DDP was red hot around 1996 to 1998. He had great feuds with Randy Savage and Raven. I'll never forget his classic match with Bill Goldberg at Halloween Havoc. The guy has done it all from commentator, manager, pro wrestler, movie star, motivational speaker and yoga trainer. I have read many stories about him trying to help other wrestlers in the business. I can't help but feel that WWE dropped the ball on him and he still could have been a top guy in 2001. It's the same old story for most of the WCW wrestlers.

Getting killed by the Undertaker certainly did him no favors, but his age played a big part in him not having much success in the WWF. He was 46 when he got there. Thats certainly much older than anyone else on the roster.

For what it’s worth he did win the tag team and European title within that year he was in wwe. He beat Christian at wrestlemania 18 in Christian’s hometown! The “that’s not a bad thing, that’s a good thing” was a great catchphrase. But yeah people sadly only remember the Undertaker feud and him actually losing to Sara.
I agree he did have a great run in wcw from 96-00 and I don’t think it’s because he was Bischoff’s friend! He worked hard for it.

I think DDP is pretty lucky to have the one year with the WWE that he had. He did a lot in that year as mentioned above. I honestly think DDP went there to knock things off his bucket list. He was lucky to win not just the Tag Titles but the European Title, he got to compete at King of the Ring, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania and he had a feud with the Undertaker. That's not a bad year to have in the WWE.

Like the time the DDP and the other wcw guys ambushed Taker in the parking lot and DDP was calling him a nothing? There was also the one time DDP and Kanyon put a beat down on Kane and Undertaker before the summerslam match.

Who knows how over DDP wouldve gotten if he had the RKO Outta Nowhere meme Randy Orton had. He really was pulling the Diamond Cutter out of any position.

I never liked him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know he does yoga & helps people now. I just never liked most of the wrestlers who hailed from New Jersey. They just have that "douche factor" that helps them get over. And I heard from more than a handful of wrestlers that DDP & Bischoff used to wife-swap. That helped in his push.

Vince wasn't going to let ANYONE from WCW get over. It still irks me that he wasn't at least in that Survivor Series 5 vs 5 match.

That pop on his Debut was still epic minus to what follow up. I remember that night and seeing the shock factor because it was least expected.

DDP was the main reason I watched WCW back then and I completely agree WWE dropped the ball with him.

I just think the WCW guys should have been equal to the superstars in WWE. Vince McMahon had nothing to lose because he owns WCW. He allowed his ego to get in the way. WWE could still win and the WCW guys would come out of it looking good.
