What are some figures you regretted buying, asking for, trading, for otherwise getting...and why? While I think we can say it's safe to assume we all regretted buying certain figures within a year or later, so let's limit it to immediate or less than 3 months after you bought it.
For me it would be:
-Signature Series 5 Austin & Road Dogg: It was my 3rd austin and I should've realized "End of the Line" = stop buying figures that are going to be antiquated
-Camo Carnage Chyna: I just wanted/needed a Chyna badly and I was immediately disappointed when she was bigger than the rest of my figures...but I was 8 or 9 so I didn't know that was going to happen when I bought the figure:
-Signature Series 6 Holly, HHH, Austin, Vince - I got these in February 2000 WAY after TTL's had been out and only because they were like $2.99 at target.
-Trash Talking Superstars Big Show and The Rock - similar issue with Camo Carnage Chyna. They were $10 a piece, didnt have good articulation and jus sucked.
-Raw Heat Austin: I got this because my mom called me from Target and I thought it was a version with a hat. This was in the days before picture phones, otherwise I wouldn't have ever gotten it
-Smackdown Series 1 HHH: I honestly don't know why I wanted this so badly since HHH hadn't worn pants in 8 months. I got Smackdown Series 2 in trunks only like a month later.
-TTL 3 The Rock: I just thought the shirt was cool
-ROTR 1 Ivory, Off the Ropes Trish, AD 2 Stacey, AD 4 Torrie Wilson; HOP Tori, and every diva figure besides TTL 3 Chyna and the mail away Lita - I think I just wanted new characters but I like didn't even use my diva figures
-Rebellion 2 Jericho: At the time it was my first real scan, with elbow joints, in trunks Jericho...but within a few weeks or months I realized it kinda of sucked
-Rebellion 2 Rock/benoit: Legit didn't need them or want them but they were like buy one get one free or something at Target and they were the only ones I didn't own
-The TRU Signature 6 pack with belt and ring and 6 figures and accessories. I literally had my aunt buy me a $50 set with thing I already had just to get the cloth accessories and 5 new headscans. Angle, Rock, Undertaker, and Austin were completely worthless. Jericho was the only figure I actually used.
-TTL 9 HHH: No idea why I bought this figure. Maybe for the head scan
-House of Pain Austin: I know I got him because it was a real scan austin. But I should've held out for the Ringside Chaos version in the shirt he actually wore
-R3-2 Edge: This figure was way too thin and too hard to play with.
-R3-5 RVD: R3's were done weeks afterwards, figure was too small to play with anything else
-R3-5 Jeff Hardy: Just wanted a Jeff to match my R3-1 Matt. Same issues as RVD.
-RA 1 Cena: I'd seen him wrestle single digit times. Didn't need him, just wanted RA's. Originally I listed Chavo here, but I forgot I needed him for Los Guerreros to team with Eddie.
-RA 2 Noble, Kidman, Rico: I knew kidman from WCW, but the other guys I definitely didn't need...I just wanted RA's
-Raw X Lawler, Kmart Box set JR + earl hebner: I get that I wanted a ref and commentators, but seriously who needs figures you're not actually going to use to wrestle. Lawler was like $11 with tax which was a lot back in the day
-Superstars Uncovered 2 Angle: Needed/wanted a bald Kurt. I found the Ad 3 2-pack with Brock (which came with the 1st time undisputed title belt) 3 weeks after.
-Bring the Noise Undertaker: I desperately needed an updated ring gear Undertaker and didn't want to get anything but the best one...Should've waited 2 months to get the SS 03 one which had gloves hands, molded singlet, and a removable shirt.
-RA 4 Goldberg - I traded for this and less than a week later found Bad Blood in stores.
-RA 7 Jericho, RA 9 Christian, RA 10 Edge - was just desperate for an RA version of these guys. I had ring gear versions within a month or 2 of getting these, only for them to never be used again.
-RA 8 Ultimo Dragon, RA 9 Matt Morgan, Far East Box Set - see comment on just getting new wrestlers I'd only seen wrestle a handful of times.
-AD 2 Stamboli/Chavo - I really wanted Stamboli and don't know why since I'd never seen him wrestle. I also already had RA 1 Chavo.
-AD 8 Victoria/Richards - not sure why I got this. I seldom used diva figures, Richards wasn't really ever on TV.
-Bad Blood Edge - desperately needed an RA ring gear edge. I finally get it...and the next day they announced/showed Summerslam 04 Edge which was like the holy grail of perfectness to me at the time.
-AD 11 Paul London - same reason as other smackdown jobbers. I traded/sold this figure probably within a month of owning it.
-CS 1: Undertaker, Andre, Ultimate Warrior - I actually used the other guys from series 1 but honestly don't know why I wanted these other than because they were new and I was a completist back then.
-CS 2: Big John Studd, Dude Love, George the animal steel - Same as CS 1. I'm glad I realized I didn't need to buy guys I didn't like or have a use for before that got out of hand.
I could go on and on. But man in hindsight do I wish I had been a little bit more conservative with collecting. I eventually sold/traded most of my stuff and only gave away like 10 or so early TTL's and BCA's to a friends little brother. But it always felt like I had too many figures and not enough figures I could actually use.
