In 5th grade I was the only pro wrestling fan, as well as the only open action figure enthusiast in my grade. So one day, my friend came up to me saying that someone gave him a Classic Superstars figure for his birthday, and he wanted to give me it since he didn't want it. Knowing that Series 15 just dropped with that awesome HBK, I was like yeah oh ofcourse!
Now comes Friday where he brings in his CS figure that he was telling me about...it ended up being a Tank Abbott. Even in 5th grade, I knew for a fact I did NOT need this figure, but it was free so what the hell. But this is where it goes south for me... My parents saw this good deed by my friend and decided they wanted to repay him. So they went out to Toys R Us on Saturday and purchased a DELUXE CLASSIC LEX LUGER. Them not knowing how these figures were NOT on an even playing field for a trade, I was like WOAH what are you doing?! In the end, they ended up giving it to him much to my chagrin, and he ended up not really caring about it in the long run.
Anyone else have weird stories like this growing up?
P.S: I still have this Tank Abbott on my shelf.
