April 12, 2013 from TD Garden in Boston, MA
After the opening Smackdown video, the voice of Josh Mathews from ringside welcomes all along with John Bradshaw Layfield as we are heading right to the squared circle to begin things here on Friday Night Smackdown.
Standing in the ring is Paul Heyman to begin things tonight as he is introduced by Tony Chimel. His hand covering his mouth, he, perhaps for once, seems like he has trouble finding the words to say. He even clarifies that he isn't sure how to describe his thoughts. "I requested this time to speak to all of you because of what you saw from not just one, but both of my high profile clients this past Monday night on Raw." A shrug of the shoulders he says he is not sure where to begin, but he supposes he will start with CM Punk. Chants of Punk's name come from the crowd and cause Heyman to pause again before speaking. "Punk and I go back a long time. We've had a certain rapport with each other since he came to the WWE, since he joined my vision of a new ECW. Punk and I both had the same opinions in regards to how things were changing around here and while I decided it was time for me to go because of the direction, Punk stuck around... Punk did what I always thought he could do and that is overcome everything put up against him, become the ECW Champion, become the World Heavyweight Champion, become the WWE Champion and - better yet - 'The Best in the World', ladies and gentlemen. That would be my best friend, CM Punk." He says that he was caught off guard by Punk wanting to walk away after his crushing defeat at WrestleMania and he even argued against it, but he has had a little time to think it over and he realizes that Punk is just doing the same thing he himself did about six and a half years ago. "So, do I want to see Punk walk away? Of course not. But do I understand? Yes. As far as The Shield attacking CM Punk... I, quite frankly, don't even want to touch that because as horrifying as it was to watch my best friend laid out in the middle of this ring... it's not a fight for me and I'll just leave it at this: CM Punk will be back one day and if he so chooses to seek revenge on those three gentlemen do not be surprised."
Heyman then moves on to his other client, Brock Lesnar. "At the end of Monday Night Raw this week, The Rock came down to this ring to address his loss at WrestleMania and, to the surprise of not just all of you, but myself as well, my client Brock Lesnar came down to this very ring." Heyman explains that he tried to put a stop to this because as soon as he saw Lesnar heading to the ring he knew it couldn't be anything could because Lesnar doesn't just come down to the ring to have a chat, he comes down to the ring for business. "So, the question is: Why did Brock Lesnar attack The Rock? You'd think I'd have all the answers, right? Well, the answer to that is no. Because I was under the impression, just like all of you, that Brock was finished with the WWE after conquering Triple H last year at Summerslam. Then, he came back for a fight at WrestleMania with Sheamus and disposed of him to the point that he is out of action. We figured that was enough! So, Brock goes down to this ring... he drops one of the biggest stars not just in the WWE but on the entire planet with the F-5 and, of course, I'd have all the answers, right? Unfortunately, even I don't." He says that what he can offer, however, is some advice to The Rock. "I know, I know. You're probably back at home resting up from what Brock Lesnar did to you not once, but twice, and you're already thinking about kicking Brock Lesnar's ass, right? Listen, as a fan of Dwayne Johnson, I recommend to you, sir, that you don't make that mistake. I recommend that you go back to your very successful career in Hollywood and you continue to be a big star there because, quite honestly, it's not worth your time and I would hate to see what Brock Lesnar could and would do to you." Heyman then gives a long glare in to the camera, places the microphone on the mat, adjusts his tie and leaves the ring.
Seen walking in the back together are Daniel Bryan and Kane, as after re-uniting on Monday Night Raw as Team Hell No, they will once again be in tag team action here tonight on Smackdown - next!
----------------------------------
Up to their feet, Kane and Bryan celebrate the big win together as Kane actually begins the 'Yes!' chants with the crowd. Bryan pumps his fingers to the crowd as Team Hell No is back in business and on a roll!
----------------------------------
After the break, the commentary team makes the announcement that a match has been made this Monday on Raw to determine who will challenge Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston will next defend their WWE Tag Team Championship against, as we will see a tag team turmoil number one contender's match between Team Rhodes Scholars, Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara, The Prime Time Players, The Usos and Team Hell No!
Meanwhile, back in the ring, R-Truth stands waiting when out from the back comes Jack Swagger and, as we found out on Monday, friend Zeb Colter. After introducing them to the Smackdown crowd, Colter says that tonight will be the in-ring return of 'The Real American' Jack Swagger. "What you will see here tonight is the example of what is right with this country and this company, versus what is wrong..." He gestures to Truth, saying that he makes a mockery of a superstar, of an American, with the way he conducts himself. "You call yourself R-Truth but you couldn't be further from that: The truth." Colter says that Swagger is the role model in the WWE and these people need to stop shouting 'what's up' and instead place their hands over their hearts. "And say along with us: We the people!"
2. Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) def. R-Truth in a match dominated by Swagger with power and takedowns as Truth gets limited offense in, a spinning wheel kick ducked underneath with Swagger then targeting that leg. As Truth struggles to stand back up after having his leg wrapped around the ring post, Swagger kicks the bad ankle and grabs a hold of the foot, the ankle lock applied and Truth tapping out quickly.
Colter steps in to the ring with a smile, standing next to Swagger and raising his arm as the winner. The two look out to the booing crowd, then placing their hand on their chest as they shout out once again: "We the people!"
----------------------------------
Ambrose says that they want what they did to Punk on Raw to be a warning to everyone. He says that them defeating Evolution at WrestleMania was a statement, but what they did to Punk was the warning. "Because we will do what we want, when we want for whatever reason we want to whoever we want! We will continue to provide justice and we will continue to run through this entire company until we are the last ones left standing!" Rollins says that this company one day will belong to them and everyone will be on their knees pleading for mercy. "So if anybody else wants to try us going forward," Reigns adds. "You will go down like those before you. Believe that... and believe in The Shield." All three then drop their microphones and put their fists together in signature form before leaving the ring and heading out through the crowd.
In the back stands Renee Young as she introduces Wade Barrett as her guest, bringing up how he demanded another shot at The Miz and the Intercontinental Championship tonight, but it was decided it would be a last chance match. She asks what will Barrett do if he comes up short and can no longer challenge The Miz for the title. "They give you a job around here to ask questions like that?!" He responds with a scowl. "The Miz doesn't belong in the WWE with the likes of me, Renee. I've made that abundantly clear time and time again. He got lucky a couple of times but even a broken clock is right twice a day, right? Well, it's happened twice. Tonight, his luck runs out at the hands of Wade Barrett." He then heads off with that match up coming up next.
----------------------------------
3. Last Chance Match for the Intercontinental Championship: The Miz© def. Wade Barrett as in this back and forth battle, Barrett resorts to some underhanded tactics once he is almost put away by Miz on multiple occasions. After a Wasteland kick out, Barrett goes after a steel chair but is stopped by the official. He then instead delivers a low blow kick, making the cover with a hook of the legs for another two count. Furious, Barrett then sets up for the Bull Hammer Elbow but Miz ends up ducking underneath it, rolling Barrett up for a near fall of his own. Barrett then stands back up and misses another elbow shot, Miz this time hooking a hold of him and nailing the Skull Crushing Finale for the one, two, three!
Miz rises to his feet and pumps his fists in the air as, for the third and final time this week, he has beaten Barrett and remains Intercontinental Champion. As he celebrates with the title inside of the ring, Barrett watches on from the outside in defeat, knowing he can no longer challenge for the belt he had previously coveted for four months.
----------------------------------
Standing by in the back after the break is Matt Striker as he has the new United States Champion Evan Bourne as his guest at this time. First congratulating Bourne on his win, he asks about getting a one-on-one opportunity at the World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler tonight. "This has been a crazy week and a crazy past few weeks, Matt," Bourne says as he acknowledges coming back a few weeks ago and not knowing what was going to happen, exactly. "To be standing here the United States Champion and to have a shot at Dolph Ziggler? This may be the biggest match of my career. Hey, maybe if I get one over on Dolph I could challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship and I could become the new double champion around here!" He smiles and heads off with the main event still to come later on.
4. Fandango def. JTG as the ballroom dancing Fandango takes exception to some of JTG's own dance moves, a display of Fandango's finesse being responded to with a series of punches to the face. A few take downs for JTG with some flying forearms, clotheslines and kicks are responded to with a spinning wheel kick to the face from Fandango. After some aggressive attacking, Fandango ends up going to the top rope and nailing a top rope leg drop, leading to the cover and the pinfall.
Continuing to show his mean streak, Fandango throws some hard kicks after the bell. The referee steps in and tries to put a stop to it, Fandango backing up to the corner. He then sits himself on to the top rope and as JTG gets on to his hands and knees, a big leg drop being delivered to the back of the neck! Fandango rises to his feet and sways his hips, taking a bow to the booing crowd before leaving the ring and heading to the top of the stage with his dance partner where they strike a pose together.
After the break, the commentary team brings up how Raw was a big night following WrestleMania, including the return of Mr. McMahon. They then recap footage of the Chairman announcing the return of the brand split as there will be a draft the night after Extreme Rules! Plus, he warned Vickie Guerrero that her role as Raw Managing Supervisor didn't ensure her to become the permanent General Manager going forward.
Seen in his office is Smackdown General Manager Booker T with Teddy Long, the two discussing the big news that Mr. McMahon dropped on Raw. "See, Teddy, he wasn't just talking about Vickie Guerrero's job being up for grabs, but also mine. Now, I've enjoyed being Smackdown General Manager and I know you know this job better than anybody else! But, if you want to remain on board as my assistant... I'd like to have that happen." Long folds his hands together and tells Booker that maybe he wouldn't mind getting back to being in charge of things himself. With a smile, he looks up to Booker and says that we'll wait and see what happens, because if there is anything he knows about Mr. McMahon it's that he can change his mind at any time!

A few take downs for JTG with some flying forearms, clotheslines and kicks are responded to with a spinning wheel kick to the face from Fandango. Renee Young is in the back as she welcomes her guests to be World Heavyweight and WWE Tag Team Champion Dolph Ziggler, his partner Big E Langston and girlfriend AJ Lee. Young mentions Ziggler's match coming up with Evan Bourne but Ziggler stops her, saying before he gets to that, he asks if she happened to catch what he did on Raw this past Monday. "Better yet, did you see what we did on Raw?" He asks while smiling to Langston. "We showed the entire world, twenty four hours removed from WrestleMania, who the better champion is between myself and John Cena! You see what they're doing around here, right, Renee? They're throwing challenger after challenger at me for the WWE Tag Team Championship, my World Heavyweight Championship and I keep knocking them down! Now, I'm out here making my own challenges by taking down John Cena. I'm the 'Show Off' and I am the very best thing this business has going for it!" He says that he is going to head out to that ring in just a few minutes, now facing another champion. He suggests that maybe he'll come for Bourne's United State Championship, maybe he'll come for every championship there is in the WWE because he should have all the gold. "I'm just that damn good, Renee. I'm just that damn good." He laughs and plants a kiss on AJ, the three then walking away together as the main event between Ziggler and Bourne is moments away.
----------------------------------
The Boston fans cheer for Bourne as he stands back up with a big grin from ear to ear as he is announced as the winner. His celebration is added to by Jericho coming back in to the ring applauding and raising his arm up. As Bourne then heads up the turnbuckles with his United States Championship, 'Y2J' stands over Ziggler's body with a smirk, then kneeling down beside him to say that this isn't over. With that, the show comes to a close.
