Have any of you encountered figure "retailers" who will buy a mass quantity of MOC Elites that are worth about $30 and try to charge $70-$100 for them? It honestly sucks sometimes because people take advantage of it and will do that. For instance, when the SDCC Slim Jim Randy Savage came out, people would buy multiples and sell them for five times the normal price. I know it happens often, but what are your thoughts on that? I think when they come out with exclusives like that or some RSC Exclusives, you should be limited to only one or two

You mean scalpers? Cause that’s what they do.

Yeah I've encountered them before and I refuse to deal with them. It really does suck because these people usually put in the most effort into finding the rarer figures and there's nothing left for the casual fan.
As far as I am aware there are no laws against this yet but maybe that could change in the future who knows. It sure was nice to see companies step up against scalpers who were trying to sell hand sanitizer and toilet paper though. Too bad wrestling figures aren't that high up the priority list lol.

Slim Jim macho man was limited to 1 per customer. The legends pre-orders were limited to two orders per figure

Slim Jim macho man was limited to 1 per customer. The legends pre-orders were limited to two orders per figure The second wave of Slim Jim Macho were 1 per person. I think when the initial pre-sale orders were capped at 7 or 10. There were a lot of people who bought the max and then were posting them at 2-3 times cost when the pre-sale sold out in less than an hour.

I've noticed two or three online retailers that some how ordered cases of the "exclusive" Jim Neidhart and not charging too much. I wish this would have been the case for Monsoon. I could stomach $30.

I’ll help anyone out that I can as far as current stuff. These guys that try and scalp currently available stuff are the lowest of the low.
I can totally understand something that’s no longer produced or a figure that’s a few years old and sought after, but stuff like a few series old or so ... there’s no sense in that ... help out your fellow collectors, man 💯

I have never seen anything but the utmost in honor and integrity in the toy collecting community.
I am both shocked and appalled at the accusations levied here.
Further research on the matter seems a necessity now.

The biggest way to combat them is to simply not buy from them, if they can’t sell it they won’t buy it. But then people in here give me the don’t tell me what to do with my money I’ll buy what I was bs.

No WalMart and Target prices are the same. Now the secondary market seller (scalper) prices have always been out of hand. But judging from the prices of the online secondary market sellers on Amazon/WalMart/Target they are trying to take full advantage of people during the pandemic. But seeing I don’t buy off the secondary market it’s not an issue for me.

I saw E74 Goldberg on a different site for $90 and I just laughed my ass off. I bought it for $16 three months ago

These secondary market guys are ridiculous. I was bored enough to look around for an Elite Ciampa figure last week and saw a few listed at 100+. Maybe it's just me but mass produced wrestling figures released in less than a 5 year window should never have a price jump that high.

I have noticed more people ordering full cases. I've seen scalpers go from having a figure or two here to bow having multiples of cases. I haven't seen anything outlandish like that but I have seen them going up from the retail $30 to around $40 per figure. This is Facebook stuff I'm citing.

I understand what you're saying, but ultimately its not the scalpers fault. And I absolutely loathe scalpers. You have to put the blame on the people who continue to pay those prices. If no one buys at those prices, more often than not, those prices would get lower and lower. So moral? You can get mad at scalpers for wiping the shelves, but don't be mad that they are selling it at those prices. Because people will buy, just is what it is.

Agreed.. however I'm not mad nor will I ever pay those prices for a mattel figure.

As long as people buy their stuff they will continue to price it high. Simple as that. Don't blame the 47 yo man who waits for Target to open on new case day and buys the entire stock. Blame the 26 yo man who can afford to buy it from the 47 yo man.
