I was same,. But maybe there’s a chance now that series 8 is being rushed Series 8 is being rushed? This is what he said I'm incredibly excited about the Legends line and preordered all three, but I'm really concerned about how well that line is going to move in stores without a top name like Sting as an anchor. Does Mattel and/or Target take something like that into account when going forward with the next wave? I guess I'm just afraid of another Tito Santana situation that could cause the Legends line to end before it even gets going again. We’ve taken precautions to avoid another Tito situation, one of them being a follow up wave following fairly quickly after Series 7 hits.

Can someone explain the tito situation to me? Tito is the worst shelf warming figure ever. I can still find multiples of him at 3 different Targets near me

Just give me a bunch of Hogans and I'll be happy.
Series 9: Hulk Hogan - Hasbro #1 look, with the helmet he wore a few times around 89 Sgt. Slaughter - Iraqi with belt, towel thingy - would be awesome if he came with the Hulk Rules shirt that he set on fire. Kona Crush Ted Dibiase - Black suit Ted Dibiase chase - Green suit
Series 10: Hulk Hogan - Wrestlemania 7 Texas Tornado - Red like the Hasbro Harley Race - here's their chance to get him out there Virgil - Purple pants (or where they red?) from when he turned on Ted - with million $ belt Virgil chase - Red and white stripes - with million $ belt
Series 11: Macho Man - Tuesday in Texas Dusty Rhodes - Red with yellow polka dots Mr. Fuji - Black tux Hercules - Black trunks Hercules chase - Blue trunks
Series 12: Hulk Hogan - Wrestlemania 4 with white boots Brother Love - with white microphone and stand Bruno Sammartino - 80's with older look Mr. Perfect - Green Mr. Perfect chase - Yellow

Can someone explain the tito situation to me? Tito was possibly the worst peg warmer of the line. Stores my me still had 5-10 of the figure a year + after its release. The explanation from Mattel was that Tito had sold well initially, along with the other figures in the line including Hogan. Target ordered more figures, but the next wave wasn't read to go yet. So they re-printed more of HOF2, but this was at the same time the Hogan tape came out and he was pulled from second production. That led to Tito arbitrarily being double packed to make up for the missing Hogan. The end result was an absolute mess that fudged up distribution of the HOF line for at least two years after. So I think the idea is to have a second set ready to go, so that when Legends 7 sells through they have another wave ready to hit in quick succession.

Can someone explain the tito situation to me? Tito was considered a shelf warmer but it wasn't all his fault. Much like many things in wrestling the blame can be pointed to Hulk Hogan. Hogan and Tito were in Hall of Fame Series 2 together. The hall of fame series was extremely popular at Target so Target order more but Mattel wasn't ready with Hall of Fame Series 3, so they were going to have to send more of Series 2. Hulk Hogan is heard saying racist things on tape, causing Mattel to have to pull all Hogan figs. All Hogan figures in Hall of Fame are auto generated into Tito Santana figures. Tito goes on to have the reputation of being a shelf warmer when really it was a great figure that was never asked to be produced in such a large quantity. Tito sits for years causing the Target to not order more Hall of Fame figures. The line gets canceled.

There’s no way they’d be able to properly do Tuesday in Texas Macho Man in an elite set

Do we know what was supposed to be wave 3?

I’m hoping we see Hogan and Macho in a 2 pack to match Liz - but I want them in the Legends as well... Rather then list out which series, I’ll just list who I hope we see...
Hogan Macho Hitman Another Warrior Harley Race (not a rerelease, no I don’t own the first, but a repaint is good) HBK Ric Flair Taker

Did the hogan figure ever hit shelves? What attire/era? Do we know what was supposed to be wave 3? Yes the figure hit shelves, it's Hogan in his Wrestlemania 9 gear against Yokozuna. Series three was supposed to be repaints (all of which came out in later waves of the Hall of Fame series) and series four was to have Dude Love. The Hogan/Tito situation caused the Hall of Fame line to come to a halt and by the time they could move forward with the Hall of Fame series, Foley wasn't under contract. All of this information came out in an interview with Bill Miekina. If the time mark doesnt' work, watch from the 34 minute mark:

I kind of wish mattel would've used the old legend's packaging. Don't fix what isn't broken. As for potential figures, I'd like to see the following: Bruiser Brody Ric Flair: legendary NWA suit promo Updated Bruno Sammartino Hulk Hogan "Hulk Still Rules" 2002 Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania XIX Kurt Angle: WrestleMania 21 Paul Heyman: ECW One Night Stand 2005 Eric Bischoff: WCW NWO 1997/1998 Mr. Perfect: Royal Rumble 2002 return (essentially a remake) Christian: Extreme Rules 2011: WHC and Ladder Stunning Steve Austin Undertaker: WrestleMania XIV Terry Funk: ECW One Night Stand 2006: Bandage on eye Ultimate Warrior: WrestleMania 12 Jesse Ventura 3 Faces of Foley RSC 3-Pack with special packaging for all three gimmicks present I agree with you in regards to the packaging. I think the original packaging also deterred potential repackagers and thieves. The original carding was great artwork in general, and they made for cool display backdrops, etc. once you easily cut that bubble off.

Any thoughts on why you don’t foresee LOD making it in? I’ve seen LOD in stores ONCE in my entire life, and it was when Jakks made Animal and Hawk in two different looks in a CS wave. Animal was LOD 2000 and Hawk was AWA I believe. Other than that, they fly off shelves and skyrocket in value almost instantly. It seems like they’d want to continue to capitalize on that, and I think it’s been a minute since we got LOD in the line. There's no reason to think they're signed to merch deals. Animal was involved in the concussion lawsuit, and has had heat with WWE for years. If the AEW line ever incorporates legends, I wouldn't be surprised to see them show up there. But there's definitely bad blood with WWE. I didn't know this. Hopefully AEW begins a legends line that they could utilize them in. They seem very on board with working with and honoring legends.

It's a tad niche, but I think a Harley Figure with a second head instead of extra hands would be interesting. Jerry Lawler some name from the 90s a name from the early 2000s
I feel like if a vote was held where the available names were listed that would really help.

Being semi-realistic, both in terms of names we at least think are available and each wave having anchor talent and spanning different eras, but also ones I would prefer to see:
Series 9: -WCW Hulkster-era Hulk Hogan -2002 Edge in purple -Ted DiBiase (Green Suit) -WM19 Trish Stratus - CHASE 2000-era manager Trish.
Series 10: -WM10 Macho Man -Kama Mustafa (NOD) -British Bulldog W/Hart Foundation vest (Either 1997 BULL DOG trunks or 1995 heel turn tights that he briefly wore in 97) -SummerSlam 1998 Triple H - CHASE Late 1998 red variant of shiny DX pants Triple H
Series 11: -Survivor Series 1990 Ultimate Warrior -Acolytes Bradshaw -Acolytes Farooq -WCW Rey Mysterio - CHASE alternate attire WCW Rey
Series 12: -2002 Kurt Angle with hairpiece/headgear -1992 Rowdy Roddy Piper -Sean Waltman (either a 1996 heel 1-2-3 Kid, Elite version of the red & black 1998 gear, or RAW return with jeans, DX shirt, and leather jacket) -Invasion PPV Jeff Hardy - CHASE 2001 Jeff Hardy W/different hair and shirt color.

I thought Tito Santana was going to sell well when it first came out and bought it on Amazon for full price since I dont live near a Target. A month later, I was in a Target and found him warming pegs. Go figure. Wrestling figures are in demand right now during the pandemic, even all the Titos have flown off the shelves.

He wore similar red ones when he wrestled at house shows in 1988/89.
