Watching some wwf from 1993 and Bastion Booger is on the show a lot and in theory that gimmick is a great idea on paper. A guy who is so gross and has such terrible hygiene it’s to his advantage cause guys struggle to wrestle him.
But then in retrospect when you see it, it’s fine for a lower on the card gimmick but guys like Razor, Bret Hart, Luger, and Taker just would have looked stupid for selling it.
What other gimmicks sounded great on paper but once they were actually out there working with other talent it just didn’t click?

Isaac Yankem. Kids and even adults have a fear of dentists, yet Yankem wasn't scary at all. Mainly cause he lost every match he was in.

I still believe The Goon would've been a solid mid card type in the character based Golden Era. Basically a White Bad News Brown is how I see it but the gimmick was too late and perhaps needed a name change. A hockey enforcer could work but just hearing The Goon kinda sounds ridiculous.

Tensai. It sounded good, his look was good, his wrestling was good. The fans chanting Albert every time when he was in the ring ruined it, it took away from the mystique of the character and eventually Vince pulled the plug on him being a serious character and he was landed with the crappy Sweet T gimmick.

Beaver Cleavage. I can see them looking at that and thinking "Wow, this'd be perfect for Lawler to screech over! Peak Attitude!"
And then, yeah...
Also, about the same time, GTV. I know they are sort of bringing this back, but I don't see how they could ever have made GTV into a valid, ring relevant gimmick. It served a purpose for what it was, and I can't remember exactly why it was canned, but in retrospect, I don't know how it ever could have been turned into an in-ring gimmick.
But, now that we have Moose The Hacker and his "Truth", we shall see it if works out for the reboot.

Every time I would hear the crowd sing along with the violins of Nakamura's theme, I thought of Fandango. |

It was also kind of weird how well Sean O Haire did with that gimmick, since he was never known as a promo guy. I think they played of his strengths really well. His semi-monotone delivery came off as genuine. If you mix that with pre-recording his promos, it was a mixture for success. Also his script was very unique every single time, I think his wall was the Roddy Piper stuff. Oh well, what could have been with him. |

I think Public Enemy in the WWE could have really worked had they not come in with big heads.

TL Hopper, Duke Droese, garbageman and a plumber, ribbing on 2 of Dusty Rhodes vignettes. 2 talented enough guys doing the gimmicks but they fell flat with crowd reaction
the 90's they were trying anything that could stick, Waylon Mercy was one of the better ones but his injures derailed him

Salvatore Sincere had a decent worker doing the gimmick. It was the Italian version of Razor Ramon. I was a huge fan of Salvatore as a kid. Pairing him with Jim Cornette, I thought we would see big things but I think it only lasted a few times, if not only once, and actually Jim was on his last legs as a manager with WWF and really managers in generally were being phased out. I think Paul Bearer was so unique he didn't qualify as just a manager. I don't recall Salvatore doing anything until the Marc Mero Raw a year later and again, I thought we would see big things but they wouldn't come about. I know Tom is an enhancement guy and I got to spend a little time with him at a few indy shows and he's got the personality to win over a crowd with the right gimmick but as a fan I thought it sucked WWF would give him something and just as quickly take it away. |

- Looks good on paper, and looked good in person... But his booking killed the character. If he was kept looking strong, he could have been a great monster heel for a few years.
Also, had he debuted (returned) a year later in 2013, he could have been a WWE Champion. I think the timing was a bit bad since this was Punk's long title reign.
Adam Rose
- I actually think this gimmick would have worked if booked right. i'll always prefer Leo Kruger over this any day, but if they worked Rose where he was a fun party guy but a serious threat in the ring, he could have picked up some steam on the main roster.
What would have been cool, is if he was doing his Rose character in the ring, but would sometimes express those old Leo Kruger traits. That way he could have fallen back onto the Kruger gimmick if Rose was getting stale, have him constantly show more Kruger traits before eventually snapping and reverting back (Instead of just being a heel Adam Rose).

King Barrett
- A snobby, British King... Barrett could have made it work so well if they did more with it.
If they booked it similar to how they have Corbin, Barrett would have thrived in this role. It's a shame he never got that Main Event shot after Nexus... Late 2011, 2015 & 2016 were perfect times to work him into the Main Event. Yes, injuries did play a part in it, but i think given the chance, he could have had a good run as a top guy.
League of Nations
- We all wanted it for years, and the idea is good on paper, but it was done so poorly.
It should have been Barrett, Sheamus, Cesaro & Rusev, with either Regal or Finlay managing them.
