The "sincere" thing is really simple to me at least. Promos that aren't 100% scripted all the time and smart booking. The promos make such a difference. All the extra stuff on BTE goes a long way in getting me invested in the characters too. They just do a better job of making me care about the matches, and everything feels far less forced.

AEW is really pulling me through this crazy depressing time. Tonight's show was no exception!

Things AEW is doing right:

1. Wrestlers as the audience. One of the reasons I can't make it through any of WWEs weekly shows these days is the shear...emptiness on TV. I never thought I'd miss an audience like this, but AEW got it right the first time!
2. Vignettes. OMG remember those videos to hype up a wrestler or a match? Everything was gold, from Jake in the opening to the back and forth with Hager and Mox. Everything but that weirdo Matt Hardy...
3. Old School References. Tonight we heard Jackie Crockett, Abdullah the Butcher, Bruiser Brody, Steamboat, Flair, and a few more I missed - these guys aren't afraid of honouring history!
4. Jericho on the mic. He is comedy gold, I laughed so hard knowing he had a genuine chuckle over Naka's Charlie brown baseball slide when he missed the flying double closeline haha. And his vendetta against Pineapple Pete!!!
5. Anna Jayy on my TV. my god this woman is beautiful. If she's in the arena now give her a match every damn week!
6. All flavours of wrestling. You get hard hitting matches like Shida/Baker or Cody/Spears, and you get crazy stuff like Omega & Naka/Best Friends. Entertainment all around!
7. Their Rankings list. Honestly it makes no sense at all how they are ranked, but man it feels like old school WCW Power Hour/PWI days! So keep ranking!

Honestly I think AEW should revisit their storylines and let them grow organically through this pandemic. I know we're sitting on the Elite vs Inner Circle at Blood & Guts, but with guys not being able to make TV like Page and Proud and Powerful, what's the point in dragging this out? Start making new feuds and storylines with people you have available. When this thing blows over and the rest of the roster comes back, then you have more to play with. Chis Daniels and SCU were such a thorn in the Dark Order's side, now those guys are stuck in LA (I assume) and Brody has no face foil to work with. Just start new stories.

Everything the other place does is over produced and I feel like I’m hit over the head with it. Gargano and Ciampa were big in my local indy (AAW) so I followed them in NXT. I bailed on their “epics” once they started over acting during their matches. Looking at your hands for 5 minutes and then screaming look at what you’re making me do and having Mauro scream the whole time, is the kind of stuff I don’t like in American wrestling.

AEW is new. It gets the advantage of being the cool new thing, but it feels better in my eyes because it’s more fun. The people who used to work for WWE have talked about how that place beat the love of wrestling out of them. It’s thrilling to see guys like Mox and Lee have the time of their lives on a big stage.

Vince doesn’t love wrestling. He always called it entertainment and that he makes movies every week. Tony Khan loves wrestling and it shows. It makes the product contagious and fun. If that excitement and genuine feeling are off putting to you, I’m really sorry man. I am.

I agree with all of this, i'm really glad AEW is putting in effort to keep their product going through these times, Jericho is a true genius, taking advantage of any situation he is in like the whole "i've banned fans from AEW shows until I say so" gimmick. It's things like that that make me smile, taking what is going on in the world and twisting it into a wrestling storyline. Can't help but laugh in the face of adversity.

I also laughed so hard at the charlie brown reference, also the shaking babies and kissing hands lol

Great overall show. I've never been a bigger fan of brodie lee than now, keep those promos coming!

Dumbasscus please just drop this stupid gimmick and move on, have Jericho smash your head in with a chair so hard you forget your "broken", delete your failed character and start fresh.

The problem with Broken Matt is that his bump card is punched. He can be a regular wrestler anymore, he NEEDS the goofy gimmick and the video "matches". As much as I don't care for what he's doing, it'd be brutal to watch him try to wrestle regularly as a singles guy.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him do his thing for a minute if there's a long term plan to pair him with someone and he's in a faction or tag team.
