I recently bought the basic sets in order to build Paul Bearer and Fink. This was my expertise with build a figures. Bearer snapped together perfectly but I can’t get Finks torso to attach to the head. Any suggestions? These were new in the package so there’s no damage.

Try heating up the head with a hair dryer for a minute or two and then try to put it on. Sometimes the holes are cut funny and don't fit into the peg properly unless heated up.

Did you try gently twisting the head onto the peg left to right? Sometimes that works

Just heat the head with a hairdryer for a minute.

Apparently my wife no longer owns a hairdryer. Any alternatives?

Drop it in a mug of hot water for a minute.
