I hope Gabe’s dream isn’t killed. We already have enough people doing the same routine matches on NXT already. We don’t need more children with uneventful personalities learning the same canned matches and trying to get over with dives. We need a promotion where there can be some variety and growth. No one wants to watch Brad Pitt learn to act, they just want to watch the damn movie. I like seeing guys break in SOMETIMES, not every week. I liked it when people called Evolve a “finishing school”. Some promotion will step up and become the final step for independent talent, it’s just a bummer it likely won’t be Evolve

EVOLVE's officially done. WWE has reportedly bought the video library and other assets.
Gabe's probably gonna take a job with NXT.

Online World of Wrestling. "We reported previously that independent wrestling promotion EVOLVE was not planning on ever holding any more events and was looking to sell everything to WWE. In an update, Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that EVOLVE is indeed done as a promotion, and the video library is believed to be sold to WWE along with other assets. Gabe Sapolsky reportedly told key talent of the EVOLVE brand that he had no plans to run events going forward."

From watching that show they put on the network, there's only one thing in Evolve, I'm interested in... Brandi Lauren. Apparently she is seeihg Janela now, so she'll likely be All Elite, soon.

If WWE was smart, give Gabe funding to do the Evolve shows still, as it is a trusted brand. I doubt some of the hardcore stuff can still be done, but the pure wrestling, they have that in gadzooks.

I'd rather him run NXT. I've been pretty disappointed in the product for a while now, I think Gabe would bring some freshness.

If he did indeed sell them the video library, etc, and they give him a gig, that's still possible under their umbrella. They could use a real developmental brand now. NXT is operating more as their "indie" brand now if that makes sense. Tons of people in the PC that could use a true developmental brand to cut their teeth in while they are getting ready to even make it to NXT tv. Either way I'll be very excited to see that library reach the network. Should be a lot of gem matches in there.

Vince should worry about his own company before buying out others and ruining them.

Vince should worry about his own company before buying out others and ruining them. In all fairness, COVID ruined EVOLVE and nearly ruined pretty much every indie company who had booked shows for Mania weekend. The owner of EVOLVE said himself he wasn't planning on running any more shows, might as well get a profit out of the tape library since it features matches from pretty much 80% of WWE's current roster.

I wonder what the trickle down effect from this will be whenever wrestling resumes. With Evolve closing and Chikara seemingly done, that takes out two of the larger indies that ran shows with regularity. NWA also looks to be on life support, and PWG doesn't seem as active.
They were great opportunities for newer talent to get exposure in front of a larger audience. Evolve in particular had some interesting prospects who still need a few years to grow and develop. Maybe something else comes up in their place, but that doesn't happen over night. We've been lucky to have an absurd amount of wrestling available over the past 12-16 months, and maybe this is just the supply/demand curve resetting itself. But I hope that there will be continued opportunities for newer talent to get a spotlight and make a name for themselves.

Game Changer Wrestling, DEFY, Beyond, Black Label Pro, Absolute Intense Wrestling...there's a boatload of independent companies that are growing in popularity/exposure. And of course...there's always Impact, because Impact will somehow manage to outlive the entirety of the human race and the inevitable heat death of the universe.

Of course there are other promotions out there. And MLW, Impact, and ROH are all strong "mid-tier" promotions with weekly tv. But CHIKARA, Evolve, and PWG are/were definitely in a separate tier among indies when it came to exposure, reputation, and being a pipeline for talent into major companies. It's totally possible other companies add talent, increase their profile, and fill that void. But I don't think that's anywhere near a given, and it's not going to happen overnight.

Thought they would’ve done this years ago, they’ve essentially been their farm promotion for a while

So what exact video libraries are they getting from WWNLive with this deal? Evolve (obviously), and supposedly Dragon Gate USA from what people are saying. Full Impact Pro Wrestling, and Shine Wrestling are also under WWNLive. Are those two part of the deal, as well?
