JC Motors thank you for posting the scene with George singing as his answering machine message. OP, you and your girlfriend should also watch Curb your enthusiasm if you like Seinfeld. Yes! We've talked about starting that after Seinfeld. I've heard from some that it's funnier I would say it is but I feel like the first season is a little draggy. It definitely gets much better from season 2 onward. The most recent season that just finished wasn’t the best but it still held up.

The Finale to Seinfeld was a letdown. It could have been handled differently. The whole breaking a good Samaritan law and having a huge court case with notable characters testifying against them in court was dumb. I get that they were going all out getting memorable characters to appear in the finale. Same goes for the Clip Show episodes. They were pointless.

A lot of great memories for me. I think I was in 8th or 9th grade when the show started. Me and my friends were huge fans of stand up and we really looked forward to it. And NBC was killing it, they had Cheers, Seinfeld, and Wings at one point. Part of me thinks that people like Friends more than Seinfeld because Seinfeld is really about four self centered people that barely care about each and really have no redeemable qualities and it's like that through the entire run. Friends I mean it says in the theme song "I'll be there for you". Friends the characters grew up together and matured and moved on. Seinfeld is like It's Always Sunny but on network tv or It's Always Sunny is the mature Seinfeld. I'm in the minority but I like the series finale. But I completely understand fans using the Puerto Rican Day Parade episode as the true finale because all the characters get there comeuppance.
You might be the first person to say this. What make you like the finale? I'm not try to come at you but I'm curious to know why you like it. I've never really thought about Puerto Rican Day Parade being a true finally but I think it's a good way to go out.

I've never really thought about Puerto Rican Day Parade being a true finally but I think it's a good way to go out. Seinfeld was the anti-sitcom sitcom. The show about nothing. I'll hide this as to not spoil anything If they do a finale where say Jerry and Elaine get together, Kramer finally gets rich from a get rich quick scheme, and George finally beds the woman of his dreams, it is playing into the sitcom tradition of everyone has to have the big payoff. The characters on Seinfeld are very selfish and only look out for themselves through the entire show. The past characters come back to amplify that the characters aren't that great (someone once said Jerry Seinfeld was the first antihero on TV which I won't go that far but he is close in intention). The finale had callbacks to previous episodes (From Steinbrenner getting yelled at from Frank about a Yankees player in a serious situation to they're real and they're spectacular to Babu Bhatt doing exactly what he said he would do). The biggest was the conversation they have in the cell is a callback to the pilot. The show goes full circle and the four main characters haven't changed a bit. It plays to the show Seinfeld and not the traditional sitcom. Again people have different opinions and that is fine. This is just how I see the series finale.

Seinfeld is the greatest show in television history. I’ve been a fan since it was on the air. I watch it on a nightly basis and still laugh hysterically. It’s timeless, and still relatable today.
Here are a few more great moments:

I couldn't get into this show. I just never found it funny. I made it through half an episode. Jerry was wearing thick glasses & accidentally bought $100 worth of chewing gum. Then Kramer ate a really old hot dog. I may not like the show, but I'm just one opinion.
I do think Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up routine about Pop Tarts is hilarious, though.

Seinfeld and Big Bang Theory are two of the most unfunny shows just can't get into them.
Guess it's comedy meant for the sophisticated crowds that are above shows like Boy Meets World,Fresh Prince,Saved By The Bell,Family Matters.

The next day, I bought a box of Pop-Tarts, and polished them off in one day. They were as delicious as his promo.

Greatest show of all time. Each of the four main character have countless memorable moments, and the show contains the greatest collection of side character. Some of the side characters only made one appearance yet are remembered fondly to this day.
There’s too many scenes to mention, but one that always stands out to me is when George is bantering with Eric the Clown moments before shoving women and children out of the way due to a grease fire.
George - “B O Z O. How are you a clown and don’t know who Bozo is?”

I agree that the Finale could have been better, but I don’t hate it like a lot of fans do. The show hit such a high peak that I think no matter what they did that it would have been considered a let down. I think seeing all these side characters one last time was decent, and them going to prison for doing nothing (the premise of the show) was a solid idea if executed poorly. I’ve actually read a fan theory that the plane crashed, they all died, and the trial was them being stuck in hell and their punishment was facing all the people they wronged. Just a fan theory but cool to think about.

I’ve read some fan pitches that for a 10th season they should have followed a group of side characters for a year until Jerry and the others got released from prison. I think following a group of Kenny Bania, Puddy, Newman, and Sue Ellen would have opened things up for new ideas for a final season. Have Newman using Jerry’s apartment without Jerry knowing for the year he’s gone. The season ends with Jerry returning home, finding a candy wrapped in his couch and going “Newman!”
Even if you’re not a fan of this, Julia, Jason, and Michael all wanted to return for a 10th season and it’s always bothered me that NBC didn’t go with one more. I get that Jerry and Larry were the heart and soul of the show but I feel like the rest of the cast had a great handle on their characters that the show could have done one more season and been successful. A lot of fans felt the show would fail once Larry left after season 7 but 8 and 9 have some of the shows most memorable episodes. The show got wackier yes, but still great. Replace Jerry with Bania for the last year and I think it has potential to be a great season.

I would have loved to see a spinoff called The Costanza's. It would feature George living with his parents.

The minor characters work because they don't have that much screen time. Once you give them more time, you'll wonder why you liked the character in the first place. So giving any of them a show would have been a disaster. NBC learned from The Tortellis.
