Really good show.
I like cinematic matches that still feel like a real fight. No goofy stuff, just a fight. This was prefect.
Glad Io finally won the title. Right match to main event.
Lee vs Gargano was great, but that's no surprise.
Priest vs Finn was really good too. That bump on the steps was nasty.
The women's 6 person tag was sloppy but fun. Love Tegan Nox.
The call backs to the 90's was awesome. Regal trying his best Lord Alfred Hayes impersonation.

I enjoyed that PPV quite a bit. I like them condensed and short

Name a female talent on the roster that is overall better than Charlotte. Someone as athletic, decent on the mic and can tell a story each and every time. I guess that’s wrestling, ask ten different people get ten different answers. I personally think that Asuka is the greatest female wrestler of all time. Charlotte is probably top 3 top 5, but Asuka’s body of work is pretty amazing.

I wish Io would have pinned Charlotte, but WWE can't help but protect Charlotte. It’s not WWE protecting Charlotte. It’s a wrestling strategy. You don’t have a developmental talent pin/submit a main roster talent. How do you take Charlotte (or anyone) seriously immediately after being defeated by a lower tier talent? One of the reasons NXT call-ups should be a few weeks/months apart. If Ciampa is getting called up, it better not be until after SummerSlam. Let the anticipation build of “what’s next?” Sure, WWE still considers NXT as developmental, but Io has been wrestling far longer than Charlotte so you can't really call her a developmental talent. Is Charlotte good? Yes, but Io has been and will always be a better wrestler than Charlotte.

Rhea's taking the pin to Io and Io goes on to win the NXT Women's Championship Belt. Called it.

So stoked that Io Shirai won. Now move Kairi to Smackdown and have her beat Bayley.

So happy Io won. Charlotte is a great worker and decent enough on the mic, definitely one of the strongest in the company, but Io still eclipses her in talent. She is only ok with English but she doesn't need to say a lot to get her point across and tell a story. Rhea is so young she has tons of time. Hope we get Io and Candace again in the near future. Two best females in NXT and they tore it up their last match. I think Candace is the only one that can actually keep up with Io when she goes like she can. Needless to say Io is my favorite in the company haha.
Solid card overall. First time in a while I've batted 100% on predictions. Outside of the main event I think priest balor was the next best of the night.
Good god I loved the in your house throwback. Took me right back to being a kid again.

Yes, but Io has been and will always be a better wrestler than Charlotte. One thing people often forget about NXT, is that it's not only a place to develop new talent, but a place to develop established talent as well. A lot of established talent are signed to NXT because WWE is a completely different environment to other promotions around the world, and they need to be developed to learn & work the WWE style. You could have a 10 year veteran who's wrestled all around the world, and is a better wrestler than half the roster... But when they get to WWE, they could struggle to work that style, which is why they're down there - to develop that. Of course it's also to introduce/re-introduce them to that big mainstream audience, but developing them to properly work the WWE style is a large part often forgotten. I recall back around when Balor signed, there was a video documenting him & others, with one of the coaches saying that he was quickly learning the different style they work in WWE - With the pacing, hard cam & cameramen etc... So even though Io's been wrestling longer, and could definitely be a better wrestler than Charlotte, she's still technically a developmental talent. Especially going from the Japanese style to the WWE style.

Tonight's show didn't interest me that much. I watched it but I wasn't invested in it like I am usually for NXT TakeOver shows. The In Your House theme was cool, the music they used was awesome, just like the old 1990s videos for WWE, seeing Todd there was great, the jokes were on point, but the matches just didn't do it for me tonight. I am glad that others enjoyed it, but I don't know, to me something just was off.

But, that’s beside the point completely. She’s an absolute animal workhorse, and her talent is undeniable. I’d love to see another WWE women’s wrestler handle being shoved back to NXT, egos would get in the way (Sasha Banks, or even Bayley). Charlotte is the number 1 all around performer in the woman’s division, and you cannot take that away from her whatsoever

Solid NXT TakeOver, loved all the retro nostalgia, great to see that house set again. I hope In Your House becomes a yearly TakeOver.
By far the best moment was Io Shirai as the new NXT Women's Champion! Charlotte's reign was definitely fresh and interesting seeing her back in NXT after all these years, but Io really deserved to shine. Great moment, all things considered.

There's a big difference between wrestler, worker, and performer.
