Sammy is about to get cancelled next so, was good while it lasted I suppose. From what I've seen, he'll be fine if he puts out a statement and apologizes for what he said. If he actually hurt someone it'd be a different story.

Sammy was 22 when he said that. it was a really stupid thing to say, beyond stupid on a platform aired throughout the internet, but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water
now if he said that while employed, or fails to properly apologize for it, then it’s a different story

Sammy needs to apologize and own it. Not make excuses. Possibly get a fine and/or suspension, but don't fire him and ruin his life over this. That's not right.

If he actually hurt someone it'd be a different story. Im just going off the initial response from people online, they want his head. Actually, they are acting as if he physically assaulted someone as opposed to just saying a bad joke. I would hope all he needs to do is put out an apology and its forgotten but with everything going on right now and the world we are living in, you really dont know.

There’s no defending what he said, it was INCREDIBLY stupid of him to say, regardless if he was employed or not. Just because you’re employed with a major promotion doesn’t give you immunity from having to answer for your outright IDIOTIC statements. At first I was glad to see him apologize publicly, but others have already caught him liking a tweet from someone else claiming “Sammy was just joking, why is everyone so soft now a days” (I’m paraphrasing, but this was part of the tweet). So that leads me to think this, are you really sorry Sammy? Or are you saying your sorry publicly to try to mediate things with your higher ups, out of fear of losing you job.

If this isn't enough, suspend him for a month, fine him, and have sensitivity training. Don't ruin his entire life over this. People should be allowed to mess up and make up for past mistakes.
What he said was awful. He never should've said it. I agree with that. But I've seen no proof or allegations he's actually committing what he talked about here.

James Gunn jokes about similarly inappropriate subject matter in his 40s and Hollywood and all of his fans and film Twitter came to his defense.

It'd be wrong to ruin his career for what he said, but it's ok if people don't want to watch him wrestle anymore because of it. That said, you might want to delete that Gunn comment. That's pretty unrelated and muddies up your point.

I realize what he was doing, though I didn't agree he shouldn't have done it and posted those type of jokes on Twitter. But the fact of the matter is he wasn't a standup comedian and he was posting those tweets for all to see on Twitter, which is public, and it's not a good look. I stand by what I said for James Gunn. He did say those things. He did joke about those things, and many came to his defense and tripped over themselves to defend him, when he wrote multiple tweets jokes about that subject matter. He said those things and made those jokes. It's documented.

I don’t think what he said is near the level of depravity that someone like Lars Sullivan stated. that said, I don’t know what he was thinking saying something like that on a podcast. hopefully he learns from this incident. like to be honest, I don’t think this is a big deal at all as long as he owns up to it publicly. people are allowed to joke about what they want to, but it’s time and place, and when you’re a public entertainer you have to behave accordingly.

It was dumb and stupid. But it was also something he did four years ago before worked in AEW.
If people can find more evidence of him using similar humor in recent months, fine I'd like to see that at least before rendering a judgment.
It's hilarious though that people can defend James Gunn and then call for the job of someone far younger.

We cant crucify somebody for a mistake they made and then when they put out a statement apologizing, we question the sincerity of said apology. Doesnt work that way.

Should Sammy Guevara be scrutinized after this? Absolutely. But based on this alone, he should not be removed.
Suspended maybe, fined, yes I would agree. But this could be a teachable moment here. Let it be a teachable moment for once and not end someone's entire life over stupid bad words. The correct response is to weed out and correct this language or behavior. But if you fire and end Sammy's wrestling career over this, it doesn't get us anywhere, especially when famous wrestlers have done and gotten away with far worse and are continually worshipped.
IMHO fairness matters. It would be unfair to fire Sammy Guevara and continue to use Mike Tyson, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin in any capacity.

Want to follow it up with two more: He owned it, he apologized, they talked, he apologized again, he'll feel stupid for a while. I accept.
Thanks for posting those! I wish that the Sammy discussion would just end here with that, but we all know it won't.

Not long ago, Kevin Hart was also shamed out of hosting the oscars as well for jokes he made years earlier in his standup routine.
