Interesting. Sounds like it may be similar to the Flair situation. I wonder if WWE is low-balling Legends when re-negotiating merch deals. Or if there could be a better offer on the table from a competitor. Because usually re-upping these deals would be a piece of cake. Considering WWE just axed 40% of their employees this wouldn't be too surprising, or they're not attempting to resign legend deal at all right now. I immediately chalked it up to Covid related, I’m sure they aren’t doing paperwork etc while this is going on.

I will say stings lack of inclusion is weird but i don't think it has to do with his contract.
WWE literally (days ago) just realized male leggings in the design of his green scorpion tights. I'd buy it if i was a surfer sting cosplayer instead of an AJ styles one.

Oh man, I’m really looking forward to Jake the Snake. I hope he doesn’t get canceled too! This new legends series is off to a rough start.

Sucks about Sting, but it's good to have a finite answer as to whether or not he's coming from a dependable source (Steve's Insta).

Wrestling Figure News Source says Stings been removed from the line up and not available to Mattel. Might as well assume Jake Roberts is cancelled too unless he has a legends deal with a loophole that's allowing him to work AEW too. Sting lost his pen. I did support this effort. That said, I don't think it was handled well. They never went up on Sunday. Sting figure was cancelled. Powers that be could've been a little more upfront about that. None of us had any inkling that Sting wasn't getting released in this wave. This is constructive criticism. If you're going to pick a date to launch the pre-orders, make that date. Be more transparent if one of the figures is getting cancelled. I don't think that's unfair to say.

Preordered Valentine. Shame to hear about Sting, guess my dream of a UE Surfer Sting is dead.

Legends deals pay a small up front advance paid against a percentage of merch revenue. There is virtually no "cost" to WWE, while these guys are big merch sellers. It's not like active talent who are being paid a downside guarantee even if there is no work. Flair had a known beef over "The Man" trademark. But Sting not being signed is shocking, imo.

Ugh not totally their fault, but never a good sign when the return of the series has figure issues from the start. Not just figure issues. The anchor talent. It's out of Mattel's control, but I really hope this doesn't become an issue for sales of this wave. What's the case configuration now? 6 figures with 2 each? Double pack Razor i 4 figure cases?

Oh I know. And I know there's circumstances like the Hall of Fame series where Cactus Jack was announced and produced and cancelled. And I remember that series I was able to only order Ted DiBiase & Jimmy Hart and not the whole series.
Just basing it off that and that these were thrown up late I just didn't want people jumping to a dramatic conclusion (that turned out to be true) because I've seen things in the past spread like wildfire here based off of knee-jerk reactions and just random thoughts people had.
I deleted my post since he posted it true on Instagram, but you were quick to quote me.
lol i was. im glad you acknowledge your deletion. haha. but yea i remember the Foley crisis...

Got my order in and didn’t need to panic, complain and criticize in order to get them. Talked myself into getting Heenan. Didn’t really want him, but I wanna support this line as much as possible... and I’d be kicking myself later if I allowed myself to pay inflated prices down the road. Thanks Steve & OP!

Oh man, I’m really looking forward to Jake the Snake. I hope he doesn’t get canceled too! This new legends series is off to a rough start. Jake's a completely different situation. While I'm not saying it won't be cancelled given how fickle WWE is, I'm not ready to write it off. Jake's role in AEW was known when the figure was shown, and Steve said WWE had given the green light. Canning the Sting figure seems more like them playing hardball with contract negotiations.

Wonder why AFA couldn’t say anything in his thread like an FYI. He works for a big corporation. His hands might've been tied or he might not have been legally allowed to speak about the Sting situation as it could be a recent development.

That’s a big hit losing Sting so far in production. Could totally effect how the line goes without a big name like him to anchor it. Really don’t wanna see another Tito Santana situation here ..

Idk it just seem WWE is trying to save money where ever they can. WWE is still suppose to have a really good year even with all that's going on, and they cut 40% of their staff when they really didn't have to.
