heel since then. It's maybe my single biggest issue with this sim. It doesn't make sense for where he was as a character at that point. - I really cannot overstate this: Foley should not be challenging for the World Title. Aries beating him doesn't give Aries the rub you think it does. He really should be in a special referee capacity or for a run-in or a segment, like how ROH actually used him in 2005. Having Aries, a massively undersized guy who's unknown to the majority of the people who would tune in to see Foley, pinning Mick Foley would be a disaster.
I like your writing and it's clear you've got some enthusiasm for this era of wrestling, but some of the decisions kind of take me out of this. I'll continue to read, though, I am at least curious to see where everything goes.
