In before the NWA line. (To be clear, I think Cornette got 100% thrown under the bus there. It was an aged joke that probably shouldn't be told anymore, but it made it past editing, and somehow Cornette is the only one at fault? Yeah no. Bad joke? Sure. Racist intent? Hell no.) Cornette is a lot of things, both good and bad, but racist is absolutely not one of them.

"... the only man I've ever known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia."
Had he said Harlem it'd be very racist. But he picked a country known for starvation instead.

I mean, I'm literally a huuuuge BLM proponent, protested in my town, donated, my Twitter is covered with it. If I thought for an inkling of a second Corny was a racist, I'd denounce my fandom immediately. So yes, make me understand. If I need too... Because I want too.

If I thought for an inkling of a second Corny was a racist, I'd denounce my fandom immediately. So yes, make me understand. If I need too... Because I want too. That's interesting bc he was fired from NWA due to racist comments made less than a year ago. That paired with his inability to form a proper apology when Mark Henry and others called him out for it and his past remarks which I don't need to quote I'd say it's safe to say he hasn't changed and never will. People can blame it on him being old or "being a work" or it being "how it was back then" but neither are excuses especially when you were caught making racist remarks but immediately shut his knobgobbler when a real man entered the room. What a coward. He should keep his cornfed hateful bs where it belongs, on the losing side. That's my stance and I'm open to being educated on this if I'm wrong but I think his more vulgar past remarks really speak volumes about his passive racism today. It's one thing to be up front about how you feel, at least that's respectable to some degree.. It's the closeted ones who are the issue bc they're scared to come out in public but preach hate behind closed doors. Either way it's probably a convo for the DMs at this point. I believe I've taken up too much space already with the side bar lol my fault guys. On Topic: I think his problems with Omega come from him just being a fantastic and promoter/engineer of a different kind of wrestling. More sports tailored than shock and awe but to each his own in that retrospect. It's all good in my eyes when conveyed properly.

Whether it's politics or wrestling, we seem to live in a world that has to be all or nothing, for or against, with no room for nuance or shades of gray.
Cornette knows the business, especially the history of the business, as well as anyone out there. And there is definitely some kernel of truth in a lot of his criticisms of modern wrestling - pacing, booking, how to build a feud, etc. I've enjoyed a lot of Omega's work, but I have zero interest in his brand of comedy. And while I enjoyed them, none of his Okada series make my top 25 matches. But I totally respect those who think they're the pinnacle of pro wrestling.
At the same time, the Jim is working a gimmick and it's hilarious to me that people get so irate over it. Cornette's peak heat as a manager was in the mid 80's. It's miraculous that he's THIS omnipresent in wrestling banter some 35 years later, and hasn't even worked in wrestling in any major capacity since ROH in the early 2010's. Yet the guy makes a good living selling merch and doing a podcast without having to leave the house. He's a master salesman, and if some folks (and workers) don't realized that they're basically just being used as a foil to shine Jim up as a babyface to his devoted audience, then there isn't much to debate.

Cornette recently did some fantasy booking from a question who and how would he manage some guys today. He picked Jacob Fatu and Alex Hammerstone and man, the sample promos and concepts he came up with on the drop of a hat were better than most of what has been booked in the last decade. Cornette understands the history of the business, booking, psychology, and getting over better than most people today. Rare that I hear him give a take on some booking or psychological element, some little nuance that I don’t completely agree and go yeah that would have been so much better.

I always assumed Cornette’s hatred of Omega came from when they worked together. I remember something about Cornette accusing Omega of faking injuries so he wouldn’t have to work shows.
I’m not the biggest Omega fan, but I think he’s good. I’m not sure if it’s just the fact that I’m seeing him more often or if the workload is starting to take a toll, but I feel like he seems a little more tired in AEW.
As far as his comedy matches, I definitely think there’s room for it in wrestling. I see it as a variety show, and depending on where it’s placed on the card there’s room for absurd stuff. It helps keep the show fresh in my opinion.

Jim Cornette is a racist, sexist misogynist scumbag. Look at what he said when Becky Lynch announced her pregnancy: Look at what he said about Seth Rollins' fiance. Seth Rollins is a man he worked with, and was possibly a friend. He said that about another man's wife with no provocation. His hatred for Kenny Omega is because Omega did some comedy wrestling years ago. Years ago, Omega wrestled a blow-up doll. He also did some matches where he wrestled little kids. So f'n what? Wrestling isn't always serious. Comedy wrestling exists and there's been ridiculous stuff in wrestling for years. Cornette f'n wrestled a ninja turtle once. He's a frelling hippocrit. You don't like comedy wrestling, fine. It's not your cup of tea, fine. But he's threatened to tar and feather Omega over it and threatened outright violence for the fact that Omega has done comedy wrestling in his career. Here are more examples that the so-called Cult of Cornette will stick their heads in the sand about: www.outsports.com/2019/6/10/18656241/jim-cornette-aew-sonny-kiss-homophobic-comments-apologywww.cagesideseats.com/cageside-seats-features/2015/12/19/10625820/jim-cornettes-islamophobic-views-have-no-place-in-wrestling

You will still be in denial about the awful things he's said though. I get why people can't let go of Cornette. The dude was an icon and a part of wrestling history. He takes the business seriously and worships it. I get that people can respect and get behind that. I get that he's this old school of the old school carny marks for the business and there are probably people nostalgic for that era or who miss that style before wrestling was exposed. I can get all that. But there's no excuse for some of the things he's said and being an unrepentant a-hole about it.

I'll play.. show me an EXACT quote of anything racist he's said in the past decade.. Done. Waiting... Also, what he said about Becky, not bad at all. What he said about Sonny, no issue, besides one word which, Jim apologized for using the following week. He said transvestite, not transgender. I'm 34, had no idea transvestite was derogatory, sure Jim didn't at 50+. What he says about Bucks, Omega, Hardy, etc.. just colorful language, nothing else. So... Still waiting.

So you linked to the Sonny kiss thing again to make the point about Muslims/Islam? In the example though in which you're referring to, he's talking about people eating dogs, shitty US government officials, the actual Muslim people who are suicide bombers, etc.. He's not saying every person somehow fits in each of those groups, but he's also not ****footing around and he's calling it like it is. There are people who eat dogs in some places, and it's ing strange to Americans to think that happens. Some places, it is normal.. but, to Jim, seems weird. He calls that out. Some US govt officials, shitty. He calls that out. Some Muslim people, do belong to extremist groups and they do bomb shit. He calls that out. If you can't handle the truth, well.. keep reading quotes and not actually listening to the whole show. It'll work out great for you since you can't handle the truth, you'll be able to continue to live in a world where Corny is this TERRIBLE person instead of just some outspoken dude who doesn't mind calling it like it is, because, generally, it is that way.
