Well I once read that Kirchner and Outback Jack were both scheduled for a major push, that ultimately never happened. Also the Kirchner figure appeared at the height of the Rambo/G.I. Joe craze... Also kirchner and jack were more toyetic than bravo. He wouldn't just been a dude in trunks. A jacked up guy with bleached blonde hair wearing those blue & white forearm covers with the French symbols....incredibly toyetic IMO. |

Your release timing is spot on. Fuji dec 1986. Mean Gene August 86. Blue referee first... late summer 87. Johnny V mid 87. Vince late 1987. Butch Reed is the most obvious omission from that time ... and defeated Outback in Jack’s first match late 86 It's strange how LJN released guys here and there and I google imaged the 1988 series, which led me to a photo on this board with the catalog/wrestling ring ad and the 1988 series was released in two batches, according the timeline. I think Dino just always suffered from the timing of the companies that made the figures. LJN was in it's last years and only made the bigger stars while Hasbro was just starting and they too just made the bigger stars. Do you know of Slick being one of those from the '88 wave who actually came out earlier? He's another guy, like Valiant, who I feel like came out before '88 from my own personal experience. |

I forgot about Slick. He also had the art poster and not live action poster. It was disappointing the 1988 guys didn't make it on a cardback like the previous series. LJN reused the 1987 cardback. |

It’s too bad Dino’s wife doesn’t want to give Mattel rights to make a figure of his. He's also probably on the WWE's "no" list. They've always been weird about him and Adrian Adonis. Like Hercules I get, he left on bad terms and his wife spoke out against the WWE after the Benoit tragedy...but what's the deal with Adonis? He didn't leave on particularly bad terms, he's a memorable character. Adonis is the most famous queer-bait character other than Goldust. Either some weird holdup by WWE because of that or something with his rights is the most likely reason. The rumor and innuendo about Bravo is that his rights are tricky because of his mob ties. Or just that WWE don’t want to get near anyone mob-related |

I would think the mob would be in fear of WWE and not the other way around.
It's sad to say but I think Adrian is largely forgotten and maybe Jakks would have thought he would be a shelf warmer figure. Same for Hercules. I don't think Adrian sold very well in his LJN run but I could be wrong.

Basically just a matter of timing. His push came at the end of the LJN line and right before the Hasbro line. He doesn't fit in with either of the last LJN/GT waves and he certainly doesn't fit in with the upper card exclusive first few waves of the Hasbro line. They really didn't start to mix in lower card talent until Hasbro series 3 and by then he hadn't been on TV in forever and was almost on his way out of the company. When I look at both lines a lot of low level talents got figures. Even his manager, Jimmy Hart got a figure at one point. |
