Editing him off of Raw though is odd. That clip on Rollins cashing in at WM 31 was bizarre. Not really. If WWE starts treating him like the anti-hero, then they might as well print money when he gets back because the fans LOVE anti-heroes. "Why are they giving him the Benoit-treatment?! This guy had leukemia! Vince is so evil!" haha it's great marketing strategy even for WWE... maybe I'm giving them too much credit for thinking this way. Trying to trick the fans into cheering Roman hasn't worked for them. It feels really unnecessary to edit out Roman like that. It makes it seem like he did something heinous.

Didn't they try the anti-hero thing in 2015 with Reigns constantly fighting off Trips and the authority that culminated at Mania 32, then again in 2018 with Brock being Vince's b*tch, then again in 2019 when Vince abandoned his role in Kofi's story and joined up with Shane after Roman was drafted to Smackdown? sure all true, but did they ever Benoit-ed someone before? It feels really unnecessary to edit out Roman like that. It makes it seem like he did something heinous.

It would be great (and hilarious) if it were true, but Vince Hates Roman Now is just a conspiracy that exists solely inside smark heads. WWE aired a Roman Reigns special on FS1 last night, and uploaded two Roman Reigns matches from Money in the Bank PPVs to YouTube in the last couple of days. I think it stems from people really wanting to cheer Roman, but they need to convince themselves that Vince hates him first. 😂

I don't dispute that Vince could be miffed right now over his big #1 star "missing his shots", and a conscious effort to exclude mentions can be taking place. But I never believed that Roman's long-term position would be affected by his choice, and this blackballing is some effort to curry favor from the fans. I would venture to guess the most of Roman's support in 2019 can be attributed to keeping him away from a World Title. Once he'd be back on top and holding the championship and fighting off Vince or whomever would be the authoritative bad guy, the heat would return no matter what. I will say if this a sign he's coming back heel, that'd be something I support. Been pushing this for a while, an extended absence is the perfect opportunity. They piddled away the chance for a slow turn last year. This year on down the road (because there is no reported hint on Roman coming back with this stuff), have him return and attack a babyface and embrace the cocky, smarmy heel he has showcased numerous times in his career. Hell, might be the best move they've ever done for him, as their biggest stars have gained massive crowd support out of a heel persona.
