In the 1970's John Carpenter was known mostly for his screenwriting and less for his directing. He got to show his craft behind the camera only a handful of times throughout the decade with small budget films make little to no returns. That all changed in 1978 with the release of Halloween. The hit paved the way for an incredible output of 8 films in the 80's. So wrestlingfigs...what is your favorite film by John Carpenter in the 80's?

Without a doubt hard choices, but, my favorite movie of all time is "Escape From New York" with "The Thing" being a very close second. You don't get any better scary movie than "The Thing". "They Live" is third, "Big Trouble in Little China" is fourth. As much of a Carpenter fan that I am, I've never seen "The Fog"! I really have to see that one.

I didn't even need to look at the options. Just click The Thing.

The Thing by far. "Nobody trusts anybody now and we're all very tired."

It's easily "Prince of Darkness" for me. The mix of science and theology is done so convincingly and IIRC Alice Cooper makes a cameo. "The Thing" and "They Live" are also good choices as both are classics.

@ham the whole reason these polls came about was from a conversation I had with a friend about Scorsese in the 80s and how the general film fan had not heard or seen of those films minus Raging Bull. The polls were to remind people either what the person did beyond the hits or just how dominate they were during that time.
I post these polls across three different sites. For this one I thought surely the forum about wrestling figures would vote They Live. Thank you for surprising me.

Escape from New York all day!, i've watched that movie countless times and it's always a classic. Plenty of action with memorable characters, you can't go wrong with Snake.. "You're.. the Duke.. A NUMBER 1!"
Also props to: The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Christine & They Live
Watched: the Fog one time a while ago but couldn't get into that one..

The Thing!
The monsters were so creative looking. The movies was very clever as to how the monsters still kept the personality of the human hosts.

Christine and the Thing are a tie for me. If we go Carpenter from any decade, It's Halloween for sure.

It's The Thing. No-brainer for me. I enjoy all of his movies for one reason or another, but The Thing is his storytelling peak. It's a haunting movie that has stuck with me since I first saw it.
Side story, I got to watch an original 35mm pressing at Dismember the Alamo last year (for like my 5th time) and it did not disappoint.
