Let's say Hollywood comes to you and says they want to build to a Super Smash Bros movie. They want to copy the Marvel Formula and build to it with individual movies. They task you with casting those movies! They MUST be live action! Who would you cast in the roles? What roles would you have in the movies? Who would you get to direct them?
The movies Hollywood wants to make are: Super Mario Bros. Movie Legend of Zelda Movie Metroid Movie StarFox Movie Super Smash Bros. Movie
What characters are in each movie? Who plays who in each movie? Who directs each movie?

This is something I would have 0 interest in. I'm already sick of the MCU and extended universe franchises.
I will say however, they would all have to be animated and there shouldn't be much of a focus on who voices who. The characters should be treated as the stars, with little importance on big name voice acting.
I'd also be in favor of eliminating the toy narrative and master hand and make Ganondorf the big bad. Maybe in a team up with Ridley. Bowser would have to have a Mario RPG style babyface turn.

Nintendo already tried a live action Super Mario Bros movie and it sucked. Video Games don't transition well into movies.

It's campy, has a cult following, and it's like M and L were on Mushroom Kingdom's finest and I didn't even have to do it myself. I also liked Rock's Doom movie (I know it sucked, but I liked it), and the new Doom movie on Netflix.

Total Recall, Mortal Kombat, and Double Dragons weren't bad either

I’d want Sylvester Stallone to play Mario.

You have to lean into the absurdity just the right amount. Mortal Kombat was very effective as B-movie camp and ridiculousness. The sequel tries to be too serious or something and ends up in the "just bad" territory. In the reboot thread a lot cry for a Resident Evil movie reboot. Unless it's made in the same vain as RE4, I don't think it can work.

EarthBound directed by David Lynch. Best possible answer. Also Metroid by Cronenberg.

I couldn’t make it work because each movie would be styled differently. Super Mario Bros. would be 3D animated, The Legend of Zelda would be an anime, Metroid would be live action, and Star Fox would be stop motion.

That was kinda the point of them HAVING to be live action. As like a fun little game, try to make the best out of a bad scenario that Hollywood has put you in. No one clearly wants to play along though. haha

After years of being a Wes Anderson fan I'm scared to think that I'm finally getting tired of his whimsical shtick. God bless The Life Aquatic though.

We both loved The Grand Budapest Hotel though.

Wouldnt care for this, not a smash brothers guy.
But I wish they'd take this approach with mortal kombat.
