WWE’s considers Samoa Joe’s run as an in ring performer over for now. He is currently considered a permanent announcer. Those back to back concussions were no joke.

I'd love to know when his contract is up. He's nowhere near where he was in his prime, but it'd be a shame for him to go out like this.

He kinda feels like this generation’s Taz. Good career pre-WWE, came into WWE hot, sidelined by injuries, transitioned into a good announcer. Joe probably does have more in the tank but I like him announcing. Way better than Lawler at this point.

He may not have had his wrestling send off the way he wanted, but the opportunity to transition into color I think is great for him. He’s good at it and will most likely lead to a second career as a mainstay commentator, same way it did for Taz.

I don't care for him on commentary

The guy did get hurt a lot in his time in Wwe, almost felt like his body was breaking down on him.

Shame he never got the big one there, but I do like him on commentary. Sounds like it means Lawler won't really be around anymore, and I'm quite alright making that trade.

See I didn't hear that they're considering his in ring run over. I heard, that yeah, he's to replace King on commentary, but if/when he's medically cleared to be able to wrestle, they'll still have him wrestle, but still be part of the commentary team.

If this is it for Joe's WWE wrestling career he did pretty well for himself. Two NXT Title reigns, two WWE US Title reigns. Nothing to sneeze at! Sure, it may not be as many wins or title reigns as his TNA run, but he was also there for like 10 years and was younger then.

I'm torn on this. I love his in ring work and if he's healthy, would love to see him back in the ring.
On the other hand, I think he's good on commentary, and the less Lawler, the better.

I'm crushed if this is the end of his in-ring career. Probably top-5 all time for me. His ROH title reign is my favourite title run. See I didn't hear that they're considering his in ring run over. I heard, that yeah, he's to replace King on commentary, but if/when he's medically cleared to be able to wrestle, they'll still have him wrestle, but still be part of the commentary team. Now I want him to wrestle matches while wearing a headset and commentating during it.

I’ve said it a million times, but it’s a major disappointment the larger audience didn’t get to see both aj and Samoa joe in their primes. AJ still holds up and perhaps being a smaller performer has made him endure the mileage, but those guys were changing the business from 2002 on
I remember watching CM Punk vs Samoa Joe’s three match rivalry and thinking how the hell have WWE not been all over these guys yet?

I can’t imagine him not returning to the ring if he gets clearance at some point. Being permanent on the announce team could mean anything. Vic Joseph, Dio Madden, and Lawler were permanent at one time. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I highly doubt Joe's done completely. Read this morning that if he gets cleared, they go from there. But regardless, I think Joe is great on commentary and it's much better than listening to Lawler making 20 year old jokes.

I wonder if he'll be ringing his old mentor for some pointers.

His WWE run hasn't been that great in all honesty. He's not had many stand out matches, but I kinda do wish he won the big one. Its fair to say the chances of that happening now are pretty slim. If he ever does return in ring he'll be used to put over younger guys and not much more I'd guess.

I love Joe as an announcer, but it will be a shame if he's done as a full time ring performer.
