I am going through and cataloging my figures, which range back to the Classic Superstar days through current, and am putting figures into different categories. Some are easy enough, like 'Original ECW' or 'Attitude Era', but some of the others are harder to me. Specifically some of the different eras of the 80s for WWF. I think I have settled on early 80s stuff (Muraco/Snuka/JYD - up through WMIII), then maybe the 'Golden' period from WM3 through about 1992, then finally the 'New Generation' that goes up to the Attitude Era.
I am just curious how others are dividing up their collections and displays.

Mine is mostly Attitude era. I group up all my Austin’s, Rocks, Takers, etc. I’ll mix Ruthless Aggression, a hand full of early 90s WWF wrestlers, WCWNWO figures. Only modern WWE figure I collect is Randy Orton.

I've got the Jakks from when I first got into wrestling (2002) and I purchased most Elites when I got back into it.
I've slowed down a lot and will probably only add Elites of guys who I followed on the indies and the AEW line.

I don’t divide them up because I don’t really display them. I just buy 1985-2000 wwf and wcw. I buy golden era wwf. Not so much new generation but I’ll get a few from that time. I love wcw figs a couple of years pre-hogan thru 2000. And I buy attitude era too. (My exception outlier is 70’s Superstar Billy Graham. He deserves respect for his contribution to sports entertainment)

Mostly Ruthless Aggression. Just picked up my RA era Jeff Hardy Elite today. But my collection is full of a lot of Jakks circa 03-06 and TNA mostly.

Most of my collection is the current day and age. I'm trying to branch out and get more RA/Attitude Era figures.

Im 22 so my most nostalgic period is 2007 to 2012-13. I collect RA through PG era mainly, but love all the classics. Not a huge fan of most current guys but a few will make it into the collection.

I have to say being 40.... My collection is from 1985-1996. I decided against WCW 1996-1998 because I have other collections.... Neca, Thundercats, He-Man, etc.

Mine are mostly just split by year on year and either wwf wcw or one lonely ecw shelf.

I’d say about 90% of my collection is from Golden Era to Attitude Era

I've been wrestling figure collecting for 35 years, so all eras of all companies are represented. My favorite era was 1985-1991

I started collecting in 2014. I have roughly 400 figures. I've been trying to display by year-ish. Some attires arent perfect, or are hybrid attires, or fit in multiple years (i try and place them with the year that has the least figs in this case). So its not perfect. I'm also terrible with attire/year history. Someone shared a google doc with a checklist that listed a lot of years, so that helped. But i really need to build a list of my own to keep track of as my displays are constantly growing.
The run from Bruno Samartino to Drew Gulak so... its a wide spread. Though my focus is 2001 and back.

I collect only golden era stuff. I have zero interest in anything past 1995ish

Basically 80s and 90s WWF/WCW/ECW figures, most all golden era, new generation and attitude era figures - basically any pre-WWE era figs. But like you, I have to pick up that Superstar Billy Graham, such a great figure. I would purchase more pre-1980s figures if Mattel would make them.

My collecting is dictated by fantasy booking, budget, and sentimental value. I have a few from each of the eras, but figures from when I first became a fan (05 through 08) are often sentimental for me. (a bit obvious but) I really enjoy figures of wrestlers we never thought we'd get that I like and figures depicting people from as early as WWE can recognize in wrestling history. At least if I respect the person cause I can't buy figures of people I know are terrible humans.

I started watching WWE in 1998 so not too much from before then interests me. I'll grab anything from then onwards though if it piques my interest.
Also, I only usually watched WWE and Original ECW, so I don't have much in the way of WCW, TNA, or any other promotions. The one exception is Daffney, as I loved her in WCW, despite very rarely watching the product. If I was skilled enough to make a WCW Daffney figure out of my TNA Daffney figure, I would.
